Eugénie de Montijo was Empress of the French from her marriage to Emperor Napoleon III, until the Empire was overthrown on September 4, 1870. Eugénie was considered the most fashionable woman in the world during her reign. She set the standards for fashion and restored the French luxury industry to what it is today.

I can’t imagine having to change gowns 3 times a day, and never wearing the same gown again. It sounds exhausting. Every dress maker in France must have been working around the clock, just to keep up.
