- Here's my review and reaction to the sims 4 lovestruck gameplay trailer. The new expansion pack showcases a dating system, complete with turn ons and turn offs and a dating app. But while the world looks pretty, and building may be fun, I do wonder if there's enough gameplay here.

Considering going on dates is a big feature in this pack, I'm not noticing a lot of activities. Eating from a food stall, stargazing and playing board games is that really it??? I understand we've got date activities from other packs but what about an arcade lot type with different arcade games, wack a mole, basketball hoops, ring the bell which you can do to impress your date. What about an aquarium lot type or a theme park with rollercoasters and ferris wheels. Ugh theres so much more they can do.

This is like my first pet all over again.... here you can go on dates, but you just need all these other packs first because we aren't giving you any actual date places to go other than the base game bar even though the entire concept for this expansion pack is dating! Guess we will be buying additional date places in separate packs, one per pack lol
Agreed. Plus, that relies on other packs. They should consider that not all players will have every pack, so they should have added more, unique activities.
Those are features reserved for Arcade Lifestyle expansion pack, Sports Living expansion pack, Theme Park Frenzy expansion pack, and Sealife Aquarium expansion pack.
I think a carnival would have been great, like the stuff that was included with Makin' Magic in Sims 1. The shows sims could put on were great and that would have been really fun for a date activity.
What's missing is....gameplay. Except for about 4 separate seconds it was all cutscene type footage highlighting the gameplay, not actual gameplay. I know this is likely how they always do it but it doesn't instill me with any confidence when a gameplay trailer doesn't show any gameplay. Simmers shouldn't have to wait for the livestream for that.
On another note, feel better soon and congrats on getting a condo. I know you still have a way to go before being settled but at least that whole experience is heading into the final stage. The end is in sight. 🙂
I just feel like there are so many missed opportunities! I am trying to keep in mind that sometimes these trailers can do a really poor job of selling the pack. But I will say I don't understand why there aren't more activities, if the idea is all about dating
Thank you! I never thought I'd get a place.. I had been looking two years and I'll be glad for it to be over ha. Spending ANY money is stressful to me, and change is too, so hopefully it'll be good at the end. Appreciate it!

ngl it kinda put me off. i was trying to be optimistic and was excited, but im like wheres the new gameplay? we already have food stalls, we already can stargaze… its a very weird choice to not add new dating activities to a pack that has a big focus on dating
yeah for me too. I get and know that sometimes these trailers really just don't highlight things the best way... but this really highlighted to me a lack of activities, things to do

I can sort of understand especially since this pack, like most prior Game/Expansion Packs, uses a theme already used in previous games, which in this case is romance/dating that previous games (The Sims Hot Date, The Sims 2 Nightlife, and The Sims 3 Late Night) already done before. I feel it has been a problem with The Sims 4 because most Packs are similar to what EPs from The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 used. It will be apparent to anyone who's played the previous games (Sims 2 or Sims 3).
This almost felt like a second teaser as opposed to a gameplay trailer. Don't know that I learned much new. Interested in the world, but not enough for a full priced EP. Very much made me feel like I'll catch it on sale. I don't mind that the world is San Myshuno-like. How many suburbias do we have that feel same-y. Multiple cities can have similar vibes.
I kinda am starting to wonder if gameplay trailers should be replaced with something else- a short producer walkthrough that's different than the longer one, or something in game played via say someone from the creator network. In some ways, I wonder if that might do a better job.
That said, I do... kinda feel it's not of course just a trailer problem,, as I do feel like there's not a ton new on offer for what I'd expect for the tightly defined theme
You know what would be awesome for this game pack?
- Tango, salsa, valtz... COUPLE DANCES AND DANCE COMPETITIONS.
- Pottery classes and sculpting.
- open air/car park cinemas with romantic atmosphere
- weekend getaways with somewhat scripted events, like it either goes well or bad
- ZODIACS AND ASTROLOGY, with fortune telling career through coffee ground or tea leaves reading or tarot reading to predict/manifest ROMANTIC future
- BFF drama, because we all have been through that one friend who forgets about you when in relationship and crawls back to you when heartbroken. THAT would be awesome.
- matchmaking TRADITIONALLY, setting up friends that your sim thinks would be good together
I think this pack has an idea, for sure, but lacks content that will bring the idea to life. There arent any new activities or skills that will enrich the dating experience. Fuck that dating app, i dont want an extra interface in my game's existing interface.
To me, this is an over glorified KIT. Yes. It basically brings new cas, bb and world with no gameplay. Heck, Paranormal stuff pack has deeper gameplay than what is shown to us so far.
@@Elethyl agreed. I was already not very interested in this pack, but if they had the features you listed and even more, it would've sold me. I keep hearing ideas in the comment section that sound cool, and it's saddening to know there's nothing like them here.

