      @@Cesar-nz7rz I'm not a pilot, but I've been watching Max's videos for a long time now, and I've "trained" myself to catch the callsign 2 Romeo Foxtrot and I'm sure its the same for all pilots who fly their aircraft always having an ear tuned-in to ATC back-chatter and key in when their callsign rings out over the radio. Great Question!

    • @CAPFlyer
      @CAPFlyer Před 3 lety +23

      Agreed. Max, love ya man, but as a current line guy, one of my pet peeves is that pilots don't get better training on marshalling signals. As said above, Thumbs In = Chocks In, Thumbs Out = Chocks Out. When you were doing that motion, the line guy was *very* correct in questioning you, so please don't get an attitude about it. Whenever you go to a major FBO chain, every one of those line guys gets pretty good training (whether they execute it or not is another issue) because our number one priority is making sure you get in and out of our location safely. Last thing any of us need is a plane getting damaged because we misinterpreted a pilot or other crew.

    Questions:
    1) When and how do you file your flight plans?
    2) How much fuel do you generally load for your flights?

    • @CitationMax
      @CitationMax  Před 3 lety

      Thank you Garry! I file my flight plans through ForeFlight or Arinc for international flights. And it depends on how long the flight is for fuel load.

    p.s. for all pilots: recent discoveries have determined that ice can form anywhere on a plane in as little as 30 seconds - before anyone even suspects or even thinks of the possibility of ice forming. best to steer clear or wait it out! see - czcams.com/video/5t4kzdM5xkY/video.html

    I’ve loved flying since my first flight at 2 1/2 years of age. My mum was an aircraft cleaner for over 20 years for Ansett Airlines. Would love to be a pilot but now too old and suffer from too many illnesses to be able to. Will forever be a plane geek though! ✈️ 🛫🛬🛩

  • @FinkelBlog
    @FinkelBlog Před 3 lety +1

    Hi Max: I'd enjoy more flight details. For example, you mentioned early on that you were hoping for the same 100-knot tailwind that you experienced as a headwind on the way out. What did it turn out to be, what was your TAS, GS, etc? Also, even when you are cleared for the visual, will you typically nevertheless fly a coupled instrument approach?
    Also, particularly when you're at 45,000 ft., I'd enjoy some views of the ground and horizon. It's something that few get to experience. I did enjoy your comments on the negligible difference in flight time between the Citation and other jets that might be a bit faster.
    Along similar lines, yesterday I was flight planning a 250 nm trip in my Columbia 400, and was surprised to note that a speed difference of over 21 kts at different altitudes only made a difference of eight minutes of flight time.

    • @CitationMax
      @CitationMax  Před 3 lety

      Hey Mark! It wasn’t 100knt but was close. TAS was around 420 at FL410 burning about 900LBS total an hour.
      Good Feedback re the FL450 shots will do that.
      That’s awesome you have a Columbia! Yes you’re right it doesn’t make a huge difference. Thanks so much!

    • @FinkelBlog
      @FinkelBlog Před 3 lety

      @@CitationMax Thanks so much for your reply, Max. So, TAS 420 with near-100 knt tailwinds. About 500 knt over the ground--nice! And I'll look forward to enjoying the FL450 shots!

    if that was my ship - I would have cameras installed to see better behind and around and flight deck displays. The tech is there now and is not too expensive. A wide angle cam on the top of the tail looking forward and backward would be ideal.

    i have always been amazed at how with planes being as technologically advanced as they are, we still put our trust in men waving sticks at us and giving us hand signals through the windshield :) ... and i certainly recognize how critical their function is ... as such, i admire and respect each and every one of them .... few of whom probably know how to fly a plane, else they would be doing it
