  • I recently received The Rolling Stones in Mono box set. This updated version is also limited to 10,000 copies like the first edition, but this time all the records were pressed in color.
While I never heard the original mono box, some who have both say this updated version sounds better as it's not the same transfer. In my opinion, it sounds great but I go into more details in this video.

Agree they sound amazing! Did not expect this from today,'s vinyl. Records very clean right out of the box All records perfect no warps.. Yes agree could have been a hardcover book and original inners as well as a lenticular cover for majesties request.

Good review thanks! Pros and cons well highlighted. Very happy with my copy and surprising good quality for a boxset made by CZ (Revolver coming from same factory has been a warping nightmare ).

Thanks for watching! I think CZ is such a massive facility that they’re prone to more problems with QC than a smaller operation. I have stuff from there that’s fine and other things not so much.

Hello, i think the reason your vintage mono records look clean yet have surface noise is probably because you dont have a mono switch on your amp. That switch will eliminate the dead channel that will only produce noise. Modern mono pressings are pressed differently so its not a problem on them.

Plastic ono band is a tough listen for me especially mother. I have the plastic ono box set the 5.1 disc is very good. The imagine box is excellent, the only lennons to avoid is two virgins and lions. The last 2 albums double fantasy and milk and honey are half john half yoko but over the years yoko's songs have grown on me.

Hi from Australia, I have only played a couple of albums, but I thought the Bass was overblown and boomy a bit fake sounding but overall not bad sounding 🤷🏻‍♂️

yeah they unfortunately think because they have more accurate cutting heads they theoretically can get away with more bass and over compression (Hot - or brick walled) but it ends up not working out through the cartridge and audio system.. makes for mud - they do it with highs as well. Not a new problem though but way more common now. Over modulating the cutting head back in the day simply caused a playback stylus to jump out of the groove .

No didn't pick it up I won't buy any of these terrible reissues from digital sources. I have the original mono mixes..that's all one needs.

and to be fair I get it's subjective. That's my views. If you like the more sterile sound , it would be amazing. Not trying to bring your review down. I do listen to digitized rips from Vinyl that I procure.. and some sound better than the LP due to bringing the noise floor down. Good work with your reviews .