yes, in short, there's a lot more content for this seemingly expansive theme that one could tap into- adding both more gameplay overall and more nuance
I would add "tell you are the other one" to a cheated Sim or insult married Sims in the app interactions.

From the gameplay trailer this pack really feels like a gamepack, sadly.
so far, yeah. The miss for me is not adding new venues and activities. It doesn't feel like a lot new is being added. The emphasis on dating actually also feels like the perfect fit for a gamepack, as it feels very centrally focused on one thing
For SO long EA has been releasing "expnasion packs" that only have the content of a game pack, it's really obvious how hard they are trying to bilk players for money. I'd have no problem with this being a game pack for $20 but it sure as hell does not look worth $40.

I'm not surprised or disappointed. I was kind of expecting this. I really don't think dates warranted an entire expansion pack dedicated to them. I said it before, but I really think they could've combined my wedding stories with love struck to create an expansion pack. They probably didn't have an idea for lovestruck at the time, but that's how this expansion pack feels.
seeing this here, I agree that an expansion would have made sense to be generally romance- and include love in various stages and forms
I haven't seen (or read) anything yet that would make me want this pack for more than $20. I have read the other comments on your video so far, and I think I agree with some of what others are saying. This gameplay trailer kind of made me less excited than I already was (or wasn't). It just looks like a typical more click-through systems (similar to what we've seen in Seasons or Get Together) to set up specific events. While I do appreciate that these are pretty customizable, I think these systems hinge on having a lot of other packs that do add more activities because as you said, we haven't really seen enough of that. I can actually see myself enjoying what is there, but is that enough for me to say yeah this looks like an expansion's amount of content? No, it is definitely not. I agree with what you said about the food stalls. Kind of like toilets and bars at this point... I don't know. I'm not 100% closed off to this pack pending more/new information in the "live" stream, but my bar is basically on the floor for level of expectations. If they match it on floor level, it's definitely another wait-for-sales pack.

Thank you! I have only ever moved to a new apartment but can see why you hate it. I am so stressed about it, not to mention some people in the process have been.. kind of condescending. Just will be happy when it's over!
Physical appearance should also be something that’s added like color hair, eyes, or body type 😅
body type may be tricky, because there isn't a set programming for body types per say- so in sims 2, we had basically 2 body types, vs sims 4 you can sculpt and kinda create your own body type. I think there could be some way to do it, but it may be tricky. Aside from of course cc use, hair eyes etc would be a bit easier, presuming they could code all shade of blue / brown etc as one thing
i hope they learned from my wedding disasters and the date events do not completely replace the auto date system when it has the base game goals that earns to the reward objects. so it needs to ADD ON, not TAKE AWAY and replace

