The tongue thing is what our ancestors did when going to war against other tribes as like saying “I’m hungry!” (Because our people were cannibals back in those days) pretty much it was a form of intimidation

First if all as a NewZealander I thankyou for your respect for our culture. The haka is part of who we are,we are connected to our land and water. I am of Maori descent and I am never more proud then when the AllBlacks do the haka. ❤

The meaning of the Maori Haka:
    I die! I die! I live! I live! I die! I die! I live! I live!
This is the hairy man Who summons the sun and makes it shine
A step upward, another step upward! A step upward, another... the sun shines!

The best one was when South Africa walked forward with Os du Randt since then they changed the rules that you not allowed to move while they doing the haka 😂😂😂

  • @groenrizla2513

They used to do the slit the throat gesture but that was considered to violent and banned as apparently it could be seen as a death threat. I think that's just a ridiculous snowflake excuse but it does emphasise the power behind the Haka.
I like that he mentioned that it is a sign of respect to the opposition. I can just imagine 100 Maori warriors on each side doing the Haka before they went into battle against each other.
Man on man they must've been a formidable enemy and what would rugby be without the 4 Islanders Hakas, I just hope Fiji, Tonga, Samoa become competitive rugby nations against the top tier nations. S Africans love these islanders.

And for the newer one that you reacted to
Kapa o pango haka words in English and Maori
Kapa o pango kia whakawhenua au i ahau!
Let me go back to my first gasp of breath
    Hi aue, hi!
    Ko Aotearoa e ngunguru nei!
It is New Zealand that thunders now
    Au, au, aue ha!
    And it is my time!
    It is my moment!
Ko Kapa o Pango e ngunguru nei!
    The passion ignites!
This defines us as the All Blacks
    Au, au, aue ha!
    And it is my time!
    It is my moment!
    I ahaha!
    The anticipation explodes!
    Ka tu te ihiihi
    Feel the power
    Ka tu te wanawana
    Our dominance rises
Ki runga ki te rangi e tu iho nei, tu iho nei, hi!
    Our supremacy emerges
    To be placed on high
    Ponga ra!
    Silver fern!
    Kapa o Pango, aue hi!
    All Blacks!
    Ponga ra!
