    Hi and thanks for your video..lots of really helpful tips. I'm going to use your advice on the check bag. Going to my first marathon in Chicago this weekend. My husband says not to check in a bag since our hotel is very close to the finish line. After watching your video I would really love to have a towel, jacket and dry hat available. So I'll prob do so 😄 thanks again!

    Another great video. I just found your channel, but it looks like you haven't uploaded in a while. I hope you start up again- it's really cool seeing a woman runner talk about woman runner things, instead of listening to JUST men, and having to tweak everything slightly to match.

    Interesting what a girl packs as opposed to a guy. That wasn't meant the way it sounds. I can relate to some form of calming influence, whether tea, meditation, etc. I always get keyed up before a race and I've been racing for 30 years. Two things I would add to your list are some form of topical Lidocane for sore muscles, and something for blisters. Your multi-port USB charger is nice, but for those who don't have one, most flat screen TVs have several. Enjoy!

    Maury, if I could make a suggestion, you might try taking Melatonin 2 nights before the race instead of Ibuprofen PM, no need to take Ibuprofen if no muscle involvement and you are just needing rest. Melatonin works much better and is a natural alternative. God Bless. :-)

    Hey Maury do you always keep same blanket from last marathon you ran? I pack some shorts, pants, 👕 and water with energy gel.

    Hi, just found your Chanel and finding it really helpful as I'm a new runner. My biggest problem is that no matter what I try I get a stitch if I drink whilst running. I was hoping to progress from a 10K to a half marathon and know that water would be essential, any suggestions? Thanks

      @iqabode6959 Před 7 lety +1

      Sparklesky79 The same problem that I was facing and still face, but now I know how to avoid them quickly
      Make sure before you'r race don't drink plenty of water Be sure to drink for example before the race an hour or more and when you start the race and the stitch start Try to run slower and ensure that the pain will go and then return to your natural speed Do not worry about it just take it easy and do more exercise and it will go away

    Hi Maury! Thanks for the helpful video. Do you stuff your Gu gels in your belt while you run too?? Seems like a small pouch on the belt. Let me know please :-)

    • @myheartraces6083
      @myheartraces6083 Před 8 lety

      Yes, she's right! That little pouch can stretch a ton! This video post will go live in the morning and there is a link for the SPI belt in it. It's a great purchase. I'll either put my gels in the belt or in the pockets in my shorts. My shorts have one zipper pocket in the back and two hidden in the waistband. Thank you for watching!!

    What was the cornstarch for? Do you drink it?

    Hi Maury! What was that corn starch for? Great video! How do you carry your gels?

    • @myheartraces6083
      @myheartraces6083 Před 8 lety

      It's a starch/carbohydrate so it's like food. I've found that it's much easier on the stomach than food and it's long lasting. This video post will go live in the morning and you can find out more info from the link I provide. I feel a difference when I use it, but be warned: it is quite gritty.

    • @myheartraces6083
      @myheartraces6083 Před 8 lety

      The SPI belt has little elastic loops that can hold gels or my shorts have a few pockets in them (one zipper pocket in the back and two small ones in the waistband) and I can disperse the gels in those.

    What about hydration? Do you carry water or just utilize the race water stops? Thanks.

    • @myheartraces6083
      @myheartraces6083 Před 8 lety +1

      I utilize the race water stops. I believe in racing with as little weight as possible. Thanks for watching!
