- SCP 096 is a Euclid Class anomaly also known as The Shy Guy.
SCP-096 is a humanoid creature measuring approximately 2.38 meters in height. Subject shows very little muscle mass, with preliminary analysis of body mass suggesting mild malnutrition.
SCP096 is normally extremely docile, with pressure sensors inside its cell indicating it spends most of the day pacing by the eastern wall. However, when someone views SCP-096's face, whether it be directly, via video recording, or even a photograph, it will enter a stage of considerable emotional distress. SCP096 will cover its face with its hands and begin screaming, crying, and babbling incoherently. Approximately one (1) to two (2) minutes after the first viewing, SCP-096 will begin running to the person who viewed its face.

Everyone talking about how SCP-096 can dimension hop, but no one finding it more interesting that SCP-507's dimension hopping might trigger automatically in response to life threatening conditions. I think that would explain a lot about why he never gets hopped to a place incapable of survival, like places made entirely of acid, and why he never gets seriously injured during any of his travels.

That does seem to be true. In his story he hopped just before kissing that woman in the dimension he loved so much.. so I have to imagine that's... not good.
Although the other 507 was implied to be either killed or harmed in the prime universe, so either it's not true or that only applies to 507 prime

I dont think that would be a possibility, because if that's true, doesn't that mean if someone looks at its face, would all of them across the dimensions be enraged? Or is it solely triggered when they enter another dimension, which solely doesn't seem to work, and also for the first dimension especially its not explained that, due to seemingly the facility being abandoned, second dimension may be a breach by another scp, which leads leads the possibility of scp 096, and for the third, that may be true too, due to the foundation existing already, but they don't recognize scp 507 or even ask about scp 096, so if we're not accounting for the first dimension, could be true
If Tommy winds up in reality SCP-LD9-431 again having the Shy Guy run into a more docile version of itself could be a real mess. Or the reality on the other side of SCP-6001.

Yeah it's true, but what if 096 never change dimension, but in fact evry time is the 096 of the dimension how chasse Tommy. For exemple the orignial 096 never left is confiment.

Considering his Dimension hopping has a cooldown this would never be. He wouldn't appear and then suddenly be able to pop back out. That also contradicts the quote on quote lore.
I hated the teleporting. I found it MUCH scarier if this thing followed you at normal speed, but always managed to find you no matter where you went. So if you moved to China from the US, 096 would still follow by physical means such as hiding on a plane or boat to get to you. Making it a relentless pursuer by physical limits would make the tension and horror 10000× better

I think if one 096 sees someone all 096 in the multiverse know so if that person enters the reality than 096 of that reality instantly knows and runs to kill them plus this is scp who knows what the fuck can happen i mean theres 173 who kills just with a snap at light speed and o death that kills literally everything in a reality including 682 so I feel like 096 has a link with every single one in existence
Nah that sounds pretty goofy to me, I think he should just be superhuman, not able to dimension hop or jump into space or anything, but still able to jump extremely high, tear apart a grown man easly and tear through metal doors, and run at insane speeds

I liked the story but the idea that 096 teleports is pushing it a little too much, so what if instead the lore went like this: when Tommy teleports after seeing one version of scp 096, it establishes a psychic link with every version of scp 096. Meaning all the scp 096 we saw here are different ones. I think this one is more realistic or as realistic as it gets.

Giving Shy Guy the ability to teleport after it's victims is a bit ridiculous. Every character in a story needs limits to what they can do, otherwise it becomes annoying.
in some story, they were able to kill 096 via 173, iirc he snapped 096 a ton of times, then they were able to cut a part of his back, and shoved a hose that spews out acid, then used a strong af saw to cut its spine, then it died.
This is a different Shy Guy and I agree it is a problem. Personally I would like to see and expansion on reality SCP-LD9-431 or ZUU-519-Q3D.

To be fair, there are a lot of trans-dimensional entrance/exit in the SCP universe. Maybe the shy guy just has a trans-dimensional path finder in his mind for him to find those door to get to the target.

Someone mentioned a psychic link between different versions of shy guy. I'd think this is the more logical explanation to what's happening, it's just that the reluctant dimension hopper mistook it as the same version.

@@Interopsty I can actually explain in detail why it's the same 096 dimension hopping after 507 through realities and debunk the psychic link theory.
So first, the narrative of the story implies much more that 096 is traveling dimensions, the thumbnail has a photo of 096 breaking through a dimension, and it opens up with "A lot of us wish we could travel dimensions." foreshadowing their chase that happens later on. SCP-507 also states "He had no idea the Shy Guy could travel dimensions."
Next, the second time after 507 hops to a new dimension, getting out from all the bodies and notices 096 behind him crying, the narrator states "It's distress at finding itself in a new dimension mirrored Tommy's own." So let's assume this theory is true, if this 096 is from this dimension already, why would it "be distressed at finding itself in a new dimension" if it already came from there? It would already be there, so it wouldn't be a shocker to 096 to see it, further evidencing that 096 is dimension hopping rather than it being a different 096.
Next, after this happens and 507 goes to the next dimension led by a different SCP Foundation, 507 tells the guards "I'm SCP-507, but that number might refer to someone different here!" This is implying from a narrative stand point that this verison of the foundation contains different anomalies than the one in the main reality of the SCP Foundation. This would mean that 507, as well as 096 wouldn't even exist in this dimension prior to these events to begin with, further proving my point. The 096 that appeared and killed the guards couldn't have been a different Shy Guy if he didn't exist in that dimension. He would of had to have traveled there himself.
And lastly the video ends with 096 running after 507, with the narrator saying "It would be much better for their chase to go on" and this scene pretty much implies both 507 and 096 are hopping dimensions in 096's chase.
So yeah the theory can be debunked, as the narrative is much more implying that 096 is actually travelling dimensions, rather than it being different versions of him.
I'm guessing he eventually wound up in an SCP facility where he could quickly take an amnesia pill. That'd explain how Tommy ultimately survives this.

