Yes - modern Catholic hymns are the bottom of the barrel - Boots and Saddle garbage. This is incomparable - totally different from the glories of Renaissance and Baroque Western music sacred music of Bach, Palestrina, Gabriel, etc, but equally moving and beautiful.
It is, everyday, in Slavonic Orthodox Churches and monestaries. The Greek Orthodox, Syriac, Antiochian, Armenian, and Coptic, as well as the Orthodox Churches in America, sound a bit different, but just as beautiful, and every single day, at least once.
@@barbaratrehy4742 Don't get me started. The church that gave us music like Palestrina's now has dumbed it down in the name of 'accessibility'. what a precious faith we have with other worldly music. Talk about the Gift of talent in the realm of music.. A true gift from God. I can only imagine how much longer the services would be if all prayers were sung like this.. but it be worth every minute :)
How can you be afraid of anything if you open your soul to this divine music?
Makes me feel like I'm in Heaven!
Veliko srce prime sve vere... Nisam pravoslavne vere a mnogo volim Rahmanjinova... I dobru muziku...
Jesus, only Jesus! He’s alive!🙏✝️
Just listen to the bass. Hits the low B with confidence. What a powerful, formidable sound.
"Благослови, душе моя, Господа и вся внутренняя моя Имя Святое Его..." (псалом 102 царя Давида)"Для него необходимым и достаточным доказательством существования Бога была Музыка" (Курт Воннегут)
The Lord of Lords be with you all..And Peace on earth ...to all Men...
It's interesting that you say you don't believe in God but your last sentence was your soul's prayer...to God. May your soul find peace in God. May you know Him as your savior and Lord.
Thank you God for your many voices.
I love the way you articulate ..God's many voices.
No matter what religion you can hear the voice of god through this music
Beautiful moving praise for Our Lord🙏🙏
im crying right now and i am not ashamed
i went looking for the lyrics translation, think this is it:
BLESS THE LORD, O MY SOUL, blessed art thou, O Lord.
O Lord my God, thou art very great.
Thou art clothed with honour and majesty.
Blessed art thou, O Lord.
The waters stand upon the mountains.
Marvellous are thy works, O Lord.
In wisdom hast thou made all things.
Glory to thee, O Lord, who hast created all.
¡Brillante interpretación de genial S. Rachmaninov! Bravo, gracias!

Amen! Hallowed be our savior, King of kings, Lord of lord's, Jesus Crhrist!!
The most beautiful sounds I have ever heard. Wish more modern church music was like this
Yes - modern Catholic hymns are the bottom of the barrel - Boots and Saddle garbage.
In American evangelical churches we get irreverent rock bands...
@@barbaratrehy4742 Don't get me started. The church that gave us music like Palestrina's now has dumbed it down in the name of 'accessibility'. This is exactly backwards - for many people, the one spot of beauty in the week was the language and music of the church service. It's not meant to be 'accessible' it's meant to be something to be a little outside of the day to day experience.
@@ianboard544 Yes! I am Eastern Orthodox. If a baseball fan were to go to a cricket match and say that he didn't understand that game and so it should become like baseball, the cricket fans and players would regard this as very selfish. What goes on in a church ought to be different from what goes on outside a church. The outside world should be influenced by the Church. The Church should not resemble the world.
My heart wept as a child when I saw the Movie.....and to this day I am saddened.....Although I never knew you my soul did......Bless you Beloved Tsar Nicholas Alexandria and your dear children in Jesus I pray Amen
What can be better than Truth & Beauty... together, in unity, Praising the One Triune God? Peace & Blessings to All, esp my Orthodox Brothers & Sisters.
Oh, how beautiful!!! How nice!!! Smiles!!! Praise God!!!
How beautiful men can be when they allow their spirits to worship God
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner!
Yep too true!
As a metaphor for human condition:
Your Soul reaches to the gates of hell, and these are always open. Those who realise this, irrespective of their believe status, look to their purest emotion, the sliver of innocence for hope, protection and salvation from darkness...
UNKNOWN
There is salvation in only one, Jesus, the Christ, the Son of the living God. Who takes away the sins of the world.
Wow Great Comment.
A beautiful picture of a mother that knows her child is destined to leave her and fulfill great things, notice how her hand isn't embracing him but very loosely.. as to say she won't get too close, and the baby jesus is reaching for her embrace yet she knows that one day she will loose him... Just a black man's interpretation ....
+Bobby McCray
Our Lady of Vladimir is the name of this much loved 12th century icon. It was painted in Constantinople and sent to Russia. Today it is located in the Tretiykov Gallery, Moscow.
+Mary Wilbur thank you for the info. as a glasspainter a copied this picture many times without knowing the Original name. I copied it on glass, stainedglass windows; during painting I very often was listening to this music by Rachmaninov
As an aside, an icon is not a "picture." It is a visual representation of the Heavenly Kingdom :)
Bobby McCray they both know his Destiny so she is sad, but he as he is love by nature as a baby hugs her with love to relieve her Pain also showing that family os the most important, love nevera dies. He as a God won't die only fusycally, i think there is something more its like they feel our Pain, the wars and how unfair os the world. There are Angels also sad, becouse they kniw the suffering of this world. This is the Mother of Russia too. Particularly this Icon represent Mary as protector of Russia as Russia is a womán too so many people idntify Saint Mary as a protector of Russia and thin chant also
Thank You, Maestro Rachmaninoff, and then to the one who posted this wonderful music...Thank You!...
Thank You, Delphi333 and Happy Holidays....
This is the best rendition of this piece I've ever heard. The soloist is superb, and, of course, the choral support is incredible. Thanks be to Almighty God.
So majestic, so beautiful
Volim te Bože moj. Slava tebje sada i uvek i u vek i vjekov.Amin 💗💗💓❤💒📿🙏
I wish I could speak this infinitely beautiful language. I live in Texas, so I have to use this pig grunt language called English. Zhivela Srbija zauvek i svako dobro zheli.
Simplesmente belíssimo perfeito
i love the orthodox church & i'm a protestant saying this
May your love spur your growth and bear fruit.
Spasibo! ☦️☦️☦️
I am too. But God is God and his Church his Church whatever label we put on it.
@@marketreviews74, Christ didn't die and resurrect for ambiguous philosophical theses. There is only one Lord, one faith and one baptism.
It magnifies God! Amen thank you Jesus
