Simon Raymonde Of Cocteau Twins Featuring The Autumns (Live In Mexico City)

In 1998, Simon Raymonde of Cocteau Twins recruited The Autumns as his backup band while touring Mexico. The Autumns opened each show, as seen in this brief excerpt from a Mexico City concert filmed by Piper Ferguson at Belle Epoque. Simon was also kidnapped on this tour.
As Simon describes it: “Unlikely as it sounds, I was kidnapped by a taxi driver on the night of this show, but managed to escape an almost-certain grim ending and ran about four miles from danger in intense heat while dressed in my suit and creepers till I reached help. A call was made and the promoter came out to get me and drove me straight to the venue where I walked on stage where my band (a fab bunch from LA called The Autumns) and the audience had been waiting patiently for me to play the show.
