    Hi !
    It's been really interesting for me to have your post of view on this peticular model...
    I'm 70, had already more than 25 motorbikes of all kind... RV90, RD350LC, Norton Commando 750, lots of TS185. few CR125, IT175... I stop there but add the GasGas280 2017 at age 65. A revelation slow but sure I love Trial, but then the TW200 has so much to offer from small road to deep dirty trail in adventure mode.
    I'm looking having this bike then modified according to a trip from Quebec City to The Grand Canyon... 10,000 km
    Good video, good pace had an interesting time looking at your many comments about tank, had a Clarke on my DRZ, about the front rack over the headlight and many more.
    Thank you so much !

  • @stevegraboff1990

    Awesome vid! Thanks! Really want to get a taller seat and maybe taller sprockets (front sprocket is brain surgery). Agree with everything you said I clean and lube chain every fill up sometimes twice per tank, and 6500 miles on her i don’t see any signs of wear! Also, if you haven’t tried it, I run about 60 to 1 tcw-3 in with the gas. Haven’t put my tw on a Dino but feels stronger starts easier no smoke no smell and 94mpg on the streets. Tcw-3 is loaded with detergents (think valves) and is super slippery (slippery is good) and offers a whole lot of protection to the metal bits. Ever look inside a 50 year old outboard? Typically squeaky clean. And in case your an oil buff, I agree jaso-fd is a higher standard however it mite not be equal in corrosion aka oxidation inhibition

    • @YAMAHATDUBCLUB
      @YAMAHATDUBCLUB  Před 4 lety

      I had to look that up! What is TC w3? "TC stands for two-cycle. The W is merely standing in for water-cooled. And the 3 simply means that it's the third formulation of oil for two-cycle, water-cooled engines. ... That new formulation is known as TC-W3, and today's Yamaha oil easily makes the grade." SO, you are adding a little oil to the gas like a 2-stroke! Interesting! I will have to talk to my master tech at the shop about that. Of course if I do it will be YAMALUBE! hehehe

    When you stand up (if your head is higher than when you’re seated), the c.g. goes up, not down.
    What you may feel as a lower c.g. Is the center of rotation (of your mass) is now at the pegs rather than the seat.

      OH MY! Your expectations are about to be crushed! hehehe First, let me knock on wood... I've only been broken beyond ridable twice on my dirt bikes. First time was not trail fixable as the second-gear let loose in the transmission. Luckily it was the rare time I was riding with a buddy who could go get the pickup and retrieve my bike. Second time as on a different bike and the CDI box die and my wife had to drive over with the pickup and retrieve me. I've had several flats on all these bikes and have either changed the tube on trail, or road the bike out on the flat. I've ridden old bikes and new bikes and have been extremely lucky! I'm a big believer in PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE!!!
      So, back to my Tool Roll... It needs work, I don't feel that I have any real "tricks or treats" but I do have the basics.
      The Tool Roll video drops this weekend on Apr 12th.

      YAMAHA TDUB CLUB as a mechanic myself I am curious. And as there is a bit of “preventative maintenance” especially on bikes we have to call it periodic maintenance now due to its politically correct & dont get sued over. 😂.

    • @YAMAHATDUBCLUB
      @YAMAHATDUBCLUB  Před 4 lety +1

      AH! Heard that! Will have to adopt that into my vocabulary "periodic maintenance" as listed in the instruction manual! hehehe People I tell ya! I will openly state that I am not a "professional mechanic" just a "weekend warrior" mechanic who would up full time as my old profession has not reinstated yet. The shop I work at, I started as a customer who would drag up all my projects to them and they noted I was "handy" and sympathetic to my "life situation" and brought me on! I have been learning immensely under the tutelage of Eric Gray of #GustinMotorsports, a 30-year veteran professional mechanic!

      YAMAHA TDUB CLUB. Thats awlsum to be hands on learning like that & I mean that from someone whos been under others wings... its irreplaceable knowledge not like specs out of a manual & speaking of I wouldnt know what an instruction manual says. I havent owned a bike in 25 years & even then it was a 1970 Honda trail 70. CANT WAIT TO GET A TDUBS though just waiting to see where this pandemic goes 🤞. Im just a road tech that travels place to place within where I live & works on forklifts, loaders, yard dawgs & any other material handling equipment as well as cars & boats or whatever on the side. @@YAMAHATDUBCLUB glad you like the tip. I live I Germany and use a stuff called Pattex (amazon.com ASIN B00E3FAH42) but Gorilla seems to do similar. For max strength, apply to both surfaces, allow to dry for 5 minutes, re-apply and put parts together when dry in 10 minutes. Careful coz when parts touch they are stuck. For an awkward corner joint like your bag, stick one side first, up to the corner, then the other. Bit of pressure on the part after is good.
      Used this stuff in industry for years. Good luck.

    Great video of the mods needed. Thank you. The T-Dub is very affordable , both new and especially used. But I haven't pulled the trigger yet due to the amount of modifications that must be done to make it ride-able for me, for both ergonomics and suspension. Maybe someday soon!.

      @@YAMAHATDUBCLUB thanks for the reply but I guess I wasn't clear. I haven't bought the TW yet, but really want to. I have a Husky TE310R right now and it is a great bike, but likes to be ridden aggressively. I'm 51 now and like the more slow, relaxed, exploration type riding and think the TW would be a great fit. I am just hesitant because of the suspension and power. What ballpark $$ are we talking about at TCS for forks and springs? I am about 190-200lbs without gear so I think suspension would be first on my list.

