  • Watch as master glassmakers Carl Siglin and G Brian Juk create pieces in hot glass using encalmo, a Venetian glass blowing technique, while demonstrating two completely different ways to marbleize colored glass. Siglin will demonstrate a “switched axis” vertical encalmo pattern when creating a tall organic vase vessel, and Juk will incorporate the standard horizontal encalmo pattern in the creation of a flat, symmetrical platter. See the final pieces starting at 1:59:34.

In our new live demo series, Bring the Heat, join us for a live stream of glass artists demonstrating their expertise and skillful execution while “in the zone.” During each demo, an artist will present a personal design they’ve worked to perfect, and they will be live on the mic to narrate as they work-a rarity for live artist demonstrations and a first at the Museum.

This is the only thing that completely distracts me from the World of troubles we're in. A couple of hours of focused creative peace, and that extraordinary co-operation! Thank you all for sharing your wonderful work.

I didn't know that the weather down under was just like here in Kentucky. Don't like it? Wait 5 minutes, it will change.

I watched this three times before figuring out how a wide mouth bowl it went in and a flat platter came out. Just by spinning it faster? That's insane.

I loved seeing the fix of putting a bit of glass over the holes. I'd love to see a video of gaffers making every mistake in the book and how to fix it 😂

How many mistakes and fixes can you make on one vessel 🤔

We're not sure on the origins of the phrase, but you can blow out a piece unevenly. Thanks for watching!
