I remember the first time I played Crystal. I knew the Red Gyardos was always shiny and had the sparkles. The first time Suicune appeared it did the same thing. My 7 year old mind assumed it was the same and was always sparkly. So I didn't bother to keep that Suicune when I made a new game. Didn't realise what I lost for a while....

I did this for the Hoenn dex (emerald) already but used RNG abuse for most of the Pokemon. I'll let you know that it's pretty much impossible without RNG abuse...it took me the good part of a year to make it happen.

Nice video! My sickest capture was on emerald. I had used up my masterball on Latias (not shiny) and was capturing and resetting kyogre cause I wanted a good nature on it. It was rough cause it had rest and double edge making it really difficult to capture it because of crits and recoil damage. I was about 20 encounters in with only being able to capture him on half my encounters when suddenly a pink kyogre showed up. It was the most nerve wracking time of my life, but after a long battle with crossing my fingers to avoid crits or 7 double edges in a row I managed to capture him, I was so happy, exhausted and relieved u have no idea :)

If theres ever a remake of the gen 2 games on the switch, I might get it just so I could go to Victory Road and shiny hunt Graveler specifically. That was the first (and so far only) shiny I have encountered in the wild, and it was back when I didn't understand shinies and how rare they were.

Funnily enough, the first shiny I hunted was also moltres in fire red! I didn't keep tabs on how many it took, but I can safely say I did it between BW2 and X/Y. I didn't have a strategy in mind so looking back I'm just glad I got my hot flamingo!

This brings back memories when I caught my first shiny, shiny stufful and then it got lost in pokemon home and went into a mysterious void. It still has scarred me for life till this day. 😥
On the topic of trying to catch a Pokemon that took years to catch, not a shiny, but on my copy of Pokemon LeafGreen I have yet to catch the roaming Entei after 17 years of trying to catch it.
Hopefully one day I’ll manage to catch it.

Tried to catch a normal Salamence myself, ended with two shiny Bagon and no Salamence show up.

This is hilarious, and I have a very short story about that one time I caught a legendary with normal balls. Took only like 40 minutes and a lot of closing the game and opening it back up again, and it was totally not worth it, but I regret nothing.
Wow, six thousand encounters?! I just got my first shiny yesterday, a shiny modest kyurem and I got it in one day, so I didn’t know how rare shinys were.

My family is like that to an extent. XD My dad named one of our cats Big Mama before we found out it's actually a boy and we just call them Tom. :p It's mainly because we actually have TWO spotted kitties, so yeah, go figure. ^^;

one in an emulator, and one in a game that doesn't even work anymore.

I found a shiny pidgey in Let's Go Eevee by total accident then forgot it was there and reset my save file. So thats fun. (I got a screenshot though so the memory of my first ever shiny lives on)

If you have the save file you can get the pokemon on an official cartridge
The only shinies I’ve got are from let’s go and swsh and the odds are so high (low? Good) that those don’t really count
@@CountLilac yeah I found the shiny odds on let’s go ridiculously high. I never found one on my first play through or when I made a literal save file designed for shiny hunting, but I found them on my other play throughs while minding my own business

Moltres is roaming in Platinum. In FRLG, it is a stationary encounter on One Island.
I remember my first shiny:
It was in ORAS. I was training a Surskit and (for some ungodly reason) only had it in my party. I decided to use Sweet Scent for horde EXP and first try got shiny Nincada. But long story short I only had moves that would take forever to kill or kill instantly and these things were barraging me with Sand Attacks. So with a sigh, I used Bubble and watched all of them faint.
It's been six years and I've found and caught shinies but I still want a gold Nincada. Unfortunately I don't have Omega Ruby cartridge (or the time) to Sweet Scent for hordes. Maybe one day.

Omg that must’ve been so amazing when you finally got shiny moltres on your FireRed. It’s such an amazing and beautiful shiny. I remember getting my own shiny moltres this year on Let’s Go eevee. Even after like 6 years I’m still going for shiny Articuno till this day and I’m gonna fulfill my dream of getting one on Leafgreen someday.
I remember my first hunt. I was still relatively new to the franchise, and walking through the Alola region and knew little about the game. Then I ran into a cute little doggo, I immediately knew what to do. I heard about a new way to hunt, called SOS chaining, so continued the game to try and get an Adrenaline Orb. I found the orb, and immediately went back to hunt the blue doggo. It was a really fast hunt, over in about 100 encounters, and thus was my first hunt. A few years later I’m going for hunt after hunt, working towards that incredible end goal of a full shiny living dex.

Funny side note, didn't know about shiny's until just before sun and moon released, so that was revolutionary 😂 however, only truly shiny hunted once for a feebas, because shiny milotic. I also probably won't again as I'm sure my luck went out permanently after a first encounter shiny zapdos. (Nowhere near as impressive as it was on let's go pickachu 😂)

It probably would have been a good idea to bring along timer balls as well. In Gen 3 they start being better than ultra balls after turn 10 with a maximum catch rate of *4 at turn 30. They also cost less than Ultra Balls too.

Been shiny hunting Moltres in HG for 10 years an I finally got it An it wasn't even the nature I wanted and its IVs are even worse So I was very disappointed but I still got a pink moltres to follow me around after which was the sole purpose of me hunting it Lol currently working on mew two an I'm on my 2nd year hunting that in HG
my first shiny was a fever dream it was on SS and I was battling the electrodes int the secret rocket hideout and on my 3rd electrode it was a shiny and it took 5 minutes to process what happened, I caught it and I still have it to this day as i made sure I could transfer it when I needed to just so I could keep it. It was especially cool as it reminded me of the way the pokeballs were in gen 2 on GBC and it felt nostalgic for some reason. I always think back to that exact moment when I find a shiny and was the reason, I always strive to get at least one shiny per generation to pay respect to my first shiny encounter i ran into by accident. Also I named him Dynamo because i was a kid that was obsessed with technology at the time.

This seems like a pretty good video for this story, my first ever shiny Pokemon was a legendary and I don’t even think I knew what they were at the time. On one of my early play throughs of Ruby (probably somewhere around 2007-2008 so I was like 8 or 9) I went to go catch Groudon to progress the game, so I saved in front of him first per usual prior to the battle, however, I was under equipped on balls at the time so it took me multiple trys to catch him. Well, after a few failed attempts I tried again obviously only to find a golden Groudon in front of me rather than the normal red one I expected. I was pretty stocked to actually be able to catch him that time of course. I moved him to gen 4 eventually so he should still be there just left behind (I pretty much only played the gen 3 and 4 games as a kid, although now Im into gen 8 lol)
You should transfer him up to gen 8.

That’s hugely impressive. I shiny hunt via Pokémon GO and Sword and Shield mostly nowadays, and it took me 4 days and over 2031 eggs via the Masada method without a shiny charm just for a shiny Sinistea. I respect your long hunts and I’m glad they ended well
