    Due to some copyright issues, we had to remake our M-346 Master video.
    What are the factors behind the success of the M-346 in the international market?
    Why did Italy and Russia work together for a new jet trainer and break up later?
    Which features make the M-346 a superior jet trainer and light attack aircraft?
    Are the M-346 Master, T-7 Red Hawk and T-50 Golden Eagle real competitors?

    Welcome to our channel. All the weapon systems are like books. They tell us their stories. The Weapon Detective investigates these books, reads between the lines, analyses, and tells the untold. At the dawn of the Second Cold War, the fruits of new projects give us clues about the future. But current weapon systems also have their own stories. You can find in our videos technical information, historical backgrounds, what happened during the development processes, combat experience and political projection. Let's investigate the weapons together when the Second Cold War is rising.

      Truth is Italy sources many components across Europe from many vendors , some of these companies are affiliated with Chinese and they source from china. Italian lobby is the one which is bringing bad names , they actively engage with military leaders , fund their trips and kick backs are the reason. Italians are master engineers and technicians , even the usa is sourcing f35 parts and acknowledged some inconsistencies in the supply chain , Chinese are notorious for supplying Ill equipment once in a while

    Around 2013 in Poland was a competition for a new advanced jest trainer. Among others, Korean T50 (my favorite) and M346 were considered. Won M346, and currently as Bielik replaced TS-11 Iskra. But this year MoD announced a purchase of Korean FA-50 (a stepbrother of T50), and finalized it. So now we have two types instead of one. Very smart indeed.

      Costs of flying and manteinance are important factors, as flighter rated engines, especially when you don't have equivalent engines already in service, can easily dent the budget in a few years to the point of unsustainability. When you cannot afford to make your pilots fly enough, because of budget constraints you know you F* Up.
      Another factor is "Training capabilities", not an easy task for countries like Poland which keep changing first line fighters through upgrades, loans, new purchases and changes of doctrine.
      Good luck throwing a green pilot inside an F50 ad let it fly.
      The M346 can easily do that, as it's a comprehensive training system that can simulate any fighter behaviour through a software update in a few hours.
      The plane will behave in flight exactly as a Mig 29, an F18, a Mirage2K, a Typhoon, a Rafale, an F16, or whatever you want. The F50 cannot, to the same extent, as it was developed as a light support for the main Korean fighter line and only secondarily as an advanced Trainer. This is why it was bought mainly as a budget fighter from costumers around the world, and with training as a secondary role.
      It is closer to an AMX, or a T38/F5A, then to a proper advanced trainer: supersonic flight is rather pointless to train in modern jets anyway, as you can do it in any twin seats fighter, when needed.

      @@ionpopescu3969 Poland ordered only 16 aircraft (in two batches), so no production was moved to Poland. The Air Force was not pleased with this aircraft: there was a problem with the software (it has to be updated in order to allow the use of some armament). Also, the level of readiness was below expectations. And, probably for these reasons, AF ordered FA50 unfortunately without a tender procedure.

      The F/A-50 was purchased by Polish Airforce not for training of new pilots, but to replace acient Su-22M3 and M4's in ground attack roles/air policing. Also M346 had a lot of issues in Polish service (issues with electronics, problems with electronic systems that were supposed to simulate weapons, and also very low readiness level). Also Leonardo corporation was entangled in some murky business/ bribery in Poland in regards to other purchases made by Polish MoD...

    I read who many fanboys make comparison between the FA version of M-346 and the FA-50, but despite similarities (both derive from advanced training aircraft) the strengths of the two are different, things are much more complex than "one it's supersonics, the other transonic" (reading the comments it seems to read some football-fans); it all depends on what type of air force the country has and its intended use.
    There are points in one direction (ergonomics, thrust etc) and points in another (avionics system, upgradeability etc); again, everything depends on the needs of that particular air force (of course, and by POLITICS, this applies to any weapon/aircraft/ship etc).

    Ireland Parliament recommended FA50 Block20 not M346…. That is factually incorrect in the video.
    They considered Jas39NG, M346A and FA50 Block20 and cost analysis showed FA50 would fulfil 90% of mission requirement at 50-60% cost of Jas39. M346 was 80% of requirement and 80% of Jas39 cost coming the last spot overall.

  • @fgtrhwu2
    @fgtrhwu2 Před 9 měsíci +3

    I guess the Russians wanted a more combat focused trainer that can also be used as a light combat jet during the initial part of the partnership but Italy just wanted a trainer. I do wonder why the FA variant of the M346 choose to give up 2 hardpoints compared to the Yak-130 since they also wanted a more combat focused variant this time. Recently M346 FA lost to the FA-50 when it came to the tender for Light Combat Aircraft/Trainer for the Malaysian Air Force

    • @Leptospirosi
      @Leptospirosi Před 9 měsíci +5

      With the M346 Master you are not "just" buying an "advanced trainer", as the Yak 130, but an integrated "training system", where flight simulators and advanced softwares come integrated in the package. If you just need a low cost trainer, the M345 will easily do that. It is not, like the F50, a "Poor Man's Fighter" (not derogatory, here), intended to supplement a limited number of main line fighters in low intensity conflict. Unlike the Yak, It Is a higly sophsticated Flying computer, which makes the platform whatever you want it to be, like the "Zelig" of airplanes.
      You buy an M346 because you have a lot of main line fighters, often several types, which need pilots to be trained specifically. There is a reason why so many first world nations are sending their pilots to the "International Flight Training School" in Sardinia. Germany, Qatar, Japan, among others, prefer to train their pilots abroad.
      The M346 can simulate, by software, the flight behaviour of amy different types of advanced jet, including weapons systems and Emergency procedures, so that pilots can train through flight simulation on land and in the air before shifting to the real fighter they are trained to fly.
      The M346 Is very safe, with twin, low consumption engines, while remaining a very nimble and powerfull trainer, which does not dent a military budget, when It comes to cost per flight hour and service.

Yes on the start of the service Pilots were thrilled to finally get a modern Jet trainer, as opposed to 1960 vintage TS-11's... But later multiple issues with electronics had surfaced. there were also problems with the electronic systems designed to simulate weapons. Also the readiness level was very low... I took couple of years for Leonardo to fix those issues....
