- After multiple years of one of my friends insisting I play this game, I finally did. I went in only knowing that it's got cute vibes and is sci-fi, I didn't watch any trailers or even read the about because I was told not to! But oh my gosh what a ride of a game this is.
If you're curious where I'm at: at the time of posting, I have finished the base game but have JUST started the DLC. So talking about base game stuff is completely fine in any of the videos, but I'd appreciate no spoilers on the DLC. :)

Thank you!! I feel like I lucked into this being the first playthrough I did for the channel. I knew a lot of people loved it, and that one of my best friends ADORES it and insisted I’d love it too, but I had no idea how perfect it’d be for the direction of the channel until I was done!*
*I’m done with the base game at this point, waited until I was done with it to edit and post everything.
Skipping the ghost matter tutorial will cause a great deal of pain lol.

Literally 5 minutes ago I watched the ending of another OW let's play. Hit refresh on youtube, and this came up. Yeah, groundhog day indeed 😛
I'm SO happy I waited to post until I finished the base game. At first I thought about sharing before I was done, but after Day 1, I realized it was better to wait so I could avoid spoilers and figure out how to edit the game properly. I was completely lost at the beginning of the game so I had know idea what to keep vs cut!
Outer Wilds Withdrawal Crew Inbound!
If you enjoyed OW, for me the trinity is: Outer Wilds, Return of the Obra Dinn, Tunic.
They're all VERY different, but scratch the same itch when it comes to that dopamine hit of revelation and discovery.
I haven't played Tunic yet, but I would expand that to include Paradise Killer, the Forgotten City and maybe the Sexy Brutale. All different, but under some kind of genre of detective mystery games that you can only really play once, where the closest thing to replaying it is watching someone else play it blind.
I’ll add Subnautica, and maybe Hollow Knight, to complete the penta…nity ?
Oh crap I expected some new games when you began suggesting, only to be disappointed to know I already played all of them. xD
@@narcozero8410 I was so disappointed in Subnautica because people recommended it as being like Outer Wilds. I've grown to really admire it but it's such a shame to have been saddled with that unfair expectation
@@storageheater no game is like Outer Wilds. But Subnautica has this sense of free form exploration and beauty in loneliness.
that opening, and the detail of including facecam in the rewind sequence... I've been meaning to watch this playlist for a while now and it's looking like I won't be disappointed!
Oooh, adding your face cam and gameplay through the whole video to the "resurrection" cutscene is actually an awesome idea for an outro. Well done.

Ah, the classic immediately fly straight into the sun approach. Surprisingly a very common way to start this game. I love what you did with the death animation at the end. It feels so obvious for an edited playthrough of this game but I've only ever seen one person do that before. The intro was really creative too, such a great way to start the video.

I love this game but I found it so frustrating that I had to quit and decide to find a nice gameplay that hopefully explains everything. I got to say, I'm going to watch yours instead of any other gameplay on CZcams just because of that intro. Loved it. Thank you.

SOMA is actually one of my favorite games- I would erase my memories in a heartbeat just to play it again. I think about the "coin flip" concept all. the. time. I'm done with base Outer Wilds at this point (starting the DLC tomorrow, actually!) and I actually felt like these games were really similar in storytelling approach- SOMA is more linear but you don't _really_ understand what happened on PATHOS-2 unless you really take the time to look at what was left behind, similar to the Nomai.

I love environmental storytelling, and Pathos 2 was chock full of it. The decisions that game let you make were so powerful. I spent a long time thinking about what I’d do if I were Simon 3 and what I thought would be less cruel for Simon 2. I’d definitely wipe my memories to play SOMA and OuterWilds for the first time again.

You know, I've been thinking Outer Wilds is the best game to get a let's play channel off the ground with. Only way to "replay" the game; watch someone else play it. And the majority of people watching are just happy to see the ups and downs in the play-through.
Such as the initial takeoff going straight into the sun, that's just so perfect. To be fair, if that long-standing bug of locking target hadn't bit you in the tutorial you might have had a better chance. Flying without auto-pilot the first time though? It was only going to end by crashing into something big.
Your intro and outro though? Brilliant! Hypothesis: This channel is so worth following. I'm not going to even attempt to test the null hypothesis on that one ~💗

Ah, Outer Wilds, one of my two favorite games ever. Really great work on this, especially since it's your first series! If you're looking for recommendations of what to play next, Horizon: Zero Dawn is my other favorite game. It has similar levels of existential crisis, albeit in a more traditional open world game construction. Plus robot dinosaurs.

Mine was similar. I think I was trying to jump between bridges or rocks somewhere on Timber Hearth, because every game (with a jump mechanic) is a platformer if you're brave enough.

You say you died a lot faster than the average player, but YOU didn't step out onto the Attlerock without a space suit. I think most player's first deaths are embarrassing.
I'd be curious to see stats on it, but I'm confident a significant percent manage to die before their first launch.
For my first death I managed to die by launching myself out of the water jet on timberhearth, before even entering the timeloop, giving me credits lmao
