I love how their voices are just barely not cracking, feeling on edge like they're getting more and more stressed. From the beginning there's this underlying feeling to the song, with hints in the lyrics, until at the end it swells up into their fight. This song has such an eerie vibe to it, especially since it’s based off of two real twin girls in the late 1800s to early 1900s. It really makes you think about what a dark time period it was for two conjoined twins.

At the end of the song when they’re arguing, I imagine the sister who wants to stay together finally gives in and agrees to risk surgery to split. But when the one that wanted her space wakes up after surgery to find out only she made it. Then to make things worse as the song ends she finds out from a doctor that there was only ever going to be one survivor, and that her sister knew that and sacrificed herself just so the other could be their own person. Finally, she was alone.

I know this isn’t the meaning of the song, obviously, but goddamn this reminds me of me and my manipulative father.
Obviously not all the lines, but “what should we eat tonight? What do we wear today?” Is one of the ones that kinda messes with me. He hates when I, y’know, have opinion, so if I throw up because he basically forced me to eat something I know would make me throw up, it doesn’t matter to him, and if I wanna wear my own damn clothes that I like, it doesn’t matter to him. I don’t really have any newer clothes, they’re all older pieces that somehow still fit me, because if I go shopping, he’ll have me dressed in pink mini skirts and slvtty dresses in no time.
That ending part is a whole new page. “Please just stop touching me,” is a line I shiver at, because my dad forces physical affection on me and says things like “I make decisions about your body, not you” or “I control what happens to your body, not you.” The idea that he’s trying to manipulate and then comfort, and when that doesn’t work, trap me with physical affection? It’s what he does and the song portrays that for me. The last bits are a bit swapped up. I think a lot of when my parents weren’t divorced, before he ran through five more wives, and he hates that. I love my mother, and he hates her. He thinks I’m an item, that I owe him my everything, but I think all I owe him is a court case, honestly. He wants to “get along,” but not in a normal sense, and I just wanna be alone.

So I’m late to the party but I found this song recently (Idk how tho). I once got so anxious and depressed that I ended up schizophrenic side affects. My main voice was named Lauretta, and she stayed fir a long time. I got rid of her, but occasionally, if I get too emotional, she likes to make a reappearance. This song makes me think of her, our toxic relationship (despite her being fake), and our history. How she was everything and nothing to me at the same time. How we were always together, and the torture she put me through. At the climax of the song, I was sobbing because I could feel it so much.

The argument part (and the song in general) made me think of OMORI, specifically Mari and Sunny.
The argument is, of course, their argument. The part that just repeats “Evelyn, Evelyn” makes me think of Basil rushing to cover up the evidence. That big instrumental crescendo at the end would be when Sunny turned around to see SOMETHING for the first time.

This song is honestly what an argument with my illness would sound like. I have a host of medical problems, but the one that has stolen my life away is Pseudotumor Cerebri. I have hereditary migraines, but this monster is causing so many that I no longer have a life. Significantly excessive spinal pressure causes your brain to behave like it has a tumor, despite not actually having one. I was only diagnosed through a spinal twp in September. I am 20. Little by little, over the years, it has stripped me of my autonomy, my freedom, my friendships, my ability to pursue my dreams, my time to write, my joy, my entire life. I couldn't even properly grieve Sally, my adoptive grandmother- my 3rd parent, my best friend.
My purpose is my son, a Bichon Frise who was originally Sally's. He's special needs, due to medical issues that only began the month after her passing. He is what keeps me from giving up. Being his mom, taking care of him. He is the best thing to ever happen to me since Sally. He's my entire heart.
But, still, every single day is a battle of wills between myself & my body. Despite not being tangible, I see this debilitating disorder as an entity separate from myself. A monster, a parasite, a plague that ravages me & pillages my every freedom like spoils of war. I hate it; it hates me. It leeches off my insides, my sanity. I would kill to be severed from it- yet the very idea clouds me with dread. I no longer know how to exist without pain. Still, I'd do anything for the chance to try.
"Evelyn, Evelyn" pairs well, too, with a poem I know well. When I read it as a little girl, I thought it was meant to be lighthearted- which is ironic, because reading it now, I've never related more to a poem I didn't write.

Without getting too personal, this is what my life is. Except there isn't a "him", there's a neurological disorder eating me alive. It's ruined my life. It's shattered my hopes, my dreams. All I want to do is live. Sometimes, I fool myself into believing I can be free because I haven't felt its claws, digging mercilessly into my brain. But then, it tugs on an endless system of chains, & my light goes out again. It feels like a physical entity, like a leech, draining whatever fight I have left in me. It's an invisible parasite- it smells like alcohol wipes, and bleach, and blood. It feels like so many needles jabbed into the same vein, over & over that puncture sites start turning into scars. It looks like a cold, overcrowded hospital room, with lights so bright, I can't open my eyes, and a bed so hard, it hurts. & all I've said here, isn't even the worst of it.

This gives me an idea for a DND character. A two headed dragon cleric. One domain for each head. They start adventuring to find a spell to separate them form each other, giving both a separate body. Over the course of the adventure, one might want to stay in one body. This leads to a huge amount of bickering and argument, until they decide to get seperate bodies and just stay together in those bodies, becoming two dragons and lairing together, because being together is all they have ever known. As for domains, I was thinking grave and fire.

I know what the song is about, but it’s so relatable to my struggle with anorexia. Feeing as if we are one in the same, but being so different. The constant fight of loving the disorder and wanting to get away from it at the same time.
Dude, I struggle with bulimia and used to struggle with anorexia. And even when I'm getting better I can totally understand what are you saying. Like, getting better is gain some weight too and that part is really hard sometimes bc there is this side of my brain that can't get the fact that we need those extra pounds...
But I'm still trying anyway. For both of us, even if the other side of me is crying almost everynight.

Edit: If I were to be one of the conjoined twins, I'd probably be Jason, since I have such a bad temper and a need for privacy. I kind of feel like he would be me in a sense! God this song is amazing, it reminds me of my life when I was younger me and my friends were so nice and practically identical, we would do everything together slowly they all became mulipulative, I broke my friendships with many friends but one girl stayed .we had nothing common yet she insisted I’d stay.She’d use me as her therapist everytime I wanted to walk away she’s guilt trip me in to staying,she’s make decisions that would affect both of us, I just wanted to leave ,begin a new chapter in life and she was holding me back.
