Agreed we never won ICC trophies but the aggression and passion he brought in the test format, no one did it before. I would put him number one all time Indian test captain. It’s very unfortunate we never won ICC trophy under him but that doesn’t take anything away from him being one of the greatest captain of Indian cricket history. And I believe it’s good decision of him leaving captaincy. Because now his own performance is getting better. No matter how aggressive nature he is but one thing we all should respect that how peacefully and without causing any drama he left the captaincy even board did dirty to him. He behaved completely opposite from his nature and didn’t create any havoc while leaving captaincy. He’s King for a reason 🤴

Talking about 2021, what he could if team didn't perform well, moreover the matches were mostly toss decided and he lost 2 tosses in 2 important matches. His captaincy was on point in later end of his career especially in tests.

Rohit just assumed full captaincy in 2022 and already won Asia Cup 2023. We can definitely give him a chance until 2025 WTC to win an ICC Trophy. Virat's removal from captaincy was not only due to No ICC Trophy it was also because his performance as a batsman was going downhill due to captaincy pressure

Rohit lost a home world cup after rigging the pitch( I don't mind rigging the pitch but jeet to jao lmao) in Ahmadabad NM stadium in front of 130K people. And up until the final everyone said Rohit kills the game in the powerplay and VK plays slow and selfish innings. And in final they realised how important was kohli's wicket, wanted him to stay till last over. The pitch was horrible horrible. In 2019 semi final Kohli conceded only 238 runs against NZ and batters including Rohit shitted in their pants not to forget Kohli got out on an Umpires call. So it means VK captained better in 2019 sf than Rohit in 2023 final and the world cup was in England. Sometimes I feel its all karma of what he has been through. He has won everything an ODI WC, Asia cups (t20I and Odi) champions trophy 2013 ,test maces, 3POTT trophies. only t20IWC and he will complete the cricket.
Hate or believe me , but till MS was captain, no conflict was there in BCCI regarding players ,even if was there, never came out , MS to Virat , smoothest captaincy transition ever in history, and Virat Kohli did it well. Reason he was forced to leave became an issue which was not the case in MSD to Virat's captaincy transition. And reality is , MS used to be too much strict on his decision and everyone has to follow, from management to selectors even Virat had that to some extent but after Virat left ,that sting operation of a BCCI officials where he said Virat have been forced by BCCI officials like Sourav Ganguly to leave the captaincy. And that never happened before, even at Ms captaincy period, sting operation were more common, still Nothing came out.

Virat was a tremendous leader. He could motivate the team and gave befitting reply to the opponents. Not many could do this. The only thing he lacked was strategy. Virat was very poor in terms of team selection, bowling changes and was heavily dependent on MS. In most of the ICC finals - we always had the wrong team.
Rohit is no different. Might be a good captain but again - lacks strategy.
I guess we need to have someone who can advise the captain and create a strategy. The current team management is mediocre.
If he was heavily dependent on dhoni then it means dhoni doesn't take good decisions and also dhoni doesn't see any spark in kohli.

Here's the thing....during 2020-21 it felt like Kohli had a lot of pressure on him as the Indian captain and his dip of form during the period of time was painful to watch.....maybe if he did become a bit egoistic, teaching a lesson might have helped him....however this decision actually ended up benifiting both parties tbh, BCCI got their own way, Rohit might be handling the pressure better....but Virat gained the most out of this situation, because he feels reborn, and in the form of his life, this WC might just be his best one ❤👑 I still feel he should have remained test captain

It was never about Kohli aur Rohit as a Captain.
It was always about the senior players not stepping up (including Virat and RS) when it was needed the most.
We won in 2007, 2011 and 2013 bcoz on the Final day the seniors stepped up, took charge and took the team home.
The fact that MS never joined the ICT in any form speaks a lot about the atmosphere developed post his exit as he always worked on his own terms.....
