  • In this video we change out Garry's dangerous chain and sprocket. These were the original ones and had been on the bike 6 years. The upgrades will make the safer, faster and feel so much better.

    Chains don't stretch - the internal rollers wear down over time

      That's true yes. But people say stretch to cover what's going on.
      But yes your right

    You bought the xj600 as a touch up not a rebuild lol.
    Polish the pants out of it & like you say make it a decent winter hack...£800 sorted then look for the proper winter project or update/upgrade your street rod.
    Stay safe and ride steady Charlie 🤟

      It has a retaining pin. You will see it if you look at yours

    I like the front fairing on the jx600, but i do agree that the stance will up grade the look if the fairing came off and a new round head light on, bikes always perform at there best if the original exhaust stay on, but if this is a play toy for you and us to watch a transformation then the world is your oyster charlie,
    could this be a futuristic bobber ?

      @motorcyclerescuer  Před 4 lety +2

      Nooooooooo lol no more cafe or bobber for now. They have killed me. I've loved doing them but it's been difficult. This will be a basic streetfighter conversion and a cheap winter hack for someone.

    Pls. To show how you disconnect the chain linkage.

    • @motorcyclerescuer
      @motorcyclerescuer  Před rokem +1

      It's different on different chains I'm afraid. Some you may need to cut of. Or find the main link and grind back the retaining metal.
      Cutting is your best bet

    I own the Rks Titanic 150.
    I'm thinking of replacing the rear gear of my motor.(43)
    The aim is to relax the engine.,; the gear ratios are too short, the vehicle can't lengthen, you need to shift quickly, the speed ends quickly, I don't want to shout too much, I'm looking for some 6th gear, I usually ride this engine in reverse, without losing much traction, I was told to make the rear gear 36-38, I'm happy with my engine in the city and I also travel on long roads, they said that Ybr fits as a rear sprocket, otherwise where can we find it, regards, I wanted to get your advice for the front and rear gears, and what brand should I wear as a front spoiler?

    • @motorcyclerescuer
      @motorcyclerescuer  Před 2 lety +1

      I'm not great with gearing if I'm being honest. I would probably try going 1 down on the front first as this is easier then 3 up on the rear. 1 down should do enough for you to feel like the gearing is better. Although 1 down will give more low end power and I feel like you want longer gears. 1 up if you want that mate, on the front. Or 2 or 3 down on the rear

    Like the channel you just meed to practice with the camera as most the time what you show on camera is off and we can't see.. Also a chain will stretch but not as much as everyone thinks.. And yes the split link needs to be the way you put it other wise with the chain spilt on the other way it will pop off as the chain with the torque helps pull against the split link and holds it on

      Hi buddy. I don't film everything because some stuff is self explanatory and I will have shown it or discussed it on a other video. Carb cleans for example. I just don't have the time to do all the editing.

    I was afraid that the front sprocket isn't gonna leave a place to this washer which can lead to a real hazard..
    Did you use blue or red loctite and do you really think it is save to order an improved sprocked but one's that doesn't give enough place to a washer to sit on the shaft too ?

    • @motorcyclerescuer
      @motorcyclerescuer  Před 3 lety +1

      Some are designed not to use the washer so it depends what sprocket you use. I don't use lock tight on the sprocket.

    Hi Motorcycle Rescuer
    The Cush drive will need to be changed or I think you will need another new chain and sprocket very soon

    • @motorcyclerescuer
      @motorcyclerescuer  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes that's a good point mate. Garry is ordering one soon. Sadly these drives don't last very long anyway but for a few pound it's well worth doing. He is getting it done soon mate.
