Michelle was also replaced for this reason Kazuya was supposed to be replaced by Jin bc at that time he was dead, but outcry had him come back in 4. Same thing With Law, had a cousin named Forest Law for a few games but outcry had the original come back. King, Armor King, and Kunimitsu were all replaced by either siblings or successors The others you listed are way too damn popular to be replaced lul like who's gonna replace heihachi

Granted popularity can overcome common sense to the continuity of the story the creators had in mind, so they bring back fan favorites I suppose. Also, cousin? You mean Marshall Law's son Forest Law?
Honestly… I think they just wanted Wang in the game and had no one else to pair him with at the time. His connections that are established in later games weren’t really present in the early series, so he couldn’t be paired with Heihachi or Kazuya, after all.
