    In this video I'll use the new BougeRV CIGS Solar Panel to charge the 1,100Wh Portable Power Station. I'm new to solar, how does this compare to Monocrystalline panels?

    Be careful, the solar rabbit hole is deep! I’ve been pretty happy with my Jackery 500, and our smaller one BUT I’d like to run enough batteries to run the AC in the Rangerunner if we ever had to sleep at a Cracker Barrel or something.

      @iamcraiggentry  Před 2 lety +1

      That's exactly what I'm thinking! Any idea how much battery would be needed?

      @rockesark9689 Před 2 lety +1

      @@iamcraiggentry I tested my AC on Low Cool and it was about 400 watts. So if you wanted to run the AC for say 6 hours, you'd need about 2400 watt hours. Then you might have a hard time charging back up with only 200 watts of solar. With 200 watts (if you could get that constantly) it would take 12 good hours of sun to charge that 2400 watts back up again.

    Looks like a really nice piece of equipment to have. Looks like you've got room on that camper for at least two of those panels.

      Yeah but I have a roof top tent I want to put up there sometimes. I wish it was shorter so I could mount it across the front.

      Could u add like them magnet strips beside the adhesive on the inner part of the backside of the solar panels? Would stick on metal pretty good I. Would think

    We own a Runaway Rouser with a roof rack. My initial concern with mounting this type of flexible panel directly to the roof under the roof rack would be that the rack is already obstructing the panel from the roof rack bars thus denigrating the optimal production from the panel even before adding other shade from trees or other obstacles into the equation. We are about to purchase BougeRV 200W 9BB panels to mount directly to the roof rack. This product probably has a market for folks with its portability but with a roof rack in place I'd prefer to install on top of the rack not under it.

      I agree. I told them they should change up the dimensions so we could mount it sideways. Hopefully they do.

    Really informative video, thanks. The CIGS panel looked like it was doing pretty well for a soft panel. I would definitely use the controller with a LifePo4 battery to have that extra power on reserve for a rainy day (no clouds). Rather then buying an inverter to use with the battery, I just use the 12v to charge my power bank.

    Did you ever get it up to 200 watts with the panel? Our camper has a battery and is set up to plug in a solar panel but we don't have one, yet. So far, we have been staying at campgrounds with electricity but we do like the idea of getting off the beaten path a bit more in the months to come.

      There's no way for a solar panel to collect 100% of the sun as the sun isn't able to direct all of its rays evenly. The best you can get is around 80-90% on a completely sunny day with the panel directed to face the sun.
