When i get circumcised, i scream so hard it woke and alerted all of my neighbor and one police officer because of my screaming.

My parents didn't give me anything since we lack of money. Also my parents told me to hid it from my friends.
If my friends find out that I just circumsized, they will ask me to do celebration party (selametan). And my parents is lack of money to cook yellow rice (if you are curious about yellow rice, just go to Kobo's birthday stream). It is bit sad experience from my childhood.😢

@@Mart-E12 It's just tumeric rice, which is kinda pain to make, it takes you 3 hours just to cook everything, which is why it's only made on special occasions.
Reason why some people _really_ don't want to talk about their circumcision, is that it is the family of the child who was circumcised that _has_ to feed everyone. There's this irritating custom called the "kenduri", which is kind of a social gathering of friends, relatives and neighbours, to get around and celebrate whatever the occasion might be (it could be a return from the Hajj, the abovementioned circumcision, or a completion of a _nazar_ , a kind of "I will donate to charity or hold a kenduri when I completed a certain task"). The problem is that currently it is a corrupted practice where the community expects something from the host, rather than the community chipping in to aid/assist the host in holding the gathering.
Tbf if ure poor even a small gift will makes u happy, it's not about the money value but about how u value the gift

@Rhadaus ahh ok cool, so like most of the Abrahamic religions. I think Judaism also is mandatory, whereas Christianity is more optional. That being said, at least from my Philippine Catholic background, it's not religiously mandatory but almost culturally mandatory to do it as a baby. After living in North America for a while, I did notice that Catholics here treat it here as more of an optional thing and most don't go through it.

and IIRC people in the west didn’t use a bidet, and mainly using urinoir that didn’t have best PP cleaning experience, on top of not being circumcised IMAGINE the hygene…

Let me tell you mine experience on how circumcision is done here in one province in PH. This is usually done in your last grade in elementary school before entering high school (11-12 years old). You erect an inverted L shape guava stick on the ground which the top is flatten. You will sit in front of the stick where you insert the flatten stick in the skin of your pp. You are given a mouthful of guava leaves which you will stuff/munch in your mouth then a bolo (kind of big knife) will chop (not literally chop but rather make a cut) the skin. After that you will spit the guava leaves in your pp for disinfection-esque (lol). Then a makeshift cloth (a square piece of cloth with a hole in the middle) to cover the cut. From my experience the part it hurts is not in the chopping of the skin (surprisingly it doesn't hurt) but rather the inserting of the stick to the skin (this one hurts for me maybe because my pp skin stretched). And the fvck im jealous Indos got something while all I got is a sore pp that i need to clean every afternoon for a week.

@@WestefordVT the process of circumcision in our province is more of traditional way, the one doing the circumcising (the one who cut the skin) is a role that is kinda being passed on (so in a sense its like a craft?). Well its more of a rite thing here, some children who are not confident they go the hospital route.
Edit: In short yeah the ones in charge/doing the circumcision know what they are doing :D

It’s religiously mandated and medically recommended. If you ignore religious belief, you can look up the benefit of doing it.
In the end it’s a custom. I understand if people consider it scary, creepy and dangerous. But the reality is circumcised boy growing up fine. Especially with the technology here is becoming more advanced even from the west.

I thought it is a right of passage for all Muslims men in the world. For many who don't understand, it is just the foreskin, not the PP itself. Jews also do the same thing, but at a much younger age. Also at the same time the Indonesian government strongly discourage the female version (FGM) which is by the way an actual mutilation.
The vast majority of studies ascribes no health benefits to it. The cleanliness angle is also from a time where water and soap weren't readily available. These days the only objective reason to to coerce or force body modifications on people is if they have a legitimate medical condition that requires it - and those are the exception rather than the norm.
And the "tradition" angle is also troublesome. Just because "it was always done this way" doesn't mean it's a good practice. It's a non-argument that avoids addressing the actual point.

Circumcision is genital mutilation and it should be globally illegal to do it to children. Health reasons are extremely rare (even most cases of phimosis do NOT need circumcision to resolve). It’s insane to me how many men on earth are this deeply abused from the start, without having any choice in the matter.
While I agree that the health benefit is miniscule, and children should not be forced to circumcize, I also think your take on this is extreme.
It's only cutting the excess skin from the penis, not mutilating the penis itself. Plus, it was done by doctors who make a professional oath to not do harm onto their patients. If it's indeed a form of abuse, then I believe doctors around the world will go against it.

Got my ears pierced when I was a tiny little kid. In the Philippines if the guys get circumcised when they turn 13, (it's treated kinda like a rite of passage to manhood here) the girls get their ears pierced as babies. I don't even wear earrings coz they itch but I'm glad I didn't have to do thru the whole "omg I want ear piercings" arc.

It's a primitive and unnecessary practice that should be banned on the grounds of basic human rights, but at least in the west they do it when you're a baby. Imagine knowing its coming, dreading it, and being unable to stop it, then having to endure the pain afterwards.
