Love the intervalometer on mkIII Sony cameras now (I'm using the A7III). It has the same minute exposure ramping that you mentioned in the vid so you can't see any flickering in holy grail. No stop motion mode though. It also has an interval priority option so if your interval is 10 seconds but your shutter speed wants to extend to 15 seconds in A mode then you can choose to allow the camera to automatically ramp the interval or not.

But my actual camera the canon M50 just doesn't cut it, so I was looking for an alternative. But now that the S5 is out for 1k$ less than the S1, I wonder if it could also be a good option for timelapses. If you could review the S5?, it would be awesome.

At 5:59...you say you're not sure why you would use the "export in reverse" feature. It is definitely very niche, but I'm pretty sure there are a few music videos where the singer learns his or her lyrics backwards and then has things dropping in the background (I think I saw one where water was falling on the performer). When it is reversed they're singing his/her song and things are rising in the air...a cool effect to play around with and yea definitely very niche. Great review.

My first camera was a Panasonic G6 an entry-level mirrorless, it had so many great functionalities for the time, time-lapses as well. Since switching to Sony I really miss those well-done menus and the many thought out functionalities. Since the S1 came out I thought a lot about it, but the AF performance is what holds me back, otherwise, it would be the perfect camera. AF is not very important for time-lapses of course, but most people need a camera for many different uses as well and today a good AF system is a must.

Using Sony A7R2 mainly. It is older than the S1 but clearly not as capable on the timelapse mode. In these cameras you still have the application mode where in more modern cameras is gone. So with this implementation you can use mobile apps applications as qDslrdashboard. For macro timelapses (I am doing my own trial and error here as well) full frame brings bigger challenges so using crop mode or a Apsc camera (as sony a6000 or more modern versions) will give you a wider Depth of field, something that you will need. Love your videos. Keep pushing

What will work flawlessly for the longest: better sports cameras (Gopro), photo cameras at a similar price as Gopro or special cameras dedicated to timelapse? The main purpose of cameras is to take classic photos. Some timelapse cameras won't run on USB power (without batteries). Such a camera is suitable for long work ?? Will it not break?
