One of, if not the best conversations amongst Black actors talking what it's really like in Hollywood for them. I appreciate the honesty of these men about their personal and professional lives.
A clip from this was on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver!
That's what made me want to find this entire conversation. Damn is it a fantastic one.
That’s why I’m here
Dear sweet Jesus THANK YOU for doing this and love the whole beautiful panel of deeply melinated people
I’m glad I found this at one in the morning! I can’t wait to see how the careers of these men will go. I believe they are stars!!!!
Excellent conversation! Great job Angelique.
conversations like these are so important! 🙌🏾
This is a really good conversation. I especially love that Derek Luke seems to be taking notes. I really like that a big part of this conversation was a learning opportunity for him too (for them all also).
We need to see more of these conversations.......especially with black men.
This conversation is EVERYTHING! So good!
This was such an amazing experience. Salute to these Kings. Shout to Chris Chalk #NC
Dope conversation, these guys are hella inspirational
I first saw Aldis Hodge in Supernatural and I'm so happy he's so successful :)
I LOVED THIS❤
Enjoyed this one - thanks Angelique!
This was an excellent interview and a conversation that needs more light shed on it. Bravo.
Speaking of roles, Adlis Hodge, The Next Black Panther/King T'Challa....The man has bearing, cerebral stature, and command presense to portray, though a fictional, yet regal persona of honor & integrity....just saying... As a matter of fact the harnessing of these men's collective experiences can be brought to the foundation of character.....or maybe it's just me.
I love Jane Elliott too Aldis! Been educating white folks for years.
Love this. More please!!
Fantastic interview!
Fundamental conversations. We need more of those✊🏾
Good conversation
She is a great interviewer
Angelique is such an incredible journalist. I have failed to see her work & not be impressed. Huge fan! 💕
I really loved this, thank you so much for making this. I fell in love with Aldis through leverege and I love knowing that the he was able to give that character so much life and awesomeness. Age of the geek baby
That was amazing, I could listen to those guys talk all day
Bravo! Ancestors be pleased. Amen.
I love all of these phenomenal kings.
Good shit....this was needed even if I just found it today
Thanks!
Ok .... that ......was amazing ! Thank you John Oliver for sending me here. I gained valuable insight into these actors and I wish them great success
Aldis
I love this...and only found out about it from John Oliver's show about black people and our hair issues....
Such a wonderful group of young men ❤
Shout out to Last Week Tonight you made me want to come by and check this video out in the full. I want to learn more to better understand the difference between everyone.
The hair talk: 33:14 - 40:11
If Disney/MCU are to recast for Black Panther 2 it be one of these young actors. Maybe Aldis Hodge as he expressed interest playing black panther back 2012. MCU should take another look at him
✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
Nothing but black excellence, ALL these brothas! I love it!!👍
Love all these actors, what they had to say & how they said it... only wish they added someone lil older with their perspective to the mix, like Malcolm-Jamal Warner or sum.
I agree with Mr. Chalk about showing the world an ounce of what we and our ancestors have gone through. But that ounce has turned into a pound, which turned into a gallon, which turned into a barrel and now there's a stockpile.
When can we be seen in a different light?
Exactly!
Underground changed my life and perspective. It was the first true account (other than Roots OG & Roots Reboot) that showed the autonomy and agency and 3-D of the enslaved ancestors.
Love seeing forums for black people to talk about stuff like this.
John Oliver ran the part about hair!
❤️🙏🏾✊🏾🧠
Why didn't you call this video "Black Men in Hollywood"? It'd get a lot more views.
Thank you all. Imperative this movement never ends, just like the racism of this country.
Yeah... I'm with him. I don't like to Sugarcoat history either.
Love how mutli-talented y'all are. Also Aldis my forever bae...😋💥💥
Wow, that punchlines in the pain line really says a lot -- ouch!
Slavery didn't die, period. In the first world, what it morphed into can be found in aspects of consumerism. Marketing to black demographics is essentially racist, but the negativity is in the profiteering and exploitation, not the racism. Today the poor are equally exploited under badly regulated capitalism, as wage slaves to the money-god cult.
Besides that, slavery in general has less to do with race than it does with class. Today there are more slaves than at any point in history, and most of those slaves are owned by people of the same race, let alone the same nationality.
Don't ever forget your power as actors and activists to speak against modern slavery, and not to get lost in the tunnel vision of past/present race relations, in your stable and prosperous first world country.
Do any of these men date/married to black women?
We are a peculiar people. The color of tree bark! This is our Planet!
Tell the truth you only came here cause john oliver as of may 10th there is only 30 commonts here
Do not lie i see who was really here before
Share this video to EVERYONE YOU KNOW
Found out about it because of John Oliver. Actually clicked through because of Aldis Hodge, and the fact that I’m currently rewatching _Leverage_ which he stars in.
Represent all you want. You can't sell talentless. If your not good enough your not good enough. Ya'll.