I'm very unimpressed. First time in an expansion that nothing catches my eye. I thought this was right up my alley but the whole concept is gonna have issues for me.
For example, I don't like populating my game with randomly generated or other people's sims. If opening the app is gonna do that, the whole feature is obsolete for me.
I also hope the attraction system is not gonna ruin what I already painstakingly created in all my sims with their compatibilities / likes / dislikes.
The CAS looks whatever to me. The build and buy looks whatever to me. The only thing's that worth to me at the time is a new city world and the purple trees. But is it 40 EUR worth it to me...
I understand your concerns. I was really looking forward to an attraction/chemistry system finally being added to the game, but I play one rotational save. I make all my own Sims, and create all my own couples. I usually plan them for each other from the beginning, as it sounds like you do. I was hoping this EP would be more about relationships, not hook-ups. I'll get it for the world and B/B assets, but may will wait to see more. I'm in no rush. Besides, it will only mean I'll have to go in and edit ALL of my existing couples so they'll still be in love. I am thrilled for the non-American world though. It's overdue! And my favorite worlds are the sunny ones. ☀
To me so far it appears the attraction system only consists of turn ons and off. It may very well be you can assign them as you like and simply have none if you don't want them- but honestly how it works is rather unclear.
Every time, I try to convince myself that "the blog is just a few highlights! surely there's more to it" and every time I have to wipe off the clown makeup by the time the "gameplay" is shown >.
sometimes to be fair, the stream actually does show a bit more and nuance too. But I would say the blogs are more reliable than the trailers
I asked the sims if we are getting Hook Up and Break Up text and they liked my comment today and they liked it when I asked when they premiered the pack trailer ❤so I’m pretty sure we are getting those even tho they didn’t show it yet! Just wanted to share that lol

Okay… but the CAS of the EP is probably one of the best I’ve seen and actually had to point out! Just wish there was more features that aren’t rabbit holes
it's funny cause the reveal trailer I wasn't;t feeling it, but I'm much more inspired and liking it in this trailer

This trailer didn't show much that wasn't already either shown or talked about in the blog. I have wanted a chemistry system for so long and this trailer left me feeling underwhelmed. Fingers crossed that early access gameplay videos from simmers shows the pack in a better light.

1:15 Based off what we saw my guess is that the turn ons and turn offs are more important for Romantically Reserved sims, so the fact that Liberty had a trait that was a turn on for him was the connection her needed. Maybe.

I see the potential for a very strong foundation of an EP, but I can't help to question where the content and the meat of the pack is? Once you have found someone on the dating app who you share attraction with, what then? I think what is there is going to be a good addition to the rest of the game, but only looking at this pack, I doesn't seem to have much to do at all. But I don't think the trailers are doing it justice either, so we'll see I guess.
yeah see that's how I am feeling so far. I do think the trailers maybe weren't showcasing as well as they could. however, while the basis is something I would normally find quite interesting, it feels rather bare bones

In all honesty, the whole EP sounds like a prequel of My Wedding Stories, with a Spanish/Mexican San Myshuno twist. The dates looks like some planned event for all the Sims 4 events/parties with checklists of things needed to do to be counted as a successful one.
If anyone here is excited over this, guess I don't get it. Or as the young people say, "this doesn't match my freak" lol
see the whole planned event thing is what worries me most. like it feels like there is going to be a micromanagement emphasis

I groaned when I saw that they are going to make dates like the wedding in MWS... I want my goal-based events! I want the game to tell me what to do!!!
About lack of gameplay, well I agree that it does seem little... I think it's going to follow the line seen in other packs: the main load is going for the new world and to CAS and Build mode items. That is going to give enough content to "make it worth it", but with that aftertaste of wanting more.
If I were to say, fans shouldn't be expecting too many new features in the coming years. There's only so much you can add to a building before that the foundation can stand, and this 10-year old game is already showing signs it can't really stand much. More variations in art part should be less costly, but big new features? Don't really expect them...
yeah.... the idea seems to be a lot about planning and coordinating what you do. One that often doesn't function well but two I find it a bit dull
seee... sometimes I honestly feel certain packs would be better without a world, but that's a shame, because I know people want new worlds
It may seem promising but for some reason, I don't feel enthused given the theme of romance and dating that previous packs (Hot Date, Nightlife and even Late Night) already used making Lovestruck one of many Packs to not have any new themes which has been an issue for several years. The reusing of themes will be apparent to anyone who's familiar with the previous games' Packs. Only time can tell when it actually gets released and/or when the livestream starts.
I def am okay with a re use of some themes, but a lot comes to execution. If they are going for a smaller focus- dating vs all sorts of romance things I'd expect:
- it to be a game pack
-to have lots of gameplay and activities to complement dating
I hope you feel better and your move to your new home goes as smoothly as possible. Thanks for your breakdown of this pack. It does seem like a lot of new features will be added and I'm sure some will require future patching to work as well as possible. At least in this pack we don't have activities that require a coordination of multiple Sims doing one thing at a time, like sitting together for a whole activity like eating. I'm sure many simmers will be disappointed that hotels will be a "rabbit hole", but for me that's not an issue. It's like with going to class, there's not much Sims do while in the room. If anything, it's not being able to create custom styled buildings and rooms.

