Carmella, I love your videos. The information is wonderful - the wide range of topics and full explanations. You are a great teacher. But most of all I love your attitude; you are so humble and gracious. You give us the total story - when things go well and when they don't.
Good morning and hello from Oklahoma! Your videos are both educational and fun, and so helpful. Bella is so cute đ! Thank you for helping us! đđŽđ
You said she was your horse when you were younger. How old were you when you 1st got her? I'm guessing she brings back good memories from your youth. Not that you're old now. To me, you are a "youngin'." That's southern slang for "young one." I'm old enough to be your mom, hence the terminology. Hope you get to enjoy sweet Bella for a while. I LOVE the riding in halter, kudos to your mom for that! My rocky mtn. mare is forward, & I am not skilled enough rider to give her free rein. I'd fly off as she flew like the wind. Fun to watch you work with Bella.
One thing, when she did that tiny buck, you want to keep her cantering to show her that she still has to work even if she kicks, if not corrected she will most likely repeat the behavior.
Question for any riders out there - When using leg pressure to turn, do you use the outside leg or inside leg? I have officially heard both from two different trainers and I'm SO confused. help!
When you want the horse to bend outward or really just widen more, itâs inside. Letâs say youâre turning left. You use left reign and right let you turn left tighter. But if you just wanted the horse to get wider in a circle or something, you use left. Hope that made any sense lol
@@catetemple311 that made sense thank you! Honestly that's what I thought. I was very confused and surprised when the latest person said to use the inside leg.
Aww â€â€â€ love your channel! Your two ponies are adorable! Can I have a pin? Bella is sooo cute! Do u ever regret not keeping her? Sheâs got such short trot strides it reminds me of a pony I ride called Elliot. Itâs amazing how good she is in just a head collar! She looks like a pony with a bit in! How old is she now? â€â€â€
When riding her, you saw how she yanked her head down a bit at the center, when my horse does that, I would yell, âHEYâ and my horse would stop, because he got In the habit of that
Omgosh- itâs SO fun (And educational!) watching you work through the real challenges of tweaking a horse who has gotten a bit lazy, or not currently being worked in the way you originally trained her. (Hope I said that correctly)
Unsure if you'll see this but I was wondering how to get the horse to yield to the leg and move laterally? I've been having issues with my boy cutting sharply on turns and taking off instead of pushing out when I apply the inside leg on circles
@Ocean Breeze To be fair, youâre not supposed to learn back in western either if thatâs what youâre referring to. Move with the horse, same foot placement, etc. leaning back is just not good for a horse in any saddle or without- if thatâs what you were referring to of course
@Ocean Breeze Iâm having a brain fart at this exact moment so excuse me if I understood your recent comment wrong: do you mean âlean backâ as in actually leaning back? Because I have never leaned back- except when I started making a bad habit of it and worked to correct it. Leaning back can be terrible on a horseâs back, and it isnât a proper seat since it means your feet are going forward and pushing you in. So for the purpose of conversation- could you please elaborate for me on what you mean by âleaning back?â If you mean physically leaning back in the saddle, to where you sit in the cantle any or just have your back going past the cantle, or if you mean something else like moving with the horse? Or sitting âbackâ/ deeper in the saddle to stop? Idk I just need to understand exactly what it is because we both seem confused here and cannot have a conversation that way lol
Bella is beautiful but i have a request for advice so my teacher is teaching me cantoring and im not doing so well but its fun to ride the horse i ride he is young but strong and his name is lucky and he was given birth to the day i started riding
Because horses lead with their shoulders, and so dropping the inside one means they are âleadingâ with their outside, rather than their inside, and they become unbalanced. Obviously thereâs more than that, but I just simplified it. You always want the horse on the correct lead (or diagonal I think) and balanced no matter what you are doing.
Bella is so beautiful and that kitten at the beginning had the cutest feet!
U a feet personđ
Kitten?
Gorgeous mare. My advice is that you keep riding her once in a month or so to keep her in a well muscled condition and consistent gait .
Your husband is so thoughtful. Love the gift ideas he bought for you and the horses.đ€
Respect for not putting a bridle over the halter
Bella is beautiful. She definitely looks like a fun horse to even just hang out with. Beautiful movements too.

A bitless bridle would've functioned much better than that loose halter for sure lol â€

Good times. My face hurts from smiling. Thanks!

@@Ocean_Equestrain no you have to sqeeze but i don't know what else and have long enough reigns
@@catetemple311 the first horse i cantered on in western i had to lay back or she would walk backwards

I dont understand, what is the problem (with drop shoulder and all), for me it seems like you are just riding in a circle.