    • @YAMAHATDUBCLUB
      @YAMAHATDUBCLUB  Před 4 lety +2

      You are mentally there and of the right "mind-age-set!" hehehe I am over the 50-fence as well and that is exactly why we bought the TW200's for the "more slow, relaxed, exploration type riding!" And while it is spot on for all that, I found myself riding the bike more than my other larger dualsport and wound up selling it.
      Also, at this age in life, I simply want a more simple life and less stuff, so bye-bye to the other bike! Still have a street bike, but that is for the wifey and I to ride. But, back to your TW200 point. As you are obviously a seasoned rider and coming from a bigger bike, it's all about your attitude in how you approach the TW200. While the bike is perfect for "more slow, relaxed, exploration type riding" you too have to change your mental game. The best thing to do is "zero out" your expectations and just remember simply riding again as a kid.
      Also, the TW200 makes you re-think all your riding which I've found really fun! With that, traveling long distances on the TW200 makes you take roads you've never thought about riding before and THAT IS THE FUN PART! Exploring both the near and far in a whole new manner!
      Now, suspension... With sacrificing the other dualsport bike in my stable, I am riding the TW200 beyond the intended nature of the bike. But even my other bikes have all received suspension work, so the TW200, in my opinion, deserves suspension work as well. Like the KTM 950ADV, the suspension work benefited this bike immensely as it was a nose-diver at the slight touch of front brake or even chopping the throttle. The TW200 with TCS Powersports makeover saw the same benefits.
      The additional benefit of riding the TW200 for you will be the "self-teaching" yourself to use the front brake! Especially if you get the front suspension rebuilt, as I have put a lot more time into intentionally using the front brake. (Hopefully, you will get a 2001+ TW200 as that is the year the front drum brake upgraded to a disk brake.) Why such emphasis on "front braking?"
      All TW200's have a rear drum brake. Changing rear brake drum shoes is not as fun as changing disk brake pads, so I use the rear brake less than normal. The rear drum brake squeaks so it sounds cheap, thus I don't even want to touch it, especially on the street, out in public. Yes, petty, but when you've owned modern "rear-disk" bikes, you grow a custom to and have expectations.
      I hate squeaky brakes! So, I have forced myself to use the front brake a whole lot more than I ever have, and my skill-set has dramatically changed! Proof us old-dawgs can learn new tricks!
      I feel that as long as you "zero out" your expectations you will find the TW200 oh-so-perfect for a "more slow, relaxed, exploration type riding!"
      I did not get the suspension sorted until a couple of dozen rides or more! So get your TW200 and go explore and when you feel as though this bike will stay in your stable, then start your upgrades! Also too, it looks as though you are right here in SoCal? If so, upon you getting your TDUB, we will have to get you out and I will put you on my bike to feel the TCS mods. Nick of #TillDeathDualUsSport and Jason of #PedalsBikeShop in Riverside can also vouch for the TCS-TW200 sus-mod. In fact, Jason is who introduce me to Todd at #TCSPowersports, so tell him we sent ya!

    check with friends/family to see if someone who sews can repair it for you. if not, there is usually a sewist at most drycleaners. i am so cheap. i repair things rather than buy; esp if it is a beloved item.
    what headlight do you have? JNS? i was thinking of pairing with a set of acerbis vision handguards. you can’t have too much light.
    i am assuming when you say roll bag you mean a cylindrical dry bay in which you roll the top down to close. why don’t you sew/make your own: get some lighter weight but durable canvas (maybe even painters canvas), then water proof iron paraffin wax (flammable)or bees wax (expensive) or waterproof another way, .collect nylon strapping and closure (belts or backpacks at thrift shops & little snip & burn to prevent unraveling). then use a simple design and sew your own. then re-seal/waterproof all areas sewn. boom bada ching cause it’s cheap. maybe i should make a video. i sew if you provided supplies and lived close. i bet a friend would do that for you, a good vintage mechanical machine or a current heavy duty will be needed.
    just heard you r in Cali. i bet you could fine a used heavy sail and someone with a sail rite sewing machine (check with locals at harbor, west marine, etc...).
    a friend throwing out (or one on side of road) a leather couch, or a leather couch too bad to resale at salvation army....the leather could be oiled and it would make a sweet roll bag that would be easy to wipe down. yes, i have torn down a couch just to keep the leather to make stuff. i have a tool roll planned for leather or waxed canvas.
    seafarers used canvas and wax for eons to keep themselves dry(er).

    How much should I pay for a 2018 with 1000 miles?

    • @YAMAHATDUBCLUB
      @YAMAHATDUBCLUB  Před 3 lety

      Prices for used TW200's have been creeping up over the last few years. My 2016 with 300-miles on it cost me $3,500 in 2017 and everyone is stating the prices of used is almost a easy choice to just go new because they are holding value. SO, either you hold and wait for a deal... but too, there is 2018 w/ 1,000-miles garaged and pristine or 2018 w/ 1,000-miles of BEAT and sitting out in the weather for 3-years... So, it all depends and depends on your emotion!
      BUT TOO, if you are on the fence between New/ Used, have you read this:

While I wasted your ear-space, you can or could have be poppin' open links into new windows and hitting buy it now buttons like it's going out of style! Like 1987 when the TW200 first came onto the market! With that, each product listed has a link right next to it.

      I like your screen name, I trust you... I do talk too much and too slow! But, if you going to pass judgement, first we have to define the standards of what is too little, just enough and too much. Then we have to determine what is the rate of speed in which speech is delivered, is the standard. With these elements, then I have a "standardize form" in order to work from. Am I talking too much again, already... Good thing your a fast reader or this would have been double-too-long!🤔😁