I think they could have done a visit a hotel option but def think being able to mange a hotel would not have probably been handled well in this pack

I'm trying to be optimistic, and the trailer was cute, but a part of me was like "that's it"? I mean if it can do for relationships what Growing Together did for families i'll be happy but the micromanaging gave me wedding story vibes and that's not great. I just hope there's more to this pack besides the app and some new woo hoo spots. The CAS and world did look nice

The two main problems with this pack are the rating system and the fact there are many romantic game mechanics included in the base game unlike what happened when Sims 1 Hot Dates pack was released.

Congratulations on your condo! 🎉🎉. As for the trailer, it is definitely giving off game pack vibes. We see some animations, but no real game play... I will personally wait for the reviews after it's release and of course a major discount before deciding if I want to purchase it.

As to the trailer, I like what I see. I'm glad to hear you can turn off the use of the Gallery, as I don't want random Sims in my game. (I tend to eliminate a lot of the ones in Neighborhood Management.) I'm not sure how much I'll use the "Cupid" app, as I'm not that into that sort of dating. But, that could change.

Dates look very similar to systems in Get Together or Holidays in seasons. I would like to see more, everything was too high level without explanation.
So far I appreciate all the new animations they seem to be adding, especially the fake phone call.
I’m also curious about the feature with Sims with established relationships going on dates away from the kids, it looks there could be some interesting gameplay there, although I suspect it won’t be much.

I hate change, moving, spending large sums of money, and get really stressed out about every little thing. My chest tightens up and I can't breathe. I completely understand. Make yourself a good list. Trust that you have all the skills you need to get through it, and that you are enough. And when you aren't quite enough, reach out for help. There are people around you who want to help you. Your agent, friends, co-workers, maybe family, feel good helping. Trust me, I know. I was a care-giver for a bestie with ovarian cancer. She had an army of helpers. She hated asking for help. She would refuse help. I had to ask for her. People like to feel useful. But really, you've got this! You can do this! Excited for you for finally finding a place. Yay! 👏🎉

I have a married couple right now that, when left alone, tear each other down and quickly get to the point of not happy with each other. I have to take them on vacations and work on their relationship A LOT to make them work. I would love more autonomy for them just saying Enough is enough and breaking up much like the Butler Orange notificationed me and just said no to the abuse she was getting.

Agreed about autonomy... in general I''d say I want to see more reactions from sims. I don't want to have to control or orchestrate so much, but sometimes have things happen to my sims, happen naturally
I am not sure how I feel about the holiday/MWS system for dates either, on the one hand I think it offers greater flexibility for day-long events because you can plan your sim's day around the check points (have the holiday dinner before lighting the candles for example) on the other hand I think the goaled events that give you a timeline work quite well for shorter events such as dinner parties. I hope that this time the new dates don't completely replace the basegame date because both the daylong more flexible type and the goaled type have their use.

I thought it was interesting that the pack also applies to long term relationship (as seen with the bit about the Pancakes), and it's a shame to expand so little on the fact that the work of sustaining relationships is also covered by Lovestruck.

