GE FRIDGE: HOW TO CHANGE WATER FILTER

- Today is a simple DIY video on changing the water filter on a GE side-by-side fridge. This video was filmed on GE model: GSS25IYNBHFS.
Not all water filters are the same. Best to read the info and verify if NSF 42 and 372 certifications. Some will filter out more chemicals like VOCs, THM, copper and chlorine and some will do more or less. Please don't just look at the price when purchasing only. Generally the water filter lasts about 6 months.
GE fridge model have a very simple design for replacing the water filter. In this video, I'll walk thru the how-to step to change the water filter.

I did change LE A6 shows
Please help me. 3rd filter. 1st 2 were xwf. Needed xwfe. Finally got it but filter doesn't reset. Looks almost exactly the same as this fridge you're working on.
Under water filter mine doesnt say "reset hold 3 sec" mine says nothing under that button
You have a different model fridge. See if you can pull the model number or the manual to find how to reset the filter after change.
replaced the filter in my gss25 GE frig,just as you described,now get an ERR code when trying to dispense water. have unplugged unit, reset codes, but no luck ??
Is the filter on tight? Don't think unplugging works. Did you do the reset as in the video?
@@netman88 Thanks for your reply. Using an identical filter (CRYSTALA) fits perfectly,can hear a slight click when its in place,did reset as you ( and the manual ) suggested. ice despenses fine,but pressing water dispenser gives a E rr code. No luck

Did you reset the unit after changing the filter?
Reset where? On the door where it says Filter?
Where is reset button?
I get the same ERR message and nobody in here has stated the solution.

@@netman88 I replaced the filter, reset the light, press for water and it lights up "ERR". that's it. Through my research I found that it's the wrong filter. It's supposed to be an "XWFE" filter and I have the "XWF" filter.
I installed my correctly but I'm getting an error message when trying to get water from the dispenser. I've tried to reset just as instructions say and still "Err" message
Maybe unplug fridge and wait 1 minute and plug back in and retry.
I have same fridge but I'm g3tting err message and now water won't come out

Nop Xmfe filter and no luck fridge do not recognize them
Give me err code, no water coming out. I reinstalled the old one and the water is coming out and no error code. How to change the new one without err code
