Also never try to steal a car. It is highly illegal, and can land you in jail for a long time. Also it is simply a jerk move. That will ruin a random strangers week, maybe even months. For all you know that car has irreplaceable sentimental value.
I worked as a valet in my younger days and if you didn't have the ticket that I gave to you then you're not getting a car. I wouldn't simply hand off keys to some random person without doing at least a little investigating...
In many 5 stars hotels, you HAVE to hand them the car if you want to park in their underground parking; and then you sign a paper at the reception when you check in that has a tiny hidden agreement that says "the hotel and its staff is not responsible for any damages done to the vehicle". We found about this the hard way, when the hotel scratched my dad's Bentley. My dad has a REALLY good lawyer though.

I'm a valet and there's plenty of reasons why people would want to valet. If you can afford it, it just gives customers less things to worry about when they're going out to dinner. I called the dealer and asked their shuttle van to pick me up. When I got there, I went to the cashier and paid the service bill. I then walked to the guy with the key. I pointed at a key fob with a rainbow Hawaiian keychain. I honestly thought that it was my aunt's because she had one like it. The guy took the key and drove the car to the front. I got in and left. Later that night, my aunt came to my house and thank me for the favor. I gave her the key fob and she said "that must be yours... I didn't know you got a new Audi?" I didn't... I told her those were for "her" Audi. We walked to the garage and there it was, an almost-new Audi A6. My aunt freaked out because it was not her A6.(different color, different year) The dealership was already closed at that time. First thing on Monday, my aunt came to my house again and we drove that Audi back to the dealer. The actual owner didn't come to pick up his/her car on Friday, so nobody knew about the mix-up except us. The service advisor apologized and got my aunt's car out front. Oh well...
As a valet during school breaks, if someone has lost their ticket (which happens all the time), I ask them if they have any type of keychain on their keys and 100% of the time, I can see its their keys.

This happened to us. Literally a nightmare!😢. IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED AT THE ROSEVELT FIELD MALL LMAO. 😂💀 I had literally just gotten the car like 5 days before. I spent 78k on my Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE. We went to the mall and left our car with the Valet. When we were done shopping we hand them our ticket and the dudes like “oh your sister got it” and I’m like “uhm sir my sister passed away when she was a baby” and he starred at me. Luckily I called Land Rover and they were able to track it down. When we got a Uber to the location a cop had pulled the lady over for speeding lmao! She was arrested. But THANK GOD I got my car back! I worked so hard for it!

As someone who’s worked at many different hotels before, let me just tell you how easy it is to pull this off..
As a valet during school breaks, if someone has lost their ticket (which happens all the time), I ask them if they have any type of keychain on their keys and 100% of the time, I can see its their keys.
I would ask for id then check the registration.
D Hutchins it's easier to do a key check than a car registration check. If you borrowed someone's car you wouldn't be able to get it back

To make it fail safe you can ask to describe any item that's in the trunk or areas like that.
So if they say, 'a rolled up piece of carpet and a shovel'. Then you know for certain it's theirs.

I had literally just gotten the car like 5 days before. I spent 78k on my Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE. We went to the mall and left our car with the Valet. When we were done shopping we hand them our ticket and the dudes like “oh your sister got it” and I’m like “uhm sir my sister passed away when she was a baby” and he starred at me. Luckily I called Land Rover and they were able to track it down. When we got a Uber to the location a cop had pulled the lady over for speeding lmao! She was arrested. But THANK GOD I got my car back! I worked so hard for it!
