Thanks for this tutorial! Speaking from experience, acrylic paint needs no pre-treatment on t-shirts. I'm thinking of going out in my kitchen and trying this on some scraps of denim fabric I have here. ~Bon
I like the crackle. It looks like looking up through the trees.
That is exactly what I was thinking!
Yes because of the sky color. Makes me want to try different colors. I had no idea how easy this was to do!!
I've learned this technique with Wax and that works better cause it's easy to remove rather than waisting water or something, but your pattern came out really good!
Really beautiful, it looks like marble.
You can add fabric medium to acrylic paint to make it stick to fabrics better! And then it's also washable and such
So many fun ideas to use this with! I kinda want to do a gold crackle over a ditzy floral fabric now.... Thanks for sharing!
Yippee 🙌 yippee-a Nik the Booksmith video-no, there’s two Nik the Booksmith videos!! I’m in hog heaven 🐷
Real batik is done with melted beeswax and clothing dye. You can use multiple dyes for different layers. Thank you for this I am glad to have a quick way to do this
This is pretty cool. May have to experiment and give it a try (when the weather warms up). I bet it would be so awesome if you used green...it would look like the veins in leaves.
I love how this looks!!
So glad I was able to re watch this tutorial.
My piece of fabric was at the part where I crackled it ready to then paint. Wasn’t sure how to completed the painting and washing part.
Now I can finish my project…..I am using the fabric to cut into book covers for the journals I design and create.
Thank you for sharing🥰
I think this is excellent! I will absolutely look into this further, thanks for the demo and inspiration!
Wow! That is a fun technique and the results are marvelous! Thank you for showing this to us Nik!
Love it! It care out so cool looking. Very clever technique.
Looks very cool! You’re a genius Nik!
Gorgeous! I have added this to my list of beautiful projects to do with my grandkids 😃
Love this technique. It never would have occurred to me. Totally trying this. The fabric looks wonderful.
Love it! Nice of you to share
It's AMAZING!! Can't wait to try it!!
I love this effect - for some reason I'm seeing myself using indigo on a pink background. TFS!
It looks so cool! Thanks for sharing. 💕
this is great - if you are not going to wash it the acrylic paint should be fine. If you plan on using it to wash or be less prone to fading you can add fabric medium - its sold with the craft acrylics - then the color will be more light/wash fast. But I need to try this technique thanks Nik!!!!
I love this! Go away snow-I want to dye fabric! Thank you so much for sharing!
Really lovely 😍 . Like you, I love crackled textures. Thanks for sharing.
ANOTHER awesome project Nik 👏👏👏👏👏THANKS for sharing 😊
What a fun effect!!! I love this!!! I spent the day colouring fabrics today lol. Thank you so much for sharing!!! Hugs, Sharon 🌷💜
So cool!!! Love it!!! Can’t wait to try it!! Thank you for sharing 😍
That is so cool!!!! Looks like a map to me!! I love it!!!
WOW that looks so cool! 🤩 ❤️
Nik, this is so cool! You are the best!
I love this, must try.
I love the effects of this treatment. Please take us along for the experience if you do the untreated method. TYFS, Donna, in California.
So cool! Thanks for sharing ❤
OMG !!! That is stinkin’ AWESOME!!! 😍😍😍
wow-can't wait til spring so I can try!!!!!!!!
This is gorgeous Nik
That is an awesome technique! I love it..... Thank you very much!!!
Love this!!!!
LOVE this! Thanks!!!
Very cool... love the result 👍🏻👩🏻🎨
Wow I have to try this!!
Very cool - looks like a summer project -
This is a very cool technique.
I marbled on cotton fabric without pretreating other than just washing it. I used Golden paint and it did not wash out so not sure if you need to pretreat.
This would be awesome to replicate that marbled look that’s so fashionable, and since it’s acrylics you can even use gold and a variation of black and gray tones. I’m thinking on trying this on a pink fabric to get that rose gold marble look. Thanks for sharing, I’ve never seen this technique before!
Yes very cool this is something I will try
Good process and beautiful 👍
I remember me and my friend doing this many years ago at art school. We used the oven in the school kitchens for drying the fabric. If we didn't keep a close eye on things the fabric would singe, which (providing we caught it before everything went up in smoke) added additional interest to the finished fabric. The flour and water paste also worked well as a resist when dripped, piped or painted onto fabric.
Super tutorial!
COOL Im going to try it
It IS cool, thank you.
whoa so cool it looks like a water ways map
I love this!!! So cool. Yep I’m jumping in with the crowd that’s gonna try this! Lol
Very cool - not seen this before tfs x
That's looks very cool 👍🖖
SO cool, will have to try it but will be waiting for when there is no snow on the ground,TFS
Take Care Hugs and Smiles
Well might have to make a note on my iPhone so I don’t forget to try this when it’s a little warmer out ! Right now it might freeze vs dry outside.
