As a music critic, Taemin saved SM musically this year. I cannot compare the amount of musical perfection Taemin has to other artists in their label. Taemin is above that. Taemin basically saves SM's long creative drought. Taemin saved the Electronic scene in K-Pop.

BRAVE Sadly, many people will still recognise songs such as Kick It and Tiger Inside easier than Criminal. Not that those two aren’t iconic songs, it’s just that those two songs were promoted when we were already having this pandemic and if sm was willing to put in the same amount of effort for this release as they did for those two songs, its popularity would explode.
BRAVE even before everyone was doing tropical house and I was getting SICK of it to the point of abandoning Koop, he came out with MOVE and I was - completely floored.

PD it really saddens me how bad his promotion is. He's practically begging the fans to watch his MV and asking what he can do to increase the views... Isabely Montenegro it makes me so mad, Taemin has been working in this industry for so many years. We could say that he owns it, he's literally the king of kpop, the standard no one can reach, yet his agency doesn’t promote him the way he deserves. He truly is a diamond in a company that doesn’t deserve him.

We're literally doing EVERYTHING we can, funding our own ads for him, watching the MV, begging others to please watch it and support Taemin, listen to the song on Genie and Melon, itunes and Spotify....but there's only so much we as fans can do. With literally almost zero support and promotion from his own agency..... how are people supposed to know that he as a solo comeback running right now?
I guess the restriction from the COVID19 is making promotion hard as well... But yes SM promotion team can definitely do better than this as they mainly focused on SuperM... I hope things get better for the Act 2!!
I love both Move and Want but this... I think he really managed to outdo himself. I think this song really cemented him as the best male soloist around, regardless of youtube view numbers. You should check the dance practice, you'll love it.
I'm just too sad that the MV views is too low. It deserves to have 100M views. How come other artists have a lot of views even though their songs are just nah.....I saw his IG live and he was asking fans how to make people watch his MV/ listen to his album broke my heart in to pieces. Other companies make their mvs ads, so they get views which are undeserved. I think it's ok for Taemin to rest now knowing that he's achieved results in ways which is hard to tamper with. Putting music videos as ads is basically paying for views, but the fact that Taemin got so many ranks 1s show that people do appreciate his music much more than what CZcams views would suggest.

If anything, Taemin's probably getting new ideas for his future albums since he's exploring so many different styles and genres with SuperM and mixing with people from such diverse groups with such different discographies. I think this SuperM experience is enriching his artistic potential. Also, he's gaining more fame through them. For example, I've seen so many NCTZens and SuperM-only supporters speaking out in his favour these past few days. SuperM should definitely stay.... however, at the same time, SM should also focus on his solo activities more. It's the company's responsibility to promote their artist and their behaviour is extremely disheartening.

I'm actually physically struggling with how GOOD this song is. The 5 million views this MV got are not shabby, but I absolutely don't understand how it is not attracting infinitely more attention. For me it's one of the best songs of this year - not just of kpop releases. Someone explain why this isn't blowing up.

Move wasn’t well promoted though. It wasn’t as bad as this, but it was insufficient and far from the best promos he’s gotten. He didn’t even get any music show wins for it. And he complained openly back then too “I wish my company would work as hard as I do”. It was only after Shawols made covering the choreo a big trend that it got the hype it deserved, and so The Move Disease started, but it was still too late to have any proper impact on statistics like first week album sales and streams, music show votings etc. Even though it’s widely recognized nowadays, Move only started its journey to become iconic a few weeks after it had dropped.

I know, i feel so bad because he always works so hard to make the most amazing production and yet he doesn't get the recognition he deserves. I know numbers are not the most important thing, but it still hurts that they don't reflect all of the extraordinary work he does. He's technically dual-promoting but honestly only his friends are inviting him to their works to promote Criminal, SM's not doing anything for it and somehow he ended up starting stages a week after release, when Namjoo and YooA who released their solos on the same day are doing stages this week? How SM is treating the comeback that he was waiting to give literally since he released Want is really disappointing, but Taemin himself sure isn't.
This is one of my favorite Taemin tracks, I think the album may even top Press It for me which is hard. The thing about this song is that once I heard it, it wouldn't leave my head. I was streaming it quite seriously since Taemin asked, and when I was playing MVs in-between I just wanted to come back to Criminal. It's just...Amazing. That's all there is to it. The final run of the chorus? Yeah. Perfection.
The synth and the “destroy me more” had me jaw-droppingly wrecked the entire time. I needed a moment after the mv finished 😂

As you said, Move was more iconic because it pushed so many envelopes. Criminal doesn't do exactly that, but i takes what it is and makes it into unrivaled perfection. He's known as one of, if not the most talented dancer in all of kpop. Definitely look up more of his dancing. Also look at Kai from EXO. He's another one who has stunning dancing ability, esp when he incorporates his ballet training.

you know, i love when people appreciate and acknowledge taemin's talent and hard work. when he debuted, so many people criticized him and said he wasn't a good singer, etc. but this man...he worked his ass off, improved at singing and dancing, and released multiple albums in korean and japanese. he started his own movement and for that reason, Move is incredibly iconic. Taemin, after over 10 years, still keeps improving and becoming the best. there's no one doing it like him. Also, he has a shit ton of work i really can't imagine how he manages to deal with everything and still do his best and show it. king of kpop indeed.

"Criminal" promotion officially ended with only three music broadcast stages left. For the uploading of "The stage" video produced by SM, the first week of the two-week promotion period was flew without any promotion.
good news about the one-take choreo: there's a dance practice! thank you for the reaction, i loved it :). For me, this is my favourite Taemin comeback. He's taken everything he's done so far as an artist and put it all together then built on it. With that, i would describe this MV as maximalist. Although it's not sexy like move or want, there is a magnetism in this MV that i cant look away from, which really reflects the lyrics. I really appreciate how he isn't afraid to take risks and to do something different. Each time Taemin has a comeback i wonder what he's going to do next and how he's going to top himself, but i'm never prepared for it. He always blows me away, and i'm so excited for Act 2!!

Criminal is my favourite Taemin song as well. Its so passionate... The whole mv is just beautiful.

me too.. like he needs to know that a lot of people are recognizing his talent and his music.
Tae min is the definition of Kpop. He is the status quo. And then he breaks it and pushes the boundary. Vocals, visuals, choreography, performance, stage presence. He is the whole package. This is why I got I to Kpop over 10 years ago.
Had NOT made the connection with the driving, building energy of 'Gravity" yet, but it makes complete sense why I love both of these songs now. Taemin is my absolute favorite, but I'm still able to be critical of him. That being said, I think this is one of the most perfect songs/MVs that has ever come out of k-pop. The onslaught of art direction, performance, choreo, all driven by a perfect song and an amazing vocal evolution for Taemin comes together to keep you coming back over and over!