Here's what we wanted: new venue types, live play hotels, and GAMEPLAY from the GAMEPLAY trailer. Here's what we got: same old venues, another rabbit hole and a dating app that basically works like party/event planning tools already in game. I was really anticipating having a Latino world in game, but I didn't see any gameplay related to cultural aspects of that world. The blanket, board game, strawberries, fountain, and cosplay box look like fun additions. Couldn't they have a matchmaker career? More dating types in the app (hook up, meet the family, group date, etc?) A new "woohoo party" event using some of those new costumes? An aspiration to be a home-wrecker, baby daddy, or sugar baby? Traits for machismo, cheater or monogamist, or the five love language types? Venue types like a singles club, an actual romantic restaurant, a beach festival (Carnival)? This pack seems very superficial.
I agree about the new venue types and more gameplay. Hotels I'm iffy about because of how For Rent was done. But in short, I agree. it's actually a narrow theme; all about dating, so why isn't there new additions for dating really? an app and a system, but I think likely the turn ons and offs may come base game? and have some specific to the pack if I had to guess

yeah, I don't love some of the similarities. I honestly just hope it works better. Well not just better but smarter? I didn't see the point of adding activities to weddings honestly, it didn't work in an intuitive way

I’d need to rewatch the trailer, but if the options for “interested in woohoo with” had an option for neither, it’d be great representation for asexuals!
We already got gays, lesbians, and bi/pan for sexualities and trans for genders in the base game. It’d be cool if we got more options for asexuals and aromatics in the game (despite being a pack).

Yes! a few people have postulated it could be just that- it'll be interesting to get a fuller explanation of that trait from the team. I do kinda wish in some ways it was a preference system rather than a trait, but we'll see what it is
Thanks! I have lived in an apartment for a number of years, and I kinda just got tired of rent going up and such. I looked for 2+ years for a place to buy, and it's rough cause things are super expensive and you're also competing with investors/ cash buyers, it's very messy. I'm honestly pretty stressed about all of it, but I hope I'll feel better once it's all settled end of next week :)

Does anyone wonder how dining is going to work here? I noticed Sims eating and thought about Dine Out, but I'm not sure honestly. I agree with the lack of venues; the Sims team is getting incredibly lazy with adding lot types regardless of how old the game is or how much DLC is out there. Hotels/Resorts are perfect for this (For Rent does not count). Think lavish dates, romantic vacations, honeymoons, etc.
it looks like there's a food stall and perhaps there may be a cafe like place you can order some food- you could do it buffet a la high school years etc

to be fair, i feel like this gameplay trailer was a step up from growing together personally. i watched that trailer and left it thinking "yeah but how does any of this actually WORK." but at least with this trailer i feel like i have a better idea of how some of the systems will work, so it at least answered one or two of my questions. not gonna lie though, when the ui for the date planner popped up i internally groaned because it looks basically identical to the wedding planner they added in MWS, and we all know how THAT one turned out. luckily though i watched the trailer again and it showed that the dates are considered goaled events, with rewards that you can earn if you get gold level, so that kind of helped assuage my fears a little bit. that's always been my issue with the wedding overhaul they did. the fact that you can plan a wedding and pick a bunch of objectives to complete for it, and then when the wedding actually happens you can choose to complete literally none of the goals and just end it right away and the game will stay say "wedding successful". at least with the old wedding system they had in place there was still consequences for having a bad wedding and getting a low score, now there is no penalty for not even doing a single thing. i really hope this new dating system has some kind of relationship loss, or negative sentiment your date gets if the date doesnt go well...
true, the growing together gameplay trailer was kinda bad, and I do consider the pack a staple now.
I think my issue here is that the theme is much tighter and less expansive than growing together-it's not romance but rather dating specifically

I just got sims 2 a year and half or so ago again- I had no idea it was on the Apple Store! sadly I know it's a lot harder to get if you're on windows
Not only all that, but the likes and dislikes behind the "features" are already shallow to begin with. So that'll add no depth at all. The best way that I can describe likes and dislikes is that they are there mentally, but they're not really there visually.

