- The Circuit of Ireland’s star was beginning to fade somewhat my the early ‘90s but it was still seen by many as the one to win and with no Irish driver having won the event since 1984, the local heroes were out in force to try and take the win. They had no answer however for a young Scot called Colin McRae, who in first full season with Subaru was finally beginning to deliver on the big stage. McRae would go on to win by almost 5 minutes and just 4 years later he would be crowned the youngest ever World Rally Champion.
This was brilliant. Thanks for the upload.👍👍👍
Mad to think McRae would be World Champion 4 years later
Didn't the original broadcast have the Cat Stevens song " Father and Son " playing over the picture of Jimmy and Colin at the end.
We watched back this VHS recording years later after Colins death and it stood the hairs on my neck when that clip came on.
RIP Colin
Colin McRae, sideways even on dry asphalt
This video only highlights how bad rallying became after group a, these cars were cars that really did look like something available in your local showroom and look at the crowds spectating
Brilliant thankyou for this upload
Poor Austin very unlucky he was goin so well to.
They day bertie realised the cosworth was no match for the subaru
Imagine not being able to go to the rally because you got caught speeding by the feds
That's the RUC all over. Awkward!
If fisher had the same subaru as Colin he would of won i wrecken.
No doubt! "Old age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill."