Good Morning. This video came up on my home screen this morning. But I can't see WHO'S video it is on my bedroom TV. Then YOU came on. I should have known something THIS CREATIVE was you. I don't know HOW you dream up all these cool ideas. But I like your channel cuz its always very different than anyone else's. You run the CRAFT LABORATORY!!!
I love to experiment too. WTH,...let's try THIS. (My favorite method).
I love Batik. Yes I made some in 70s, in my Crafting class in HS. What ever happened to that thing? Sure wish I had it NOW!!
Seems junk journal people would love Batik. This is way easier than melted wax.
This seems pretty messy,...but like the best hamburgers,....the BEST are MESSY!!
Flour & water are CHEAP, and everybody has some in the pantry. I'm sure you can use other dyes, like food color, instead of Ritz, yes??? Of even skip the dye part all together. Just get "veins" on your fabric like it is.
I'm gonna try using a piece of an old bed sheet.
Thanks for the sharing. And for the COOL idea. YAY!

PS - I received Amazon order yesterday with more spray acrylic. (I've been using it to spray over watercolor papers to seal.) So I'm ready to try the Faux Glycene paper. As soon as the RAIN STOPS!
Keep experimenting. We'll be watching.
Well, acrylic paint, once it dries, kind of turns to plastic, so it's insanely difficult or near impossible to remove, so it's fairly permanent.
This would have a lot of fun possibilities. Imagine like a deep blue or black fabric with gold veining!
While the flour is wet you could draw patterns in the flour, let it dry and paint in the pattern ? Just an idea.
Love your video, got to try this, thank you
Very cool
Did you machine wash after you did all the painting and rinsing with the hose? So so cool!!
So cool
Looks amazing! Ok question it winter and your out with no shoes! 🤦♀️I’m cold just watching this☺️
Sweet!
Fabulous
Cool.
Oooo I just found my next project😀😀
Thanks you for the vidéo. Please Can i use this technic with VAT if i don't have the product thant you use ?
I love how that turned out and such an easy process...what is soaking it in soda detergent though? Detergent with baking soda mixed in?🤷🏽♀️
Washing soda not the same as baking soda. Find washing soda in the detergent aisle.
what fabric did you use ? will this technique work on cotton jacquard fabric and canvas fabric?
I just happened to look at my phone and here you were. I love how this looks Nik❣️ This might just be the first project I try when I get back to crafting.
I seriously don't feel like doing any now because my tremendously loved and adored husband passed away very suddenly last week 😭. This was the first time I even picked up my phone since Jan. 12th.
Take care and Stay Safe 😷
Please accept my sincerest condolences. I am a fairly young widow (11 years gone) and can relate. Please allow yourself to grieve however YOU need to, not anyone else’s idea of how you should. I can attest to the therapeutic power of crafting and pouring my pain into creating. Be well... I am so sorry for your loss 💕
@@April4YHWH
Thank you April. Your words mean a lot. I do know that things will get better (eventually), because this is the second husband that I have lost. 😢😭
Eileen - I'm so very sorry. I lost my husband in a car wreck 18 yrs ago. I was 33 at that time, our daughter was 10 months old. Like April said, grieve how YOU need to for as long as you need to. Some days I created and other days I break-ed, (as you know) until one day you wake up and can finally breathe again. Know you're in my thoughts and prayers. 💕
Quick question would this work on a denim fabric or would it be to thick ?
Thats a new technique for me. When we did batick in 8th grade we used melted crayons and then dye.
I really like your results.
How did you remove the wax?
@@sherrifredrickson2509Paint the cloth with melted crayon. Whatever you wanted. When finished, wad the cloth up to create the crackles and dip it into a bucket of dye water and let it soak. Then take it out to hang and dry. Last thing was ironing it between newspapers until the wax was out. Just keep replacing the newspapers until it's finished.
@@lorikendrick5076 oh cool!! Would paper towel work, too?
@@sherrifredrickson2509 Don't know. Maybe a good experiment!
Nice 🥰🐞🤗
Love this alot! Tyfs!
Hello😀, I had a doubt. Did you use all purpose flour?
looks so easy except I don't have a yard or hose. I never knew how this was done
Very triky method is it authentic or not
💗
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Looks like a nerve to me. Might work with one of your "medical" journals as well. Anyway. Looks really cool! I will have to try this. Edit: or roots - that's what I was thinking. It looks like roots.
C😎😎L!
Qual a composição da massa???
flour and water :)
👍👍👍💕🇩🇰
Классно снято. Молодец. Лайк. Я тоже люблю работать своими руками и смотреть видосы про ручной труд. Даже снял несколько видосов на эту тему, на мой новый канал. Загляни, оцени.
It's not kinda cool, sorry.
It's VERY cool looking.
Very cool... love the result 👍🏻👩🏻🎨
