I've seen people talk about using the redstone output from the chiseled bookshelves to make a secret door. If we combine that with your idea to use the chiseled bookshelves as flooring, the secret door could be almost impossible to find. (Also very easy to lose lol)

This is a feature in Modpacks since like 1.7.10 and we wanted it for so long , waiting really does pay off !

I can imagine chiseled bookshelves being used not only as a secret passage way, but as a trap. You gotta know which book to pull or else you will trigger traps instead. Could make for some fun puzzle type adventure maps.

I’d personally like to see bookshelves (both kinds) come in wood variant colors. I could see the sides of the chiseled bookshelves used in a British style as wainscoting
That and the campfires would be really nice to have different wooden variants of. It would also be nice to be able to make a bundle of sticks for each wood type that looks similar to the bamboo blocks. No clue how crafting for that would work without changing sticks though.
yesss i would love that chisled bookshelf pattern but in dark oak or spruce, the jungle wood doesnt look that great

@@legorocketraccoon8297if it's just as a decorational block, then you could just surround a log with regular sticks and the outcome block would depend entirely on the log used
I really hope they recolor the bamboo blocks slightly, so that they match the scaffolding perfectly. The new bamboo color is slightly cooler in color.
That would be cool although they are still very similar for now so really a great combo either way

@@MiyuwiTV disagreed. bamboo blocks are super yellow-tinted, a flushed out tannish color is far better in terms of wood based building and more accurate to real life.

The ability to make a classic secret bookshelf door that opens when you pull out a certain book might be what gets me to learn redstone after almost ten years of playing the game.
I honestly might think Bamboo might be my new favourite block, it just looks so unique!

With bamboo mosaic and bamboo block you can creat a whole backroom
Chiseled bookshelves as floor could be a great option for puzzle rooms, where you have to put out certain book to go further
Minecraft logic.
You use six wood and three books to craft the original bookshelf, which has about 20 books on each side.
But if you put one book in the chiseled variant. One book is inside the shelf.
I like the paper lantern idea. I think I will try it with some frog lights. They remind me of paper lanterns already. Thanks for the great ideas!

Ok, I’m brave enough to say it. 10:56, the first one looked better. Idk what the wall is for, but for the way I build adding trapdoors and fence posts would get in the way. It just breaks up the pattern too much for my taste. Do with my comment what you will!
Agreed. It only looks more "realistic" if you've never seen bamboo used as a construction material before.

I'm very excited for the chiseled bookshelf. It'll be a huge upgrade to my world.
I like the idea of bamboo wood and the texture is really good, but I don't have any build ideas. The torches shown in the video were a nice decorative idea.
Hanging Signs can also be used as hanging leather pelts for a leatherworker build! I think that would only be for the wood types though.

You can use the side of the bookshelf as a wall skirting at the base of the wall and then add the bamboo designs to act is a wallpaper or terracotta as wall paint.
Edit, this would be great for mansion builds.

Honestly, the hanging signs will be my favorite addition for a bit.
What if you could add an item to a hanging sign like how you can with item frames? That would limit the text even further, but add a really cool effect as you wouldn't have the air space between the sign and item frame

Sadly we have canceled camels cuz they are allergic to cacti in real life we are very sorry. that's my prediction for the future I'm calling it now

I've been using the bamboo blocks and stairs to give the impression of thatched roofing in my medieval builds.
Be nice if u could put hanging signs against the side of blocks so it looks like it’s hanging by a nail on the wall. The pole should be a separate block

Can the new hanging signs hang from trapdoors? An item frame can be placed flush against the trapdoor so if the hanging sight can be placed under that you get rid of the floating item frames.

Can the chiseled bookself be pushed by a piston? Since it gives off a redstone signal, there could be uses for that, if it works.
Okay, quick Google says that probably won't happen. Like other storage, I doubt we'll be able to push it. That's a shame.
