Only 15 minutes by train from Manhattan, and historic to boot, the idyllic enclave of Forest Hills Gardens has remained something of a hidden gem in Queens. It is believed that Forest Hills Gardens was specifically modeled after Hampstead Garden Suburb on the outskirts of London. The community's winding tree-lined streets, English-inspired streetlamps and graceful architecture are the work of architect Grosvenor Atterbury and landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr.

I live in Forest Hills Gardens and this video does a great job of capturing the vibe of the area. It is sedate (except on Halloween, where it is a great place to trick or treat), beautiful, close to great shopping and you can get to Manhattan in 2O minutes. Little known detail: the Gardens has the greatest concentration of tree cover in New York City outside of the city parks. By the way, that also means we have to rake a lot of leaves!

Those Tudor Revival Homes are simply stunning, my favorite style of house. I couldn't resist logging onto Zillow, and these stately homes are just as gorgeous on the inside as outside. Surprisingly, HOA membership & dues are "voluntary." As one would expect, these homes are well into the million-dollar price range, and most are multi-million dollars homes. The condominiums approach one million. The covenants are restrictive so that "junk" house at the 45-minute mark was very unexpected. Thank you for sharing & taking me to another place & time for 58 minutes & 17 seconds because for a guy that mows his own lawn & rakes his own leaves, this is as close as I'll get.

I am compelled to both “watch” and “comment” simply because of the astounding beauty and harmony involved in planning , designing and building such an unexpected classical gem in Queens, NY , of all places. The greatest feature of this century old (+) development is without a doubt … it’s enduring beauty.

Безумно красиво!!! Просто аж до мурашек)) Мы все почему-то привыкли к тому, что американская малоэтажная застройка, это что-то такое типовое, одинаковое, неприглядное. Но как мы видим, это абсолютно не так) Здесь практически каждый дом индивидуален и отличается от других. Понимаю, что это дорогой район и дома здесь вероятно ощутимо дороже, чем в других районах с типовой застройкой. Но всё же натуральный камень и огромное количество зелени, задают тон и делают этот район действительно особенным, каким-то магическим, словно из сказки. Очень красиво) Особенно осенью 😌🎃🍁🍂

Forest Hill looks a bit like my town Buer. IT is less noisy than Manhattan. The fact that DJs come from this district is enormous. How did he get used to Manhattan?
