- Star Wars: The Old Republic is an incredibly fun game to get into. The cutscenes are some of the best you’ll find in any online game, and the class stories will take you on a journey to a long, long time ago, set in a galaxy that exists thousands of years before the Star Wars movies take place. In the game you can play as one of eight classes, each one with a unique story and combat style, that range from the clever and cunning Imperial Agent to the noble and powerful Jedi Knight. Whether you’re new to online gaming or have more experience, if you enjoy Star Wars, I would definitely recommend trying out Star Wars: The Old Republic. If you’re looking to get into the game, here are some new player tips that are great for newbies and returning players.

Thank you for everything you do. As an original player back in 2011, I've taken years of breaks from this game, and you have made it easy for me to understand the changes that have happened while I was gone.
Ditto. Beta player here that took a few years off. Great to have videos like this help me get back in quickly.
lol I thought the real JohnnyUtah commented here for a second
**sparkle, sparkle, sparkle**
I found you makin the datacon sound to b adoreble and I found the tips a good refresh for me since I jus came bac to the game after a two yr break lol
😂❤
:)
Could we get a free to play player inventory management guide? I saw bits and pieces scattered and dont see a particular video for new players and their inventory.
Lol
5:20
Yea,that happens with SWTOR dialogue sometime
Option reads "I'll help you"
Dialogue says "I'll help you---die faster" as you forgot to check the alleigance.
Made this mistake, the sarcasm in the dialogue is real lol
Choice : Its not you its me
Dialogue : its not you its me who is dumb enough to trust you Imbeciles
Definitely choose a stealth class as your second "Style". SWTOR has a lot of nuisance mobs that will waste your time with meaningless fights and it's hard to avoid them without stealth. Avoiding these encounters really helps keep the game enjoyable
Used to be really fun when the game first game out since people were always taking stuff down together.
@@victorraymond3420 mannn classic swtor when it first came out listening to drake take care on repeat as zergs of new players shit on every zone
absolute kino
take me back
This REALLY made the game seem far less intimidating. Ive loved KOTOR ever since it came out in 2003, and I’ve always wanted to experience the story of SWTOR, but couldn’t get into the MMO style of gaming. My character in SWTOR sat at level 2 for years until I watched this. Now in 2 days I’m at level 15 and progressing quickly! Not only has this helped me understand and be able to experience SWTOR, but it’s helped me become interested in MMOs ❤ thank you so much for this tutorial!!
For the new players, with companions you’ll mainly want to use your companion as a healer, but sometimes it is best switching them to tank when you are fighting a strong solo enemy. The enemy’s focus will revert to your companion instead of you.
I feel like it depends on the build if you're mara, jugg, or any high dps build that can semi-tank. then maybe put your companion to healer or damage.
I usually default to putting companions on DPS, except for the most difficult enemies. It's just the quickest.
It's so awesome that SWTR still have new players every day and even more awesome seeing Veterans playing after all this years and updating guides for the new players ❤️🔥 pls don't let this community die
Old player here and just wanted to say that yeah, this is a game worth playing for the stories alone, even as a single-player experience.
Thank you for your work in the SWTOR community, much appreciated!
Last time I played SWTOR was when companions had their own gear and had to mod them out so it's been a hell of a return. Thank you for the vid
Yeah, that tripped me out when I came back to the game last month. After 10 years. SO MUCH has changed, especially the combat trees, which I had thoroughly studied and memorized and then seeing how it is now.. Oof. Everyone and the guild community I built is long gone now. Had like 10,900 CCs saved up beause I left my sec.key on, so that was a big incentive to return LOL
Some other nice tips I have found useful are: You can take the shuttle to fleet as soon as level 7, and the Crafting Mission there will get you level 8 or close to it. You can also visit the Adaptive Gear Vendor (Supplies Section) there and buy/start to buy already modded armor sets/weapons (roughly 2k credits, if I recall, for everything). I would also recommend people sub even once, because while subbed, you can make classes with those "locked" races first, and then you can keep playing them even after the sub ends, which makes it easier to unlock them for your Legacy.
true, get a race to lvl 50 it unlocks it for the entire account.
Coming back to the game after not playing for about 7 years. It's still so much fun and I'm REALLY thankful for all your contributions. Especially armors, mounts, and stronghold info. I'm hoping to find a community and learn... there's so much content and I don't know much!
even if you're a long time player, surprising what we might not know or have forgotten. thanks for the tips!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for clearly articulating important key words. I can tell the effort you put behind your pronunciations and cadence to make us audiophiles who learn from listening rather than watching so happy!!!
I honestly don't know what I would have done without Swtorista! Your tutorials are the best out there! Very informative and easy to follow your instructions. I've watched others and I get lost in over information or over descriptions. I just started last month, don't know why it took me so long haha, I love star wars! But anything I have had questions on or needed to search for answers I have found on your CZcams and your awesome webpage! Thank you so much for your hard and dedicated work!