@@RedRobertify i dont rem which vid, but i saw a good point about that somewhere, basically, the scp uses amnestics a lot, fairly liberally, and amnestics would probably have been one of the first things they tried, so if it was possible for you to just forget and be okay, they would make it standard procedure for anyone who saw it to immediately take amnestics, but if that was the procedures, containment breaches really wouldnt happen, which they definitely have. also the fact that shy guy can attack you from single pixels of his face, or single photons of lights reaching your eyes from his face, is proof that it doesnt really matter if you *know* that you saw his face or not, so it likely wouldnt matter if you remember seeing it either

This is overkill. Goes into meme territory this. It was already too much when he can fly through space, but if he can somehow hop dimensions, and even KNOW which one he went to? That takes away the scariness of the character and just makes it a gag character now.

What if, you see 096 face and take amnestic right away?
This wouldn't work seeing 096 can be triggered by a split frame that is too short for your brain to recognize.
This is also why scramble failed.

I mean you can trigger him without even knowing, off of the smallest pixel on a crappy photo. However I don't think there is any decent info about him still being triggered if you lose the info of what you saw in your memory.
Is he triggered by you knowing what he looks like or is he triggered by you seeing what he looks like? It's a neat difference to explore but it's probably ignored cause it would be an easy out story telling wise and would diminish the danger. So we should probably just assume it'll kill you either way.
This feels like scp-096 was traveling dimension but more like he kept triggering off the 096 of that dimension just by the pure fact he knew it’s face already due to the prior dimension.
Depending on if it was an error on the narrator's part or the animator's part, if the curfew really WAS 10am-8pm, then 507 just so happened to hop into a dimension where I can assume When Day Breaks occurred, and the SCP were prepared ahead of time to avoid massive casualties.
It would be awesome if SCP Explained did a crossover episode with The Strain.
I get complaints about 096 teleporting between dimensions being OP and not realistic... but he already breaks reality by surviving and being able to do what he does. He can jump to the moon and survive the depths of the ocean. I'm pretty sure if you put someone into a blackhole he'd break space time and relativity to chase someone into it to kill them. I'm not surprised he'd force himself to hop dimensions somehow. Only unrealistic part is how little time it takes. I'd imagine it'd be at least a few hours or more for the first time before he got used to the practice. 096 and 682 are both SUPER adaptable. 682 adapts to survive, 096 adapts to kill his target no matter what. If someone was intangible and couldn't be touched, 096 would somehow vibrate himself into the frequency that could touch that person or something else.
This make more sense than the people which says that there are more shy guys in differently universes, since scp 096 is a such of unique being like him in our multiverse!
What would happen if DOOMSDAY who is stronger than Superman were to make eye contact with 096?
@@Zurround 096 kills him. Then Doomsday comes back incapable of being killed by 096 again, that's his rule. He can only be killed the same way once. Then 096 would stalemate like he did with 682 from then on. Doomsday and 682 for all the vs matches... probably would get along, at least until they were the only two lifeforms left.
Unfortunately, the community wants the SCPs to be more watered down and "realistic" but... I think they forgot they are dealing with anomalies here. 096 and 682 especially are kind of SCPs meant to be no limits fallacies and will break the laws of physics if they have to in order to achieve what they are designed to do. For 096, that is killing his targets, and for 682, that is surviving everything. Anything that is required to meet those end goals, they will do it.

Another thought; there is an SCP tick that if it bites you, you are erased from memory; no one remembers you ever existed. Is it possible a bite from ACP-1655 could cause the Shy Guy to lose the obsession on a victim?
Id like to keep seeing this. Maybe 096 will surrender after time, as he did vs 173 or 682. Maybe itll grow to be ok with Tommy having seen his face

I don't think the 096 he's coming into contact with is the same one, but each universes own scp096. It's psychic ability can cross dimensions but not its physical body.
If SCP-096 could move across the Multiverse, there would always be a timeline in which you saw his face… which means we all are being hunted 💀

Man, who ever wrote SCP 096 was a genius. There are so many tiny details about him that is absolutely crazy. The team of people that wrote these SCPs are so creative. It’s almost un believable.
rather than following him, its entirely possible that its just whatever that universes equivalent of 096 is tracking him down and chasing him. makes a bit more sense because if hes seen one of their faces, hes seen them all and has a memory of it, so its like constantly looking at a picture.

Personally I believe that SCP-096 could NOT chase after creature changing the universe. There is absolutely no way for the SCP to follow, it has no ability to travel multiverse. Instead what I believe would happen is that the different universe where "Tommy" teleports into has its own SCP-096 which would activate and try to attack him instead. Basically the "rage" of SCP-096 observation would travel to the universe the person who agroed SCP-096 has gone into. So the SCP itself would not move to multiverse madness, but the rage of the being does.

I like to think of it as, if 507 sees any dimension's shy guy's face, then every shy guy he meets in any dimension he hops into will automatically know that 507 has seen 096's face, thus will go after him

Me here sipping coffee knowing Scp-096 can't kill me and I always look at its face.
I think with enough training he could learn to control it, seems like when ever life threatening danger is about to kill him he does it 🤔
Is there anything in the related lore to suggest that SCP-096 is able to hop dimensions? I rather enjoyed the matchup and video, but I had to put it in the -J category. I think it might be useful to use -J to indicate you're not trying to stick strictly to the original ideas, and just having fun memeing.