To me, this genuinely looks like a GP and the community already knows that it'll be broken on release which is always baffling to me - seeing that we constantly get broken packs that stay broken years later with no meaningful fixes.
Also, I don't think you're being too dark for TS4, the game is in dire NEED of repercussions and consequences. TS4 is too hunky dory.
Oh, the fake phone call animation was cute, but are the NPCs going to be able to do the same if they're not feeling the date? I kind of doubt it since everything seems to be 'one way' with the game. We saw an example of this in HSY with your Sim being able to sneak out, but other Sims weren't able to sneak out to your house because it's... one way. It makes the game very boring.
Some good points. Yes, a challenge of course is balancing out integrating with systems we already have- and while we have gotten a fair bit especially compared to the launch of sims 4, at times many such underlying systems can feel unfinished or rather surface level. That inherently reduces impact- if your foundation isn't strong as it could be. This is why I ideally want to see core systems in the base of a future game, so they can be more fully used, optimized
The wohoo spot yes is a rabbitole. If they were going to add a motel I kinda expected it. But... I feel they could have done it like sims 2- a romantic place to stay, without fussing about fulling operating it if they wanted to scale back. I think that I don't find such a decision in say sims 3 to be as problematic because that game is an open world
Yeah , ha, when I say too dark I only mean the general what is likely/ overall trajectory of sms 4. I think a lot could be done within a T rating to add more consequences
To your last point: I can only guess, but to me... it feels likely that you as a player will have to instigate most things/ I don't get a strong indication that NPCs will initiate much. I would love to be incorrect about that
I wonder if the activities you pick will just end up being the goals of the date? I like that, because some of the current goals just pop up way too fast in a date, like I want a gold date, but I don't want some of my sims to kiss on the first date.
they could be. It's also possible it works just like MWS/ could be also more of a suggestion. I am not sure I love the idea

okay, first things first, I really like a lot of the CAS items. open shirts, crop tops, patterns, mesh, yes. the amount of available activities for dates shown in this is disappointing. I really hoped we'd get some more variety, but on the other hand, and I guess this is somewhat controversial, but I would rather have limited systems and activities that work than a bunch of stuff that breaks. fingers crossed, but I hope they stick the landing and don't miss the runway again. no, I don't think this is going to be worth an EP price, but I also think that at this point we should either stop paying or stop complaining constantly. we should be aware that more features tend to introduce more bugs and we should prefer less value to more bugs. just a jaded opinion.

Isn’t there supposed to be some kind of matchmaking career in this pack? It seems strange that they haven’t shown anything about it in either of the trailers (at least not that I noticed). And as for what they did show, it all just looked like more of the same: some recycled stuff from other packs (like stargazing from Outdoor Retreat? Or kissing the neck from High School Years, although there it’s limited to teens): date setup that looks like every other event set up (no doubt with the same “reward” for doing the correct things every single time you go on a date), and the only new place to go appears to be a love hotel (which is probably a rabbit hole). And the dating app looks kind of blah so far (I doubt it will be like Sims 3 where you could lie on your profile, and when you met someone in reality they would say something nasty about how you weren’t like that online). The CAS and build/buy look nice enough, and the town is pretty in the standard Sims 4 way, and both trailers were well produced, but I haven’t seen anything yet that makes me think I want to buy this pack.

And yes, I made some observations with the precious trailer- stargazing included- how it doesn't feel like much is new here. I don't mind them reusing some things here and there, but on balance a pack should mostly feel like it's bringing 90 percent new content
That trailer has me less excited about the pack... now I'm closer to the side of: maybe I don't get it. Instead of: do I order this early enough to grt the 3 items?

Ever since Snowy Escape (which was fine as a pack, trailers not so much) the "gameplay trailers" have been more like story trailers, with a plucky over-enthusiastic sim speaking in English telling a story of how they did X or how their life is Y. It's cute for what it is, but gameplay it is not. For that we have to wait for the "livestream", but after My Wedding Catastrophe those have been pre-recorded.... so really, Sims influencers are slightly surer bet if you have a youtuber that has similar playstyle as you in mind.
Ha yeah I myself am honestly not at all fond on the narration style and trajectory. It makes it feel super young, a little condescending, and often just doesn't do much for me

I feel the Trailer is a let down. It just felt boring while watching it. Maybe they should have made a new world for this pack. Only reason to get it for the three items that comes with it as long as you buy before September 5, 2024.