Coming back after many years I have felt lost! An awful feeling when you used to know so much... I feel a lot better with your "Reminder" and not so mindless! New players can really benefit by your Tutorial. So many Thanks!
Top tips Swtorista! I haven't really had a good look through all the achievements. That's something I'd like to explore a little further. Cheers! :)
Hi, I am a returning player from many years ago. Lots has changed. Thank you for, without a doubt, the most comprahensive guide for new players (and me) lol. Glad to be back, lots to do now.
welcome back to the game!
I'm giving the game a real shot for the first time now, and your videos have been a wonderful help. Thank you!
The Alt+M shortcut is a lifesaver !!! I have Played for like 3 years and just got to know about this omfg thank you so much!!!
I love it, barely any fluff, just all tips and help. Subbed.
One thing I'll also put here!
Some enemies (I think they have to be strong rank or higher) can be harvested with crew skills just like the nodes all around the map. Of note I've seen droids who can be scaveneged, and monster/beasts who can be taken apart
Very useful for someone who wants a lot of credits. Just go Scavenge/Bioanalysis/Slicing as your crew skills and rake in that cash!
Just started last week videos have definitely helped get thought all the systems.
Great video… I started playing from the launch in December 2011 until 2015 then stopped… restarted few weeks ago and your videos help a lot.
Thank you for all you've done for SWTOR players.
I've never been able to get the controller set ups to work with your guide unfortunately but I love the work you do bringing new players to this game
Played this back in 2013 and stopped once i hit lvl 50 jedi guardian and right before the hutt cartel expansion and finally got back to it again recently on Steam. Feels good
Great guide again, thank you!
5:18 one thing I'd like to add to number 14 is to only Reset the mission, never Abandon them!
Unlike most mmorpgs, if you Abandon a mission in SWTOR, many are gone for good unless you find someone who has the quest and can share it with you. This does include purple Planetary story quests so be careful!
This has to be wrong, I've never seen planetary story arcs disappear forever from abandoning the quest
@@hylianro It might differ per arc or per mission. I had it happen on the Nar Shaddaa story arc only months ago. Aborted one mission by accident and I could not obtain it again, nor continue the arc. Support couldn't help and said I had to find someone who still had the quest and ask them to share it. Luckily that did work.
@@asheliagaming maybe a bug?
@@hylianroCould be. It's happened before to people on different missions so definitely a recurring one.
The *Class Story* quests should be re-acquirable, but for everything else you're SOL unless, as you said, you can find someone to share it. (Partner and I made that mistake once way back when we first started playing, and I'm still salty about it 😅)
this was a very easy to follow tips and tricks. Saved to useful videos. Great stuff!
Yayyyyy you updated these so well! Really helps as a new player!
About to jump back in again, thanks for the thorough video!
I love your yearly New player SWTOR videos I watch them everytime even though I have played casually for over 10 years lol
Pro Tip - if you have tons of credits like me but can't access them without premium just pay for a month and kit out a bunch of characters, all my characters got their own cute outfit and weapons now! I did this a year ago and haven't felt the need to spend money on the game since.
Great guide swtorista! One of the legends in the community! 🙌🏻
the chat and xp spam tips are the most pertinent to me right away...tons of good stuff here. Almost to level 25 so will look for a guild soon!
Always good to brush up on the basics
I'm really glad this game is still around and getting attention, I've played pretty much since release.
Great guide, thanks! Getting back into SWTOR after a 9 year absence and I only ever did two of the class story lines so I have so much new content to explore. It's a little intimidating jumping back into this game that I barely played to begin with but I am as in love with the Star Wars universe as I ever was.
I'm getting starting for the first time once I get home from work today with my best friend/husband. I'm a completely new player and he played a bit in 2014. Our typical MMO of choice is Final Fantasy XIV but we've talked about playing SWTOR together for years.
Thank you so so much for this! It's an amazing resource. Would you ever consider releasing a document version as well, for ease of searching key terms? Understandable if not, this is already so great!
May the Force be with you. 😊
Oh, just saw your link for your guides! Excellent! You're awesome!
Wow welcome to the game!!! And welcome back to your favorite person to play with haah. I have been trying FFXIV lately. And YES almost every video here has a match text guide!!
even with over 1300 hours i still learned a bunch of stuff i didn't know about before, wonderful video as always!
Been thinking about coming back after I finish replaying the KOTOR games. Was checking out some of your vids to see what's changed, and I would love to see a showcase of all the class' combat animations. No need for rotations or descriptions, I just want to see what all the skills look like.
I stopped playing this game a while ago, but I’m so happy it’s still getting love and support
Great video! Thank you for all the information!
This guide is amazing! Thank you so much!
cheers!!
