- We go deep into the World Rugby archive to find father and son combination Andy and Owen Farrell when they played together for Saracens in 2008. Today, Andy is preparing for a World Cup as Ireland's defence coach whilst Owen will be an integral part of an England team coached by Eddie Jones - the same man who gave Owen his first chance over a decade ago...

Most personality I’ve ever seen displayed by Owen
To be fair I think he has a lot of personality, he doesn’t do interviews much, regardless of what you think of him on the field he does come across very well when he does interviews
Please say there’s someone who watches squidge rugby giggling at this
I watch the legend thats is squidge rugby
TK MoneyMax same
Rowan Rabbittoaster yep
I watch squish’s rugby but I don’t understand what people are commenting about... Can someone explain please?
@@joshplatojohn12345hsbs It shows them in this video as being very close, but in reality, Owen barely got any attention from his father, and Squidge shows this very well
Pretty awesome too be honest playing with your old man professionally
@Ignore what I’m about to say but 12?? He was 16.
@@T-1001 r/wooooosh
@@thj6293 Are you wooooshing me because of the commenting guys name? If so then wooooosh away.
Not when he picks the team!
LeBron James might team up with his son.
Anybody else think Owen looks a lot like Andre Arshavin (ex Arsenal midfielder) I’m this clip?
0:57 - Squide was spot on.
I came to the comments expecting a squidge reference
Owen Farrell is definitely built more like an O’Loughlin (his mums side). His dad at 16 was bigger physically than Owen Farrell at his biggest. Still two standout players of their respective generations.
We all know why this is recommended...
That’s Pocock 7 and James oconir at 10 plus Sharp 5& Harry in back row. Not a bad team to debut against for faz
@@tg689 How come the first sentence of your comment ends in a full stop when it's a question?
T G what if I told you I am not English and learned English as my 3rd language? Did you know the internet is worldwide haha... I’m sure you may seem more spastic than me if you had to write Vietnamese or French names!
@@hanoitripper1809 the thing is O'Connor isn't an english name its Irish Ó'Connor / Ó'Conchobhair
Fear Mór Pierce Mac Maghnáis yeh I remember in 91 World Cup the Irish wrote “ O’Fahengaue” for the Aussie semi final!
@@hanoitripper1809 Your English is very good, please ignore the troll.
So thats where he learned to shoulder up.
Nah his dad played rugby League before union so he learnt the shoulder from rugby league
Some Rugby League legends here boys.
2:26.. always been a fan of high tackles I see..
Potato
This clip was so meta!
Farrell will be a legend of the game, nah he already is.
Good to 2 rugby union lads talk where they come from!
O’connor was only 18 too during that game... but made his debut at 16
Zombie Jesus he played for Ireland lol 😂
They look like brothers. Very small age difference. Probably conceived below the age of consent. Andy was a grandfather at 28.
Ignore what I’m about to say but 16
Ignore what I’m about to say but he was 16 can’t you do basic maths
Ignore what I’m about to say but 7
Great Farrells!
Wow. Not a single shoulder tackle in this video. Good job
There is a high shot though
My son played against Owen a couple of years before this.... I also played with and against my son!!!
I played against my son in a pre season friendly many moons ago.. He's still got my stud marks on his back haha
He would have joined me in the national divisions, promising scrum half before he had a motorcycle scrambling accident and snapped his ankle..
@canvas bed absolutely.. As the coaches used to say 'if You're on the deck, You are grass' ... If I didn't leave the pitch looking like a hornby railways track, I wasn't playing well.. Forwards today are far too good looking haha
@canvas bed Yeah me too.. I was considered big for a hooker at 15 1/2 stone.. I would be smaller than most backs now..
@canvas bed Dam right.. And friends made for life.. I'm meeting a couple of Tongans an Aussie and a Kiwi from my playing days in Japan for the WC with 5 other mates..
So Andy must have been 16 years old when Owen was born...
Willem Kotze Really?
Only just 16 as well, which means he was actually 15 when ... well, you know what.
yes Andy married his childhood sweetheart and is still with her. Amazing
Ye they're from the North
@@TheMintedAero1993 Brilliant
which won?
That loss in the final of the RWC against the Springboks, rounded him up as a leader. It thought him humility and respect. He will win the next world cup.
Terribly aged this 😂
😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂
Was he like 16 or 17
Jesus what age was Andy when Owen was born?!?
I think he was around cheese. Best regards, Cleg Smegson
16
I hope squidge has seen this
Big at 17!
So was it his dad who told him to underestimate the Springboks?
Leave it out mate, you’re getting worse than the English for going on about it 😂
Was Andy 12 when he became a father?
2:26 even back then he was tackling round the neck
Apart from somehow beating NZ in the world cup, he's curated a particularly average phase of England rugby
Depends how you set your bar. 106 Caps, playing since 2012 , 3 x 6 nations titles, led Englands record consecutive win record of 18 wins, finalist at RWC. Then you have Premiership and Heineken Cup wins, European player of the year 2017, , 3 Lions wins and 45 odd points from JW to become the 2nd highest points scorer in international rugby behind Dan Carter. I would say that’s a pretty Impressive career
two words that still haunt owen: cheslin kolbe!
A great try and moment for Bok fans but is a world class winger sidestepping out of position center really that spectacular ? Far more impressive IMHO were the Bok front five in the final
SOMEONE SHOW SQUIDGE
Phillip and Alexander
Don’t they like...hate eachother
What age Andy become a dad? 10 maybe
John Smith 17
Basics….like tacking
Bruh he so small here
We’re they born with that nose? Or did they both break it in the same way.
First!!
Bet they never heard of the barret brothers
Probably not because this was 2008 and the Barrett brothers were playing school boy rugby
But these are Dad and Lad
maverick buckley same shite u wanker
Farrell and Beauden Barrett being mates suggests they do
Still never learned how to tackle right....
they are wasted in thugby
The most over rated fly half in the world. 😒
Says sb that doesn't know a thing about being a fly-half
Nepotism
You don't actually believe that do you?
Andy Farrell is a legend, his son isn't and never will be
He's already achieved 10 times more in Union than his dad ever did. They are both legends
Farrel is so over rated.
