- There were so many things I wish people would've told me about Ramstein Air Base as PCSed in. This base is one of the largest US Air Force bases in the world. It's packed with too many things to cover in one single video but I cover all of the major venues around the base.
Within this video I'll show you the ins and outs of the BX, Military Auto Source, RTT Travel, Aquatic Center, Library, Food Court, Auto Annex, Gas Station, and so much more! If you think I missed anything or would like to get more insight on something just comment and I will get back with you!

I remember watching this video while I was preparing to move to Ramstein from the States. 4 years later, I’m typing this from my TLF on RAB, getting ready to PCS back to the States next week. This was the best assignment of my life and rewatching this brought back so many great memories.
Wow. I was there as a child from 1967 to 1970! My dad was stationed there, and man has it changed!! Had fun there as a child….5th,6th and 7th grade. I am now 66.
A lots changed since I was stationed there in 1988.
goonercrew08 Change is definite with everything in life! They continue to build and renovate this old base.
Lane McCall Thanks for the definition of change, I knew that already. I was merely making an observation for others that were stationed there when I was stationed there.
No kidding. I was a teen there 88-91.
I was there 87-91
It's changed a lot since 2014. Dang. I don't recognize much of it anymore
I'd love to visit, seems like a little US theme park right on European soil. We should make that an actual thing. I would be able to visit the US after just a 200-mile drive!
Gtfo here yankee
No you amis are not welcome here
Fun Fact: in 1917 the US Americans shut down German-America and declared its language a war-crime.
What once was a thriving German-America has become a Ghetto since then.
I left Ramstein in 1973...great even back then!
I'm gonna be stationed there, so exited
Awesome man! Congratulations!
Thx
DerpyToes _ 24 hey dude , when are you gonna here here ?
@@GermanEntertaining what do you mean?
DerpyToes _ 24 be here * lol
I lived on base from 1954 to 1957. first and second grade. I used to walk across the street and play in the woods. There was no fence. I used to pick blueberries. The base was very basic then. The Germans we knew were very gracious and friendly.
Most German folk in that area were kind to me as well.
Thank you very much for the video - we are coming over in November and have not been there since 2016 after my husband was deployed there. First time PCSing there. Appreciate all of the information.
Great video!! We are PCSing there in Jan and your video was very helpful. Great job!
You Came in Jan, by March Covid hit BOOM! Damn!! I hope you got to see a few places before it happened
Great job. I will be sure to share this with our inbound members. Thanks!
Glad I could help!
My family was there from 09-12 and so much has changed!
Great Video Lane! Pcsing to Ramstein in May; this was one of the best looks at the base I've seen on youtube!
Joseph Fox For sure! When I PCS'd here I couldn't find anything useful about the base and what it looked like. With me being a filmmaker, I took it upon myself to make a video to help others like you! Glad you enjoyed it.
Lookin to visit my younger bro soon. Thanks for the info man
Thanks Lane for the tour excellent view
Wow looks like the nicest base I’ve ever seen
Going number 1 on my dream sheet
Yup, if you forget the 70 deaths and 1000 injured, that's probably true.
Excellent video! Thank you!
You're welcome!
Loved going to Ramstein during my 7 years at Spang. Miss Germany.
make me think about my American neighbor and friend we drove to the base many times. It was fascinating every time. As a German u feel like ur in the US it’s amazing there. Miss those time
Did you know that there once was a German-America in the USA? The "Americans" purged and removed German-America from its history. Did you ever study the purge of German-America in 1917 under the Wilson Administration? They declared the German language a War-Crime in 1918.
From a historic perspective: America purged German-America and built a littleAmerica in Germany after that.
On paper it looks really strange, history wise.
Now,basically, the German Economy seems to be a official "threat" to the USA according to Trump& Biden as well.
Looking at H.R. 3364 "Adversaries Act",it makes Germany a opponent to the USA and the Pipeline is directly aimed at.
The question still remains to this day:Is the USA a friend to Germany or a Arch-Enemy that occupies Germany.
Great job Lame !!
One of these days I’d like to see some video of the small village I lived in for 4 years...
this was really informative and dope. Good job Lane :-)
Thank you so much 😀😁
Nice to have a look of what's happening inside.
As a german, living close to ramstein, we're not permitted to enter the base without any invitation.
A Schneider Yes I understand. I'm glad you were able to find the video helpful.
