Funny tf2 competitive documentary, ripping off the emplemon hungrybox never ever video, i was planning on calling it "competitive TF2's last dance" but i felt that might insinuate that the comp scene was dead so i had to switch it up. Also a part of me died when i decided to cut the b4nny clockwork drama part of the video. I shed a manly tear when i had to cut "but while b4nny was dominating the lan, clockwork was dominating his girl". Truly sad times. Video should do well regardless. If you're interested in learning more about the topic, look it up yourself brother.
boodaloop - Hry
I know this video is about B4nny but can we talk about Yomps in the final I63 match? He did everything he could in order to beat Se7en in the final round. May he rest in peace.
mad respect to you for this.
I'm so glad I got to attend that one. I bumped into group while asking randos for directions
Yomps is just one of the best to ever do it. He was able to show up on any class and be an X factor for his team all while being an obviously positive presence in voice. A tragic loss to all who knew him, and a tragic loss for the TF2 scene, RIP king.
Very well made, and I hope it goes well in the algorithm. However, Comp TF2 is so hard to get views on because it isn't that talked about in the TF2 community, but I hope this does well.
I thought I was watching nikocado avocado 🥰🥰❤️🔥
Nobody talks about TF2 comp because TF2 is a casual game with niche competetive portion
While the skill of the players is not denied, the games are impossible to follow compared to something like CS, time to kill being short + most fights being so close quarters= constant jumping camera that rarely sees moments that determine how the map control changes in obvious ways
The average casual player is too stupid to understand competitive TF2.
TF2 wasn't ment to be competitive to begin with so maybe that's why
TF2 mfers call competitive boring while laughing at the same heavy taunt on the same friendly server for the 100th hour.
fr
It's crazy how it's no exaggeration to say b4nny *is* competitive tf2. Despite the game being 15 years old, with broken servers and a soured community, he remains. All hail Pipe Jesus, king of the airshots, Lord of making it FAT.
I've experienced random bots occasionally but never broken servers wdym?
You forgot the most important part, galaxy brain
@@Christoff070 He's exaggerating in the name of humour
@@tappajaav ahh ok, I'm dad age

