I was born in 1969, and my fondest memories as a child are from cheering on the 43 with my dad at Rockingham, Martinsville, Charlotte, and Darlington. Long live the Pettys (and Farlows, Lucks, and Moffitts).
It’s funny to me to think that the whole family went with husband/dad to work! And the king drove to the track and back after driving for work! 😂 I got to work a few years with my dad when I became a firefighter before he retired, that was cool but also a little weird.

I want to thank Y'all for doing this series of videos. I enjoy hearing about the early days of racing as it reminds me of my childhood and going to the races on Friday evenings at the now long gone Beltsville speedway. Recording your memory's in such a relaxed setting makes me feel like I am part of the conversation. Thank you again.

I pulled for Fred Lorenzen and David Pearson but I always liked your dad Richard. When his last race happened I was so sad. Your dad is the best.

I never really understood NASCAR until Ambrose drove the #9. Marcus's loyalty to the team told me there was some very special happening there. Since then ive been a Petty fan.

Mad respect for this family. I’ve been a Richard Petty fan my whole life and the more I learn of the integrity of the man and his family, the more honor them. I listened to the story and I couldn’t help thinking about Richard driving to the track, 500 miles around the track, signing autographs THEN driving back home! That’s impressive!

My brother had all the greats in an autograph book and to my dad he didn’t care. He’s 75 now and he was telling me he got your dad’s autograph every race he went to.

I’m really enjoying the shows! I’m curious to see if yall remember the Jake’s Family(Henry, Elizabeth, Cheryl)? They use to live down the road from us, and Cheryl was my high school teacher. Great vid. A question...What did you all do for shelter from the scorching sun during those hot summer race days ? And, i certainly won't even ask about having to use the inadequate "facilities" that were typical at racetracks in that era. Thanks
