  • Full Shiur: 3nd Annual HoShana Rabah ALL NIGHT TORAH (TeShuva Suggestions & Pitfalls)
    Rabbi Yaron Reuven addresses the issue of race in Judaism, emphasizing that Judaism does not place importance on race or appearance. He encourages individuals to focus on their observance of Torah and not to make a big deal out of their race or color. He also urges people to find new friends
    if those in their current community are making a big deal out of their race. Ultimately, he emphasizes that the Torah does not absolve anyone from problems, but rather provides answers for dealing with them.

    Born in Netanya, Israel, Rabbi Yaron Reuven began his American Dream as a little boy, when his family immigrated to the United States. He went from a newspaper boy at the age of 10, to a well-known self-made Wall Street multimillionaire by the age of 23. During his time in Wall Street, he owned his own private brokerage firm, a hedge fund, and an international insurance agency. He was featured on CNBC, Bloomberg and Chinese NDTV due to his success in the financial industry.
    At age 26 he faced a 7-year battle for his life when a simple surgery went wrong. From that moment his life would never be the same. This moment marked the start of a series of miraculous events and an exciting pursuit of truth, ultimately resulting in Rabbi Reuven renouncing his lofty position and success in Wall Street, after 16 years, to become a full-time KIRUV rabbi. His Teshuva story is sure to catch the heart of every listener.
    Rabbi Reuven’s shiurim are in English and Hebrew. His classes are focused on spreading the truth and divinity of the Torah through MUSSAR, scientific proofs, and many other methods to reach each individual listener. B"H! Thankyou Rabbi. I've had issues with this sickness for a long time. Thankyou for explaining what the Torah says about this. And thankyou for pointing me back in the direction of G-d.

    This video had to be made. The same thing happens in the UK, and it makes me feel uncomfortable in Jewish spaces. B"H that I have never been discouraged from converting because of this feeling because I know it's about Judaism and Torah, not other people's opinions. What I will say that I have felt so much at home in Israel as a person who looks like myself. I have also found some spaces that have been welcoming to me, and do not care about what I look like.

    I think you might have Manishtana wrong on this one; the only reasons he speaks out is to add humour to the encounters he has had with people who can't get their heads around there being black Jews, and to educate people that have these views about black Jews - not to make a big deal about it.
    I don't think he wants special treatment, I think he actually just wants to blend in and have black Jews not be treated any differently in Jewish spaces.

      All Rabbi Yaron said was that there's no need to point this out and who cares if there is a racist person here and there because you can't change everyone's mind and the sin is on the racist. Pointing out one's own race shows that race is at the forefront on one's thought, which is in turn racist and sinful in and of itself.

      @@gregorymiller1021 Erm, there is a point when it's happening to people on a daily basis. The more the issue is raised, the more people will think twice about being racist...It's as simple as that.
      I think it's easy to tell others not to think about it or raise awareness when you yourself are not. And no, it doesn't show that a person is themselves racist for speaking about their own experiences. It just means we can't avoid it when we walk into a Jewish space...Because that would be like telling someone to turn off their skin colour to stop people staring, saying things or making an assumption on the basis of race - that's obviously impossible.
      Take a look at The Mendel Show channel on CZcams. A biracial FFB Jew recounts his experiences of racism, and such experiences were part of the reason he went off the derech. I have heard of other black Jews - converts and FFB - who have gone off the derech due to the racism they experienced. If this doesn't get talked about, then it will continue to happen, and this is not good for the Jewish community.
      Shouldn't be losing Jews, rather we should be retaining them.

      Verbiage over a silly topic. The they you will be treated better is the day when you stop refering as "black" jews; you either are o are not a jew, period. There is no white, black, yellow or blue jews, just jews.

    • @elianayocheved770
      @elianayocheved770 Před 3 lety +1

      @@luisb2774 Yeah nope. Your comment is part of the problem. It's not black Jews othering themselves, it's non-black Jews doing so...If you can't see that your knee-jerk dismissal is a part of the problem, then I'm not going to explain it to you.