Man, really doesn't feel like it has been over 10 damn years since the big event the intro touches on. Feels straight up bizarre.
Great video from start to finish!
Great watch, love it when people talk about the competitive side of the community as well. It's a shame that TF2 never really reached its full potential in terms of eSports (Imo)
I think TF2 eSports is just not interesting. But most eSports aren't interesting, but other ones just happened to get enough money, backing, were popular enough. TF2 comp stays grassroots but the grassroots just aren't compelling. The competetive games that are Poppin without big money are outliars like fighting games or rocket league
@@szymonmirek6389 nah the games are definitely very interesting. I think the issue is with the relative anonymity of the actual players. E-sports needn't be treated differently to shit like the NFL or NBA. People watch sports because they're entertaining, but they also get invested into the story lines. Just look at Melee, people like Hbox, Mango, Mew2King, etc. create storylines that people want to bare witness to. It's the same thing with people like Brady, Lebron, and Barry Bonds.
@@jollygrapefruit786 Yea I was big into pro csgo for years and that’s exactly what the production for the tournaments did. They always played little mini documentaries on players in between matches. Valve even did their own set called Player Profiles that you could download and watch on steam. They also of course had interviews and Q&A’s.
@@jollygrapefruit786 tf2 players are anonymous because the game isn't popular, not the other way around.
majority of these matches were uploaded years ago at low quality so apologies for the resolution in games
Why is your microphone at 10% volume
My apologies if this is unrelated, can you give me feedback or your thoughts on this edit? I left this game for years and I just wanted to make sure this video doesn’t remain a mystery: czcams.com/video/QMPeGqhrVR0/video.htmlfeature=shared
thank you for the vid man
Well made! Niche histories like this are awesome to see well done.
Yo nice vid! Was not expecting a clown core interlude, but it was much appreciated!
this video is really good, but the biggest problem here is you're missing half the story. Theres so much more than just what happened like ~10 years ago. Missing the entire era of rgl, missing the defeat in the past season or two of rgl. The better video (while more abridged) is "the best competitive game that nobody plays competitively" by pinguefy
much of this video was based off of a list i found documenting the best comp games ever, i only really talked about parts that has good games around them.
tbh overall it was just a challenge for my own storytelling
@@crossllc If you're interested, you could make a part 2 just from froyotech's continued history post i63 and then segue it into RGL-era tf2. You've got their early dominance again, losing S6? grand finals to Witness Gaming, then to G6 in S10 and S11, Ash drama part 2. lots of different rosters as well.
Loved this documentary piece though. These types of videos could be made for so many top tf2 players and I would love every one of them. It's unfortunate that there isn't more pro tf2 content on youtube.
If you ever make a part two I would love to hear it from shade’s pov and please include the whole Froyo Black movement
unfortunately b4nny is the only well know well documented one
Can't lie you got me good with that thumbnail I genuinely though this was a scorEsport vid but I'm glad i stuck around. Great vid
I used to watch B4nny all the time a few years ago just to pass time, but for some reason, the competitive TF2 is really unfamiliar to me and the most I hear of it are some blog posts. I think Valve should try again to bridge the gap more optimally with casual if that's possible, because I wasn't even aware of this whole thing.
yeah i only learned about most of this stuff in research
The one MAIN thing that put me off from the casual competitive matchmaking as a person who played 6s before. It forces you to play on directx9 and have all this graphics and extra stuff like ragdolls that lowers down my pc fps like crazy. My computer would crash at the loading screen and i would get temp banned for not joining the match in time…
If they want any chance of reviving it they should not force you to play at their settings.
@@alceusrydan6237 valve did destroy the mode. even it didn't have any elo at all for 2 years. It's a very big joke. And too when players were crashing when it changes those settings, it did auto abandon, nice to requeue every time. And if someone would lose they can abandon before and u don't get win. even u are best player what to do?. It was like this for a long time. Even after they did finally add MMR rating, since, they did not do any update, no map, no contract, not any thing. Biggest joker 'ranked' of any time, not even ea or activision can do as stupidly as this.
@@FWbitxhh oh damn that makes it all worse then. I didn’t know stuff like that because i could never play due to crashing on graphics change
glad to see tf2 content about competitive history its the best content
no clue how this hasnt come onto my feed yet, unironically the best tf2 video to come out this year and a refreshing break from the "30 days meta". beautifully made video.

OpenTTD music??? In my Tf2 video??? holy shit did I not expect that at 21:00 but a damn great choice

I hear that Danny Brown XXX beat in the intro clip, already know this is gonna be a good video.
After watching the video I can confirm it was a good video
Just from the first 10 seconds, the editing is amazing
TF2 and music from Felix Colgrave animations? I must be in heaven
b4nny posted on twitter the newest roster and it includes habib so i think only 1 or 2 of them are different

I dont understand why the algorithm hates comp tf2 content so much ive been seeking it out and its still hard to find

The story of tf2s greatest ego
Exactly.
Not even close
Hey, have you even met me? The single greatest tf2 player that ever lived? B4nny is pretty close though.
😉
And still the greatest to ever do it. TF2 wouldn't be the same without him.

I thought it was gabe.
I dunno if I'm just too high and missed it being mentioned but before they lost at i49 and made FROYO they did lose to Mix^ at i46, but in the grand final after beating all of the European teams in attendance. At this point EU was pretty much dominated by Epsilon and until this LAN happened we had never seen them get smoked so thoroughly.
After that happened, Europe shuffled Epsilon up to make their own superteam and a second similarly strong team was made with the broder guys. So basically during i46 Europe was weak and during i49 NA was weak. Also it's worth noting that clockwork and blaze were the key to his success for a little while.
Legendary Team Fortress 2 player.