Ich war da drinnen sehr oft :) wegen einem bekannten der Amerikaner ist
A Schneider I live near the base and I ride my bike on base and I use my ID and I like going to by bike
@@kaidwinslow3410 how are you able to go inside?

When I was there from 1971 to 1973 you had to leave the base to find any American fast food joints. I had a place that I rented in Mackenbach and commuted daily. If I took my bike to work I could sneak through the woods south of town and go through the fence at the north edge of the golf course and cut a bunch of time off my ride. My formal barracks was just across the street from the theater on the south side.
The BX only carried food as a grocery store and clothing. No sporting goods. You had to go into K'Town to find a bike shop. Pretty much had to go to the Alps to find a ski shop. I had some really great times back then. I even got a TDY to Berchesgarten and Chimsee
your comment about your barracks being across the street from the theatre rang a bell. My barracks also was across the street. I was in the security police squadron. Were you also? I was there 1965 to 1968
Wow. They have it so nice now! Still wouldn't trade my time there for the world, though ('94 - '98)! Btw, they traded that fence hole for you Machenbachers to one behind the H.S. for you Miesenbachers. That was around 1998, though. Wonder what other patches happened since or if the CIA eventually got involved lol.
Been there. Purely civilian. I love y’all. Thank you for serving
We were stationed at Ramstein from 2011-2014. Crazy to see how much it's changed just in the last couple of years. I'm also a 3D1X1 stationed at Buckley AFB right now and we vlog. Subscribed to your channel. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing!
That's awesome to hear! Thanks for watching and subscribing. I plan on pushing out a few more USAF videos this year.
Why is the USA spreading its bases in Germany, instead of closing them down?
Look at the size of Germany and the size of the USA. One day there will only be US Soldiers stationed in Germany.
Thats not cool.
You have great content! I subscribed! :)
EnemyTool Thank you so much!
This is so cool.
I was stationed there in 1984. Great place.
I was there in 1979 wow it has sure changed! Thanks for sharing the video
It's a mall now.
worked here as a contractor the past 2 years on the BITI upgrade project , great place great people
Very informative video! 👍
Mallory Thank you for watching! I'm glad you were able to get some good information from it.
Well done!
Excellent video. A lot has changed since I was stationed there in 1988
Was there 79-82. Passed through a few times. Miss the old days
A lot has changed since I was stationed there in 1965
If I had a nickel for every comment that says, "A lot has changed since I was stationed there in 19XX" I'd be a rich man!!! hahaha!
you will be there one day!@@CompoundGovernance
I live near Ramstein and I'm often at the fence and watching the planes. Awesome base!
This is excellent.
OMG I was at Ramstein from 1987-1991 and we were so happy when we got a Burger King! This is wonderful how much is available to service members now.
5:20 haha, I love how unknown Swarovsky seems to be in the US. Thanks for the tour
lived there when i was a kid from around 97 till 2002 i think. it was the nices place to live. even as a german. sadly i had to go to a german school outside the base so i didnt had many contact with other kids around. but still... best place !
We are currently Stationed in South Korea, can’t wait to leave here!
Why
i live here it is amazing..my fav place in ramstein is the Bx
Thanks so much Lane. Our son will be deployed this spring to Ramstein so we will be making trips over there. This video was very helpful :)
Oh that is wonderful! Thank you for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed the video :)
Ramstein needs to be closed! There is no need for you anymore! Soviet union has collapsed. The USA is the biggest thread to world peace nowadays.

@@LaneMcCall it was perfect!
Thanks so much for posting this info on the base. I have a loved one stationed there and she's surprised I know so much about the base, thanks. If I ever had the chance to make it over there to see her I would know things about the base and even maybe land a job at the BX or one of the shops there. Or the commesary. Again I'll keep looking for your videos. 👍💯
perfect i love this video thank you.
Me and my lived here for 5 years. I remember most of this stuff however that added a lot of stuff too. This was from 98-03 I lived behind Donaly park
Good to know I'm not the only one still called them the BX and Shopette.
Wow lived there 83 ta 94. Crazy. I would still know where everything's at. The scenery has changed but the land nav never will.
Bro that’s a god damn sweet 86 💙
Thank you!!!
Good stuff!
Awesome vid bro!!!
DJ CUTTY tha CREATOR Thanks brother!!!
Fo Sho! We are on our way in August so you helped us big time! You know how far K-Town is from Ramstein?
DJ CUTTY tha CREATOR Sweet! That is the exact reason why I made this video. There aren't any quality videos about the base so I decided to make one haha! But yeah Kaiserslautern is only 10-15 minutes out!
