it's crazy that we're all sad to see him leave when not long ago the club was demanding him to be sold for how poor he was under Lampard players come and go the one thing I will miss about him is his character. My favorite memory of this guy is when he won the second penalty against Leeds United he's on the ground smiling when it's given Jorginho scores and both of them jump and dance over to the away fans 😅 there's not alot of players on this planet that are like that and that's something that I want at least 1 person in the future like that in this team

I personally couldn't care less about the reasons to why Rudi and Christensen are leaving, they are both good players but i've seen way better leave this club and we've been fine.
My problem is with the board of this club! Horrible horrible job on their part, final contract offers for them should have been on the table back in the early days of the summer so we could either go forward with them or get rid of them!! Once again the people running this club show how stupid and short term they think
They're so worried about their "wage structure" when they're going to go out and spend the same amount of money if not more for the defenders we let go because of money. It's so dumb.

Many times, and more recently, players have been blackmailing clubs due to the financial situation around the world. More players these days are running their contracts down. It's not just a Rudiger and Andreas thing. Pogba, Kessie and many more know about signing-on fees. Sarr is big example at the club. It's not hard to see Rudiger comparing himself to Sarr on pay and the earnings one can get from a free transfer.
Signing on fees are the biggest reason why players CHOOSE to run their contracts down. He's been a big player for us since Tuchel was here, and that's why some fans are peeved and rightly so.

When your coach says he respects you during an interview then you must be exceptionally great. This will be a huge loss for Chelsea. He is not just hard working but he is the life and heart of the Chelsea team.

I saw that Chelsea Youth had said that we make excuses for Tuchel when every CFC manager has had difficulties with injuries etc. However, I think the quality of this squad is so imbalanced compared to previous ones. We don't have many leaders or truly consistent, quality players which previous squads have had. Anyway, I wish Rudiger all the best. I was against him when he was dropped and lampard was sacked but he was an absolute beast after that.
It’s been the same imbalances for all. Lampard suffered them too, once players got injured in early December. Tuchel found a way to bring a sense of valance for everyone, but the limits of this squad structure have been highlighted more now, ppl realise how serious it is

The issue with me is that we know there is a gap between us and Liverpool and we're now going to lose 3 defenders, with one being one of the best in the world. We aren't in a position as a squad to be able to afford to lose our best players. Our defense was the team's strength and now it's a weakness. As great as Chalobah and Colwill are it's impossible to expect them to come in and maintain that level. We also need to reinforce in midfield and attack as those are our weaknesses. We can't expect to sign 2 defenders, an elite midfielder, and better options in attack (whatever amount Tuchel wants) all in one window. Instead of closing the gap to City and Liverpool we're falling back towards Spurs, Arsenal, and United
It is what it is. Either way it is time to rebuild, post the Abramovich era too...

We signed Xavier Mbuyamba a. Outlet of seasons ago . Maybe it's time to give him a chance. He and Chalobah and Sarr can still have some time to understudy Thiago Silva... and we can move on from there . We will see what happens.

I think Rudiger should take a long look at Thiago Silva’s attitude. Thiago could easily have gone looking elsewhere after the way he’s played these last two years. How much does Rudiger really need to be happier 200k, 300k, it’s all down to greed. On another note I think Lampard treated him terribly and tried to use Rudiger as a scapegoat for his own failings as a manager, plus the board didn’t help. I think Rudiger wanted to prove a point to the board and had decided long ago that he was off. Remember Hazard, the grass is not always greener on the other side. So Tony actually played the club till the very last moment so to get his better contract parameters with RM costing them zero in transfer fees...Not exactly great for us for sure. AC is the same boat as him, Tomori brought over 30 million to the club for example. Tony did his best on the pitch for us but quite obviously was looking for way out all that time.

The last few years It has become a trend between footballers to not sign new contracts and instead wait for their contract to expire and see which team will give them the best offer, signing bonuses et cetera et cetera. If we had given such a big contract to 29 years old Antonio Rüdiger, how much money should we give to Mason Mount to Reese James and many others who are very young and talented? Rüdiger contract would have upset the wage structure of the whole football club. Yes he's a very good defender but I don't think that he deserves to upset our wage structure for him.
Our biggest mistake was that we sold last summer three excellent defenders, Kurt Zouma, Tomori and Guehi.
Kurt Zouma especially was very good, he was tested in Premier League for years and he was scoring many goals.
Christiansen on the other hand is a mediocre defender at best and he scored his first goal after many years in the club. Trevor Chalobah has scored already 4 goals. The Great Paolo Maldini had said in the past that the real world-class defenders are those that they also score many goals and help the club in this part of the game as well not only in defending.

Rudiger should move on, the Club was so quick to discard him during Lampard tenureeven sending him to Tottenham Hotspur onload. He did well in a back two in Roma. Football is a Job, a career, so if you don't value him much as other clubs do, he moves, we all do same in our various jobs.