Firstly, sorry you've not been feeling on top form. On top of that you are moving which is always stressful. I wish you the absolute best with that and hope that your new pad will be a wonderful home for you. Ok, on to the trailer. I was very underwhelmed. Surely the idea of having different types of trailers and roughly two week intervals leading up to a release would be to drip feed information and features to build up hype. I felt we didn't really learn anything new here. Like you, I want to know more about the attraction system (surely the most significant aspect of this pack) and how it works but there was little of consequence here. The pack may turn out to be the best one yet (well a man can dream!), but I feel they're really not selling it. Consequently I won't be buying it until I've seen several CZcams videos from creators such as yourself (I know you won't be doing any for a while and I am NOT trying to rush you... take as long as you need). We'll see how it works out.

Yeah, I agree. the strategy sounds good on paper, but I don't feel this trailer advanced anything much. I don't see what new information was gained and not loads new was even shown- aside from some UI and new items .

Hey, if you're frazzled, there's this somewhat chill life simulation game. Sometimes it's buggy, so like I'm not totes sure if I should recommend it. The Sims 4?
I think turn-off traits, and romantically reserved sims will be easily overcome by well-raised sims. They'll be more impactful on a sim straight outta CAS, but even in that case I'm sure they're tuned to be something to overcome.
I wonder if turn-off traits are something only meaningful within the dating app, or if they are discoverable in normal gameplay. Let's say I'm once again woohooing Father Winter, weighing up whether the kid should have a father figure. I'm not finding the man through the app, but through the chimney. If my sim is turned off by gluttony, maybe that would be shown on the app, but will we see that info elsewhere? Hum.
I've never watched a livestream, and won't this time. Summaries after the fact are where I'm at. There is the career which they haven't showed yet. So, fingers crossed.

the comments about easily overcome honestly remind me of a lot of things I'd like changed- I think in sims 4, there are many things where the balance feels a bit off to me? leaning to making something easier or more positive oriented. I probably am not fully explaining myself but another random example would be say the pollution in eco lifestyle

@@SimmerErin Yes, the pollution tends to clear up. That's a good analogy. It gives the illusion of progress, but the player hasn't done anything and if you wanted an actually industrial smoggy vibe -- or actually romantically difficult sim -- we're outta luck. I think it'll be that way. We don't kow for sure, but the Sims 4 is relentlessly upbeat. Callia Maebey's enthusiastic face, while being a pain in the ass, is the game we have.

I think maybe a couple years ago, this would be a decent pack, but with all they've dealt with since roughly horse ranch, this is not good enough. It's so empty. $40 for a phone app and recycled activities? I'm good. CAS and the world is cute tho
I have to admit, I don't always agree with the game pack vs ep arguments, but I think both this and HR as themes make more sense as game packs
I forgot the trailer was today but i suxk at knowing i shouldn't psy attention to the xhst ir comments so i avoid anything official from Sims. Still ahsin 2 minute trailers aren't going to be enough. Actually i think even 5 minutes wouldn't be enough for gameplay. At least with this pack. They'd need to release hmm at least 10 trailers. I'll carch the trailer tonight during Dr. Gluon's stream but I'm still interested in this even with my concerns. Like there's an opposites attract sentiment, was that forgotten about so now Sims have to have a perfect match or forget about it. Do this pack might make my Sims decide they need to divorce.
The consequences for romance is tricky. There's going as fsr ss physical abuse egich would certainly be rated M to being jealous which we already have a trait so it shouldn't be a problem to improve thet and sdd jealousy without the trait. Blackmail....hmm...
I think the system is an idea to improve the date. A way to possibly think 'ok Sims on a dinner date, here syre the goals' even picking whst to do isn't bad to me.

