  • Black Sabbath Tony Martin box set “Anno Domini 1989-1995“ confirmed release date set!
Tony Martin fans the good news has finally arrived … we have a release date for the box set compiling most of the albums from the Tony Martin era of Black Sabbath …. Tony Martin was the vocalist from 1987 through to 1997. Rhino will be issuing that box set, “Anno Domini 1989-1995“, on May 31st.
.. the recordings featured in the set are “Headless Cross“, “Tyr” and “Cross Purposes“, all have been remastered. A sonically updated version of “Forbidden” featuring a new mix done by the band’s own legendary guitarist Tony Iommi will also be included. A replica concert book from the band’s 1989 ‘Headless Cross” tour and more will also be included .. . Pre-orders are available now through Rhino.com. here. store.rhino.com/en/rhino-stor...
Not included in the set is the band’s album “The Eternal Idol“, which was the band’s first album with Martin. Classic Rock report that its omission was a conscious decision, with the set intended to focus on ‘missing’ albums from the band.
Speaking on his decision to give “Forbidden” a new mix, Iommi stated:
“I was never happy with the guitar sound and Cozy was definitely never happy with the drum sound. So, I thought it would be nice to do it for him in a way. I just felt that, without changing any of the songs, there was an opportunity to go back and bring out some of the sounds and make it more what people would expect Sabbath to sound like.”
Remastered streams of “Headless Cross” and “Anno Mundi” are on CZcams now see below..:

What a rip off! No extras such as demos, rehearsals, live tracks. Instead we get the 3 bonus tracks that were on the Japan editions which I paid $35 for the japan CD just for the one bonus track. Tony Martin has stated he has lots of rehearsals recorded plus there is a version of "Evil Eye" that has Eddie Van Halen doing the solo. All other bands give their fans extras & rare tracks on their box sets but NO, not Sabbath. With the exception of the new mix of "Forbidden" there is nothing on this that us diehard fans don't already have. Very disappointed in this. They had a chance to make this a special release & they blew it!

No new Sabbath material can be released unless three original members participate in the band project . Tony Iommi and Ozzy Osborne are 50/50 co-owners of the name Black Sabbath that agreement was reached out of court between Tony and Ozzy what material Tony Martin has must include 3 original members of
Black Sabbath for it to be called Black Sabbath. Anno Domini Black Sabbath all material was recorded before the lawsuit was settled out of court. Edward Van Halen was signed to another record company when Evil Eye was recorded in 94 and management didn't allow them to release it back then.

@@richardhincemonThanks for the reply. Yes, I knew about this arrangement. However, the rare songs I am talking about are NOT new. They were recorded back in 1995 when it was just Tony Iommi in the band. No Ozzy, No Geezer or Bill. Since the demos, rehearsals would be from 1995 I wouldn't consider them "new" They are from 1995 when the original band were not together. This material should be "grandfathered" & should be specific to the "Forbidden" release. Point in case. Take a look at Ozzy's greatest hits Cd called, "The Ozzman Cometh". It included 4 Black Sabbath early session songs. Tony, Geezer & Bill were NOT in Ozzy's solo band. So why is it that Ozzy can put out a compilation/ greatest hits Cd with 4 Sabbath songs on it but Tony Iommi can't? Not fair.
