In this video I'm going to share with you how to seal and reseal stamped concrete. I'll show you the method I use to apply the concrete sealer and tell you what my top two concrete sealers are for stamped concrete.
Sealing stamped concrete helps protect the concrete from the outside elements and it also provides some color enhancement.
Stamped concrete should be sealed about every other year if you use a topical acrylic solvent based sealer. If you use the penetrating sealer I recommend (Lastiseal) then that's seal it and it's good for up to 15 years.

Expensive but worth every penny, Sprays a big pattern and chemicals don't hurt the seals. Just clean it good after use, it'll outlast a truckload of cheap sprayers.

Two years old but fantastic video. Update…
Just completed my pool patio and an adjacent patio with the AR350. Some post application tips for anyone who is looking to use this sealer.
Spraying and backrolling gives you a really nice and consistent look. My pavers are textured so backrolling was essential to preventing pooling in spots. If you have an in ground pool with a loop loc cover…be sure to cover the grommets around the pool. I used painters tape and carefully applied it then used a razor blade to trim around. When I was done with the job the tape came off and it saved me from having these things sealed shut which would have been a nightmare.
Definitely use a paint shield or piece of cardboard as shown in this video. No matter what you do you WILL get spray in the pool. Before the end of the coat application I added some enzymes to the pool which seemed to help clear thjngs up. You can also use clarifier.
The anti slip additive….do not mix this in the sealer. It will clog your sprayer and be a disaster. Also don’t add it to a container for brushing or rolling. I hand brushed the coping around the pool and calculated how much anti slip to add to a pint and figured I would at least get the coping done. The additive settles to the bottom like sugar and doesn’t mix well. The solution? Drill holes in the top of the bottle like a salt shaker. As you go along shake the additive on and backroll. I read a recommendation to use a hand spreader (for seed) but the opening may be too large. The shaking method worked great.
Have all of your tools ready beforehand. Use an 18 inch roller for the back rolling and get an anti shedding roller. This is a two person job for sure. I can’t speak on different sprayers but I went for a steel one appropriate for solvents made my the same company mentioned in this video. Got from Amazon for about 118 bucks. Worked great. Keep a bucket with a garbage bag in it handy for each time you fill the sprayer. After you pump it spray into the garbage back. The first spray after filling tends to come out inconsistent. So knock that out in the bag and you’re good to go without any drips or weird lines.
If you have anything you don’t want sprayed cover it. Sprinkler heads in particular. Just some painters tape or whatever.
This sealer looks fantastic. Popped the color in the pavers and changed the look entirely. Before sealing they looked great when wet but light and faded when dry. Now they look as they should. Good luck and take your time preparing for the job.

  • @publicserviceannouncement4915

I do commercial concrete and many of our flat work pours need salt protection. I use CureShield EX on sidewalks (it’s a cure and seal so you can apply it immediately after finishing) but I also found that it works great for stamped concrete. I apply it as normal after antiquing and it looks great, penetrates so it’s not too slippery, AND protects from salt. Hands down my favorite sealer.

Good presentation here Mike, however, I'm wondering why you wouldn't choose FoundationArmor's SX5000WB for a penetrating sealer over RadonSeal's product? FA's pricing in the quantities you'd typically be purchasing are pretty aggressive by comparison and it's a high solids Silane-Siloxane with great durability.

Hi Mike! I’ve been using Diamond Clear by Euclid on my 7 year old stamped concrete patio. I had read that you should use xylene to bring the color and shine back instead of the sealer every year to prevent buildup. That’s what I did and now whether I use xylene or the sealer, where the sun hits it the hardest I’m getting that milky look within 2 weeks of application, then it begins to look real dry and colorless like there’s no sealer there at all . But the shaded areas are great so I really feel it’s UV degradation that’s happening. Would changing to Foundation Armor help or what are your thoughts? Thank you!

I just finished first coat of AR350 around pool. They recommended the fine anti slip additive. Jury seems out on how best to apply it. It says to mix with the sealer but if you are spraying, this will almost certainly clog the sprayer. Another suggestion is to use a hand held broadcast spreader. Only I think these won’t close to narrow enough opening to prevent an over application. Im going to drill some holes in the top of the cap on the bottle and see if hand shaking the application will be best. These bottles aren’t cheap so the proper rate of application is important.

I have owned a Chapin Xtreme sprayer (red metal one) for several years and planned on using it to apply the sealer. my concrete contractor recommended a solvent based sealer made by SpecWest. He told me not to use the Chapin sprayer because the sealer would eat it up and it would clog. I went to buy the sealer today and he dealer at SpecWest told me the sealer MIGHT eat the inside of the tank and I would get black specs in my finished product.