For sure! I agree there's a line. You can't have anything super serious that leans out of the T rating. I do think in the past sims has implemented some serious elements but with a lighthearted twist to it
this exp feel more and more "ultraoverpriced" based on how little gameplay and how bad the sims 4 ai is in general where "drama" and those stuffs only happens in our "head" , it's become more and more clear which you are paying "for less" than before, because in the end all sims are "equal" and they traits don't really matter that much and everything is almost "equal", another problem is which expansions like that show how outdated the sims "relationshop sims" is, like the friendship and romance bar are too "simple" and too easy to get romance and friendship due to being too simple and outdated they need to "update they base relationship to make a little more "complicated/slow" how you go to totally stranges to forever soulmaters or best friends ever, they need relationship be more like the "skills" with rank levels and each high rank needing more complex stuffs to keep progressing to make many of the current added systems actually looks like really working and not just some random numbers with little impact on the sims free will.
I think what you're speaking to in many ways is not about packs as much as the underlying systems and overall sims autonomy. I think some sims 4 packs excel more when they are (aside from occults) full of activities to do- but there are other packs than can sometimes highlight deficits

Maybe it's just me, but as a demi-romantic person I'm... Not quite comfortable with how 'romantically uninclined' seems to work based on the trailer footage you showed? Like... Is it meant to be demi-romantic representation with a goofy name? Which feels... Off... But also if it isn't why is the way it's described so similar to the definition of demi-romantic? And also why are Sims with that trait seemingly interested on going on dates, because - again - maybe it's just me but that needing an emotional connection before finding someone romantically attractive also comes with low to no romantic drive. I wasn't just not attracted to people romantically before that connection never looking for romantic connections. Also it seems to be conflating physical affection with romantic desire from the sort of things getting blocked, when they can also be connected to sexual desire disconnected from romantic interest, so... I'm just generally confused by that trait from an arospec perspective.
Speaking of 'goofy name' could they have picked a better name for 'romantic repair date' - Don't most couples simply call them date nights? Like I get the idea is to differentiate the sort of dates but... Isn't the general idea for those couples who do them to _maintain_ rather than _repair_ the relationship?

I think another thing here is there doesn't appear to be any physical attraction that will exist in game- honestly I have no idea if there will be anything at all aside from a turn on/ off and I am not sure what options there will be in that category. In short, it looks more surface level , but it's also hard for me to say based on the trailer alone

It was missing actual *gameplay* . There was no gameplay. It was just more of the reveal footage and some cringe narration. I think I'll be sticking with Whims because it clearly does it better.

I honestly have nothing nice to say. I'm just very disappointed. So much to me felt like stuff I can manipulate to do now in game anyways just with a couple of new objects I don't actually need. I am more upset over that what I call lackluster expansion packs as of late have worlds I would like as finally more non-US based but I haven't loved the concepts that are tied to them so I again will be waiting for at least 50 percent off. We also all know how "planning" things go in the game from MWS disaster. They are really stretching it at the end of this too to be like oh it's all ages of life and stages of relationships. Yeah ok, it's mainly young singles. Still feels like they haven't received much of our feedback. Nowhere does it even show let's say single parents can even be on the dating app. So much missed for such a price point and normally I hold back saying this, but this literally should have been a base game update! Dating places sold separately.
yah I see why some say they wish they would sell worlds separately.. I actually have a whole ideal structure, but that's unlikely and a bit of a tangent. I see what they do: add in little bits to get the most people buying possible. But I think a lot of times the packs miss the mark where I'd expect more depth and gameplay overall. I do know that these trailers don't tend to express everything well, so I do think the "stream" will present more outside of this like the career and aspirations at very least. Still I can't help but feel that there are lots of missed opportunities here, and seemingly obvious ones

This pack doesn’t interest me whatsoever. Dating doesn’t feel like a big enough concept for an entire pack, evidenced by how every single pack before that included them as a feature that wasn’t the main feature. It would compliment the rest of the pack cause you’d get so many new things you can do on said dates. Here it feels incredibly surface level because we know there’s not gonna be much more than what they’re showing us. Like wow we changed the dating system and gave you more woohoo options, give us $60. Like ok what can you actually do on those dates? All we’ve really seen is the same as we’ve had since the base game, go to a bar, the park, that’s about it. This should be a game pack, and even then it still feels like there just isn’t enough here. Don’t buy this at full price it’s not gonna be worth it.
I do agree that if it's an expansion pack it probably should have a more expansion theme- like romance in many forms. Dating sounds like it could be okay for a game pack. AND exactly, if it is about dating, where are the new activities and venues and such to add to dating? idk
