    Earlier, I used to make planter in the same way but now what I do is that I apply waterproof paints over cardboard boxes.. which increases its longevity multiple times 😉.. try it 👍😊👍

      I think this is a good idea. What kind of paint you have used, will it leach anything to the soil?

      @@GardeningWithNitin think about it that plastic bag is going to break down and Leach everything leeches in the sun so.....

    CAUTION>>>>if you live in a zone where u have termites DO NOT USE the carboard method or any cardboard around the garden...the humidity and the "smell" of cardboard will attract them like bees to the nectar...Sadly I tried in my garden (Texas) and ended up with a huge problem with termites and since i do not want to spray my soil with chemicals had to get ride of cardboard. I also by me not knowing...helped the population of mini centipedes to explode, and oh boy huge, and I mean huge, explosion of those critters which started to eat the roots of my vegetables... This year still battling them with soap and orange oil, they are hard to kill I am telling you just in case. I do not mind to have some of them around but when numbers are large then it is a problem to the plants...(after a rain, the walls of the house, fences, pots were covered entirely with the mini centepides...kind of horror movie LOLOL). so watch out with the use of cardboard...in some areas will work pretty good to hold moisture, but in others is a nightmare.

    This poly bag, is it the same as a regular trash bag?

    • @GardeningWithNitin
      @GardeningWithNitin  Před 3 lety +4

      Yes, it is the same as a regular trash 13-gallon trash bag. You can use the bigger one if you are using the bigger cardboard box.

      Trash can are already made up of plastic. You don't need to use trash can plastic bags.

    Will the soil move out of the hole?

  • @anamac6519
    @anamac6519 Před 2 lety +1

    How does soil not pour out of the hole?

    • @GardeningWithNitin
      @GardeningWithNitin  Před 2 lety

      You can put a cheese cloth on on the hole and then fill it. I haven't seen the soil coming out from the hole.

    • @winomadyson3092
      @winomadyson3092 Před 2 lety

      All planters need holes. Soil not falling out. Put chips, etc. at the bottom.

      You could probably just twist the bag a little bit and that’ll keep the dirt in.

    Is it safe to grow vegetables in a trash bag? I think you need to use plastic which is approved for use with food.

      @winomadyson3092 Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you sir!!. Great idea. You can also put the hole near a corner of the box instead of in the center.

    • @GardeningWithNitin
      @GardeningWithNitin  Před 2 lety

      Definitely, you can do that. How will you cover the box if the hole is in the corner? My idea is not to use just one plastic cover and cover the entire box so it won't disintegrate with water and the sun.
