Installing A Raceseng Tow Hook & Shift Knob On The GT4

- Our friends over at Raceseng sent us over some really sweet accessories for the GT4. First up is the tow hook which is pretty straightforward and looks amazing on the front of the GT4. It'll be used for helping load and unload the car onto trailers. Next is the Stratose Alcantara shift knob which replaces the cheap plastic shift knob that comes on the GT4. Install is really straightforward and is a must have for anyone with a manual GT4.

Wow, quite some time ago (I think the s2000) I suggested that you do the shift boot that way (invert it and use a zip tie) and you mocked me. Glad to see you came to your senses. Nice work, clean install.
For those reading this, that is exactly how Raceseng tells you to do it, too.
We’ve been doing it this way since the early 2000s lol.
Matt gave me idea. I did install short shift kit on my 2005 c2. I end up breaking the the turn clip that holds the fabric to shift knob. I can use zip tie plus it's hides anyway.
The shifter knob montage is pure gold.
They are the best properly weighted shift knobs!
Can't wait until the garage is finished!
I added a BFI Knob, very similar to the one in this video, on my B8.5 S4. Huge improvement in the shift quality between the weight of the shifter and the vice grip adapter that really makes the shifter/linkage feel like one solid unit. I regret not doing the mod sooner.
I also installed a Rennline phone mount based on seeing you add it to the GT4 a few months ago. Similar issue to yours, I have an iPhone XR and while it doesn't completely fall off the mount, on bigger bumps the phone will sometimes slide down or go off center.

I have the Rennline phone mount and a MagSafe iPhone 12. Just put a metal plate in there and it will stick well. I put it between the case and the phone
Not sure if it’s on my end, I have a few years old Samsung TV but it only seems like OG videos lag like they’re buffering but the audio continues.
I don’t track my car, but I do trailer it just to drive on a road with turns

I 3D printed a mount for an Apple Magsafe charger for my car and the official one holds like crazy. I also had a couple of third party “Magsafe” car chargers and they were all junk.
I think you can find an adapter for the official one on Amazon.
Matt- you gotta get a magbak for your phone so you can still charge but it holds the phone secure to your magnetic mount in the Porsche
I don't get it, you don't like badges etc on yours cars, but a huge silver/black tow hook that is sticking out and asymmetrical on the front bumper is ok?

Hoooo... Matt disturbed the balance of the... shift knob lever. 😳
Now the the heavier knob will make the lever lean to the sides and grind the gears.
Have to counterbalance it with some weight opposite to the ball joint lever. 🤓

It just feels wrong to take off a genuine Porsche part and replace it with one that comes with a zip tie. It’s like putting ice in wine.

Hi, I am curious which model number you used for the Raceseng tow hook. I emailed them and they said they don't currently have a fitment for a 718 GT4. Thank you
They are still working on it. The one I have doesn't fit. I just test fitted one for them. It should be out soon.

You should get a nylon tow strap if you don’t want to scratch that nice tow hook.

you won't see anything like that in his videos. he likes OEM Plus mods. Even the civic didn't get hids or leds. looks cheap.