Beautiful!!! Well Brother I owe you a drink Bro!
The Ramstein Rusty Roosters - some things never change!
Fantastic video! Thank you so much for making it and being so thorough. It's been very helpful in deciding if we're going to apply to go.
used to live in Ramstein, but moved to Canada in 2009 when i was only like 5.
really cool to look inside the airbase!
very interesting you did a good job
Thank you!
Bro.....this video is fire!!! #thatShirt
cobra2079 Thank man! That Adidas jacket is a collectors item they only made in Europe for a limited time! I adore it haha.
flew into ramstein back in the 80s from dover ab. it really is a big air base. usafe headquarters in the 80s. took a shuttle bus to weisbaden medical center .
We used to have to take pizza orders from the guys in the dorm, then drive to the Frankfurt Pizza Hut, do a turn and burn drive back to base and of course make a small profit!!!!!
Awesome!
Good job Lane! Ramstein app... didn't know that. Bokoo... didn't know that... Facebook, great tip. Just a thought... would a video of 'tips around Ramstein' or 'tips around Germany' make sense? You gotta knack for making vids.
Thank you very much and I'm glad my video was helpful! I'm certainly looking forward to making more videos about Germany/Ramstein once my other projects complete!
Looks so cool, its basically like a small village , right now theres gonna be built another one just like that in Romania next to the MK Air Base and 10.000 soldiers are expected which is gonna double the village's population
Lord Starkiller And triple the economy!
We didn't have that Food Court in 1986!! Wow! You guys are spoiled now!!!!!
Clifford Kinnear the food court was around in 98 too
Lol the only reason I am here because me and my bff used to live in Germany and we had sleepovers at her apartment here😁
2:52 on that photo on the right - Ulica Grodzka, looks like the one in Kraków, Poland
My very first AF duty station. What a difference 40 years makes! I was there from '81-'83, and thought it was big THEN! The only thing I recognize now are the trees.
Cooles Video 😎👍🇩🇪
I actually lived here since I was a baby and I'm in middle school now still on this luxury base😀
Do you sometimes feel like you live in a theme park? lol . How much do you see from germany outside the base?
Joshua Walker Bro what’s your name, maybe I know you, I’m Nicholas Murphy😂😂
Watching this video because I'm being nostalgic !
That's alright!
I WAS STATIONED AT ZWEIBRUCKEN BACK IN THE 70S WOW RAMSTEIN SURE DIDN'T LOOK LIKE THAT WHAT A DIFFERENCE 50 YEARS MAKES
I was at Ramstein from 1984 - 1987. I went back in 2000 for a visit.
We were there at the same time. I was there from 84 to 86 while in the Army, and our barracks was across the street from the bowling alley.
I was there from December 84 to December 86 in the supply/pol barracks right around the corner from yours, near the nco club
my barracks was right next to yours, if I remember right you guys were air defense. @@studythechurch
This really sent me down memory lane. Mainly because I was there at this exact time. So I’m seeing everything how it was when I last saw it. Miss it that place.
Was stationed there from '89-'91 when the wall came down. It was a luxury base back then but is 10X more stacked with amenities and conveniences now. I worked under Air Force Communications Command. Gen. Dugan was CINC when I got there. Met him once, didn't think much of him though. I thought he was out of shape and undisciplined for a four-star. He left after a year to join the Joint Chiefs of Staff and subsequently got canned and forced to retire for talking out of class about strategies for the upcoming Gulf War. Gen. Robert Oaks took over the CINC job at Rammstein. A big-time Mormon but a good squared away leader. I remember me and another airman went to his base residence to pmi his KY-3. Nice digs and a cute teenage daughter to boot, lol. Had many good times in Germany. Took 30 days vacation and traveled Europe extensively. Miss that base. If you're going into the AF you'll want to put this base at #1 on your dreamsheet...trust.
I was stationed there fro 1989 to 1992. I was in the 512th fighter squadron when we got deployed to Turkey for Desert Storm and I do remember when the wall came down Great memories at Ramstein. Best time of my life.
@@tamigarrett3513 Your name sounds oddly familiar. Can't quite place it...perhaps I went to school with a girl that name or maybe I met you there at Ramstein. What was your afsc?

Dude...great job. I was stationed at Ramstein, aka, Lil America back when I was there (98-03) and remember being briefed about the future plans. Wow...the place looks completely different! I didn’t recognize one walk-through.
