Bakom Dotter finns den värmländska sångerskan och låtskrivaren Johanna Maria Jansson. Namnet anspelar på Moder Jord och Johannas förkärlek till djur, natur och världen vi lever i.
Sedan debuten 2014 har hennes musik haft en tematisk koppling till livsåskådning och personliga värderingar. Det stora genombrottet kom med ”Bulletproof”, som blev tvåa i Melodifestivalen 2020. Låten tog sedan en förstaplats på Svensktoppen och plats 49 på Spotifys världshitslista.
Melodifestivalåret därpå kom hon fyra med ”Little Tot”.
Dotter har under åren spelats flitigt på svensk radio och samarbetat med namnkunniga hitmakare som Michael Angelo (Sam Smith, Lady Leshurr), David Sneddon (Lana Del Rey) och Will Hicks (Ed Sheeran och Beyonces ”Perfect”).
På meritlistan som låtskrivare har hon bland annat ”A Million Years” med Mariette och ”Victorious” med Lina Hedlund. Hennes samarbete med Måns Zelmerlöw i ”Walk With Me”, som de framförde i en mellanakt i Andra chansen 2019, ledde till att hon uppträdde på Zelmerlöws turné. Hon har också turnerat tillsammans med Miss Li.

It's the worst song she's had in melodifestivalen, it's not very special. It's also way too similar to Loreen, almost a copy the way she acts and moves around. Wouldn't be fun sending a song with such a similar vibe to the one we sent last year, rather send smth slightly different.

It’s definitely ‘not easy’ to be an independent singer-songwriter at Melfest. Big probs for her and her partner’s efforts to compete.

Dotter never fails to deliver! I can't even describe how much I connect with all of her performances, and this is no exception. Also, I truly believe this song would stand out if selected for Eurovision, since we have so many upbeat songs right now, and Dotter's authenticity and charisma help a lot too. I don't know what it is about Swedish composers, writers, singers and songwriters, throw them all up in the air and you got a masterpiece heading back down to Earth like a unique rain of successful songs. This is a winner whether it goes through to Eurovision. If it goes there it should win. It's up there with Johnny Logan, meaning it's straight from the heart and not a doll put up there to sing automatically and too theatrically. Impressed.

Sadly it will be the twins. They seem just great personality wise but their song is just a slick music of nothing. They can sing, the staging was great, I like the synth. But unlike the chourus I found the song to be very forgetable. This is much more emotions.

I just want to highlight a little thing I really like- when artists return years later with a new song that has slight callbacks to their previous song(s). I get weird goosebumps when I hear her sing "Bullet" in the same way she did in Bulletproof :)
Another example: When Klara Hammarstrom sang "beat of broken hearts" as lyrics of Run to the Hills, when it's the title of her previous song :,)

This is such a strong and emotional entry, I wish that Sweden continue in these tracks of "Hold Me Closer" and "Tattoo", and choose this, a song with so much heart and a vunerable and unique voice, it's a song for the soul, while others that are also great might be more for the dancefloor.
I worry though that the little ones, won't vote for her, and give her low scores, just like they did with Loreen and Cornelia, but hopefully the other voting groups as well as the international juries will be able to hear, and _feel_ the qualities of this song and Dotter's voice and performance.
