William Shatner is a legend of Star Trek as well as a multitude of films, television, radio with a career spanning over 80 years.
We had an incredible time speaking with William as he discusses his plans for a futuristic burial site, his current show Stars On Mars, his documentary You Can Call Me Bill, his favorite sci fi films, his drug use (or lack there of), and his reaction to Steve-O’s antics and remembering the infamous roast of Charlie Sheen.

Hi Steve-o and Crew, hi William Shattner :-) My aunt in germany has been cremated and buried in a forest next to a tree. It is called "Friedwald". Means like "peace forest". She took her own life one day after christmas. She was supposed to visit us, but she had no energy and she was probably afraid of being a burden. Her inside world did not match the outside world anymore. She had a long life, but also a lot troubled times with her abusive husband and her kids suffering. Pain problems and pain medication addiction, paranoia, a lot of things. She prepared it for a long time and some pills ready just in case she could not do it anymore. She wouldnt have had long anymore and there was nothing in sight to improve her quality of life drastically. It would have taken more energy than she had left at an age around of 80.
It was sad, but i completely understand her and think she made the right decision. The thing that makes me the most sad, that she was alone in her final moment. If i had known and she would have allowed me i would have liked to be there for her. So she wouldnt feel alone in her last moment :( It is the only thing that makes me sad, thinking of what she might have been thinking alone in her "big house" when she took the pills when going to bed. I hope she could find comfort in the people that loved her.

      @JamesLeeBuzz Před 6 měsíci +1

I'm sorry your dog is gone. It's always incredibly heartbreaking when your pets die, as much as we already know it'll happen since they have short lives, they become family. I've cried harder losing my dogs and cats over the years than I ever have when a friend or close family member died, no matter how close I was with my human family, somehow the loss of my pets had hit me so much harder, I'd cry for days in a row, and feel so sad and depressed for a long time.
Eventually I get a new pet, and fall in love with them, knowing full well I'll be heavily grieving in about 10-18 years but it's absolutely worth it to give these animals the love and care they need, a happy and healthy life they might not have otherwise had. I know you'll always have those happy memories with them to cherish and fondly remember 🙂✌️

@@JamesLeeBuzz very well said. Much like you I'm sure, there are these little triggers that would mean nothing to anybody else but are tied to a small memory I didn't even know was there.
Almost 5 months removed the house still feels empty. My kid asked for 5 dogs for Christmas. I'm still not ready, but know when a little dog needs me, I'll be there ready to accept again.
It's funny how my family and a lot of friends don't quite get the whole Jackass fascination. But the absolute best people are here. Again thank you for your kind words.

His cognitive ability is fantastic. My grandma is 82, and her brain has completely deteriorated. I think the key is keeping physically and mentally active. Many people give up on physical and mental activity when they retire, and the body and brain decline at an accelerated rate. Once it begins, it's much harder to prevent, or to regain your previous abilitites.

It's refreshing to have people talk about death without all the usual drama.
I grew up in a household very much like it, I know exactly what my parents want and have planned out and when I got married I decided to have this conversation with my wife.
And regrettably, I'm glad I did because she passed away 6 months after we married.
She had lost her father when she was 13 and they'd scattered his ashes up in Scotland, near a certain Loch.
Absolutely beautiful place, a tiny village near by with nothing but rolling hills and nature.
She asked me to scatter her ashes where her fathers had been scattered.
Both of them had no tombstone and when I die I have the same thing planned.
I don't need a stone, or plot of land.
On a long enough time scale we'll all be forgotten, even the planet Earth won't last forever.
In my death, I'll return to the Earth and hopefully my nutrients etc will help something grow and live on.
Like Steve-O said, it's not an ending, it's a cycle.
In my case I see it as a passing of the torch to future life and in some small way a piece of me will go on living in whatever grows and feeds upon me.
And if spirits and after life's etc are real, then great. But If not I'm at peace with the circle of life.
I'm not religious but I most identify with the idea of reincarnation for the very real reason our lives and deaths will go on to beget more life.
It's not quite what Buddhist reincarnation believes (the whole Samsara stuff etc) but just as a matter of fact I really draw comfort from the idea other life will draw strength from my own, as odd as it might sound.
It's for similar reasons I'm totally OK with organ donation too.More than happy if folks get to live as a consequence.
Use what you can and cremate the rest.
But regardless of my views, honestly if you learn nothing else from my comments, you should "have the chat" with loved ones and friends.

That is interesting. I buried my Dads ashes under a Pear tree in my front yard several years ago and it has grown bigger and more lush than the other one we planted at the same time. It grows fruit every year, nice fat, sweet pears every fall. Just got to get them before the squirrels do. I told my mom about "Dads tree" and how well it was doing compared to other trees we have planted over the years and she said, "Yeah... Bone meal works really well as a fertilizer." Sorry bout that Dad😂 😂😂. I only scattered about half his ashes under the tree tho, we scattered the rest of them in the ocean at Muir Beach outside of San Francisco as it was one of his favorite places in the world. If he had known how crazy things would get in the city he would roll over in his grave if he had one.

Man he looks great for 92 years old, he seems to be great mentally and physically he looks like he’s getting around good. There is a lady who works at a gas station near my house who is 38 years old and looks 65. I know this because she asked a man for his ID and he said really? Look at me do u think I’m under 18 with all this gray hair? How would you feel if I asked you for ur ID? You gotta be what in ur 60’s? You would laugh if I asked for ur ID. She said you think I’m in my 60’s? He said ok late 50’s? She said no I’m 38 which he laughed and said show me ur ID and yeah she was 38. When I was paying she asked me could you believe that guy saying I look like I’m 60 years old? Obviously I was nice and said no but yeah she looked min 65. My whole point is how crazy it is the difference in aging people can be. One of my friends was bald and gray at 20 years old then look at my dad he didn’t have a gray hair till 60 and has a full head of hair.