I justed started the game today and this was rly helpful thank you
How wonderful is this lady, what a nicely put guide x
Thank you it was grate to see all the tips, as a new player a was not sure if I want to do flash point but I will give it a try. thanks
This video is amazing and so full of useful information. Thank you so much.
Love the game. Thank you for all your help and information.
❤❤❤
Love Consular even when sabotaging the Imperials.
May the Force be with you!
1:47 Wow, that Legacy Name. Is that the sound a Wookiee makes when he rips your arms off?
Thanks for posting the video. Lots of good info.
I never really paid attention to the outfitter but thanks to you i still look the same but have better stats, thank you 😊
I didn't know about the credit symbol in chat or that you could Ctrl+U on the character selection screen. Always something new to learn!
You have been awesome for learning the game!
Regarding screenshots, on Windows 10 and later, typing the Windows Key + Shift + S will launch the snipping tool selector, so you can just click and drag without needing to open the tool first.
Hi just wanted to say that I had tried like a few times before and never got very far cuz was lost and confused but thanks to this video I say last night I decided to try it again and thanks to you which now I feel foolish to how simple it was to change I started again with a new character Jedi which WOW Im enjoying it so much hahahaha wont lie still feel alittle lost but I appreciate your guides and how easy it was for old not so smart guys like me can understand 😅 so just wanted to say thank you and hope to keep learning from you and having fun
Great video - good to see an updated version. I always learn things from guides people make for beginners
Needed this, thank you
even as a beta player (if you want to call it beta) who started playing this day 1 since i couldnt play Galaxies anymore. i needed a star wars game to fill the void. ive taken breaks here and there. for upwards of about 5 months or so. and even i found some of these tips very helpful
Just started playing the game. Great tips!
teaching people about phototaking was absolutely angelic of u ❤️ ty for confirming my suspicions about material management LOL, i had a budding stash in my legacy storage and was like "...wait"
Very late reply, but your comment made me laugh! Glad to share the tips.
New player here! Loved the video. Super helpful. I'll definitely be coming back to your channel for more SWTOR stuff!
cheers! :)
Thank you for making great swtor videos!
Amazing guide, thank you.
Thank you, great guide!
Awesome video ! Thanks a lot :) Looking forward to see new videos)
I havnt seen a academy vid since 2022, im happy to learn you still continue it
Perfect for me. Much thanks!!!!
You are the best, thank you for all your content!
I've only played WoW Classic but want to play this and Lord of the Rings. Thank you for the tips!
you are a legendary player and content creator in the SWTOR universe, thanks for your commitment !
very late reply, thanks for such a nice comment!
I used to think people who play on consoles were just peasants, I didn't know there were disabled people who couldn't use mouse and keyboard. I learn something new everyday. Thanks mistress.
Excellent video, extremely helpful
Thaks this guide is awesome :).
Doing a review on this game, and I just miss playing this. I'm an on and off type of player with this game, and I keep regretting leaving this game as it is so fun to play.
Great information thanks!
21:13 I've played on and off since the beta, it never occurred to me that you could deconstruct gear that way. I enjoy mixing sets, and the most annoying part of making a new character was always deleting all the pieces of the copied gear I didn't want to use for anything. So thank you! :D
Thank you. Some advices works even for older players. :)
Glad to see the same passion for Star Wars❤
These video was amazing and accurate :)
i think you forgot to input the datacron sound lol. i love it
subscribed. been looking for a rpg to invest my time in. perfect vid ty
*Great Job Swtorista!!!!!
Every time I come back to this game, I have to go see what you have to say to new and returning players :)
also 9:46 Spot on impression of a holocron xD
I started back in 2011 but played for like a month because my internet sucked. Back at it now 💯
Awesome content!
"This is the sound a Datacron makes...(mutters) sparkle sparkle sparkle sparkle sparkle"
bro very useful video, thank you. i start playing today, and lost track of 10 hours while playing. ahah
very cool game.
Thank you !
Glad to see this game still alive and people making videos like this. I’m a 4 months in, 8 months out rotation kind of player so this kind of content really helps me freshen up
I've watched a lot of you're SWTOR Academy videos and I can say that they are complete golden, I can't wait to start playing the game in the following days with all the research that I've gathered. But I have a big question about the subscription within the game. How does it work exactly? I know you talked about this in this video and in some older guide videos for beginners, but it still confuses me a lot.
Hi swtorista, would it be possible to do a video on "things you probably don't want to do" for new players e.g. changing crafting skill resets it, using the reset room button in strongholds often resets more then the room, buying items off the gtn that are sold by vendors, effects of changing chapters or story lines before completion, etc. thank you!
Thanks for all of the hard work. What happened to the podcast?
Thank you swtorista!
omg i had no idea that there is autoloot, u are great!
Thanks for this video
Bro thank you!
I miss this game so much.
love using the speeder
i can remember using Swtorista back when i started playing years ago, started playing again and my there is so much to do, best info i can find to get me back up to speed, thank you.