I was stationed at Rammstein Air Base
West Germany
1983-84
1964 Comm Group
I lived in the town of
Mackenbach,
Some of the best years of my life…
My mom was stationed at landstuhl from '00 to '04 so I was there 1st through 4th grade. I remember Germany vividly and it has been my favorite duty station we've ever been too! Ramstein has certainly changed and I heard Vogelweh isn't what it used to be anymore. Anywhoo thank you for the nostalgia!!
With those electricity plug adaptors, one must remember the voltage difference, where the voltage in Germany is about twice that of the USA (that is unless it's also 110 V at Ramstein).
Man that place has changed a lot in 15 years
Bobby Britton I'm sure it has!
I met someone while playing rainbow six siege on ps4 that was stationed there, now he is stationed in Alaska
I know a dude who played that and PCS'd to Alaska about 5 months ago 🤔
Lane McCall is he called kyle? Btw he wasnt a pilot
@@supremebonkripper7460 No and less than 98% of Air Force members are pilots btw.
stationed there 1990-92, looks different now!!
really for me as a german it looks like a little US city
A lot has changed since the 90s. I mean we only had BK, Popeyes, and Donor Kebab. The theater was an old auditorium by the flight line, and you had to buy everything on Amazon. Cause the BX didn't have it. I remember when the Taco Bell finally opened. People lined up for Klicks.
in the 80s nothing was there, it had little snack stand by the NCO club that sold German sausages and burgers and the snack bar at the bowling alley.
I guess this is accessible to only nato personnel?
Nice video! I would have loved to learn something about the surrounding village as well.
Man this video helps so much!! Our son is headed there now! I can’t wait for him to take full advantage! Thank you again!
Any questions let me know I'm currently living on base here.
That's awesome!!!
For me as a German IT is a plesure that i m able to enter cause im half American 😅
My dad used to work there as an NCO
I was there 94-97. A lot has changed especially around the MAC ramp.
I was there 85-87 do not recognize anything, had F4s and F16s hear they are all gone and just cargo aircraft there now. I enjoyed it very much!
@@KeithHouchens c130’s. Shouod of seen try parking them out at the outer areas. Lol
Ramstein AB Alum 83-85: WOW! Nice Job, Lane. What does NCO Club look like now? German Kantine still there? Jager schnitzel mit salat und fries - way better than Taco Bell. Adjacent villages and Kaiserslautern awesome not too mention getting to know folks off base and speaking German.
Damn ramstein is like another fort hood
Not even close..
like the Video! wish you would have taken some moments to show the Arts & Craft Center from the inside. :-)
I'm sorry! Unfortunately they were closed for about a month but it's pretty standard looking on the inside. There are classes you can sign up for too!!!
Good Job Lane! The place sure has changed since 1980!
Reloader 83 Yes it has! I've seen pictures from the base around that timeframe! Majority of the buildings are still standing and in use though haha!
Another uneducated outsider that does not realize Germans work and live on base, and love it haha.
Unbelievable, look more like the mall of America than a military base, would love to have seen some pictures of the barracks and areas around the flightline. So many places to spend the little bit of money we get twice a month!!😂😂 So much for the ol 86th.😂 WOW!!! RAB "76-78" Good times / Good people!!! 🇺🇸✈✈ (POL) #AIMHIGH
i recommend just making friends on intsa or reddit or whatever n just chill out with locals for a beer, dinner n another beer. if any of u bros wonna chill, i live in the north of the netherlands, but i got a couch for u n we love to party hard here.
PS: its like 5 hours by train to come to where i live in NL (a totally diff country)
That had me thinking about how it was when I as a kid went to the Russian base to get some supplies. What a contrast! Military occupation never looked more attractive.
This video makes me so sad because I wish I could move back here but I never can or probably will I lived here for 4 years and I had so many friends but now i live in colorado and i dont like it that much because it's just not the same as germany I even remembered how to get to every single spot that you showed in the video I always lived in an apartment and I always thought it sucked that it was so small but now that I live in an actual house I dont like it as much as the apartment I guess it's good I can atleast still see what it was like to be there and I'm glad I got to move there
As a cold war vet we were always jealous of the Air force barracks and life style in Germany always much better then Army barracks even back then
My brother lives in Ramstein misenbach he moved there for the Air Force base. His wife will be joining him in a few weeks.
i was at ramstein in 94-98 the bx was next to the commissary. i heard they closed vogelweh px
They did.
Boy, that sure is different than when I was stationed there. Of course, that was 1973-74. Lol.
