I picked up a Torque Solutions turbo muffler delete to install on my Mk7 Volkswagen Golf GTI. The install went fairly well, besides having a hard time getting all the bolts removed. The turbo muffler delete is a straight pass through design claimed to be a smoother flow and add turbo noise. After testing, while the straight through smooth design may optimize flow, the overall volume of the turbo induction might be slightly increased but doesn't change the tone too much. I would say worth the $45, but I wouldn't spend any more than that on this aftermarket upgrade.

Probably one of the best sound comparisons I’ve seen/heard on CZcams for a muffler delete. Well done! I never thought they made a bit of difference until I saw your video.
I agree w you 100%
If you have a cat back system or a performance downpipe, you'll hear the turbo sounds. If you add a turbo muffler delete to it, you'll hear the fluttering even more. Just cruise down the street with the windows down when it's quiet. Doing like 10-15 mph and it's noticeable
It spools much louder that means its breathing better good job
On the spool down the whistle is way louder im sure you can hear the up spool going through gears is louder to
Definitely notice that it adds to the overall sound the engine makes now!
@@ColoredinLightso driving it makes a more distinctive sound?
I think the test is to be done while driving. I notice on my my Passat the turbo does not pull while in park. It only kicks in while driving at around 3k.
It doesn’t pull in park because your parked 😂
yeah in neutral it doesn't seem to make the noise but when in gear its a lot more noticeable
turbo is a tad more noticeable. probably more noticeable under load
This comment is late but can always be useful for new people. If you adjust these little things the people will hold more air because the air box can suck in more air so you will hear more noise from the exhaust system.
There has been many flow tests done on the turbo muffler, and they perform almost identical to aftermarket. That made no difference in any performance what so ever, they might make a slight louder noise on the turbo but my cars 3 inch turbo back I wouldn’t hear a difference anyway lol staying stock is the way for me Ty!
A little bit. I put one on my MKVII and i really did not hear much of a difference It sure was a pain for something that does not make much of a difference. BOV and Cold Air Intake make the car sound good without the turbo muffler delete. I don't think its worth the money. Live and learn.
If you have ears like mine this is a perfect example of the muffler delete. I can hear the difference for sure!
I have a 2021 MK7 GLI. Getting ready to install this tomorrow along with the Turbo inlet pipe and CAI. I have the Stage1 Tune from #Integrated Engineering and already making over 310hp and 368lb ft of torque. That's with the stock intake.
Been debating installing one of these on my 09 CC 2.0T. Might just take off the factory turbo muffler and seal the vents and reisntall it for a quick test to see if there is a difference
3 years later now iam considering this “upgrade” did you do it?
@@JELLESLT yeah i did it shortly after i wrote that comment actually still have it on my car to this day
Hey man I think it might make the boost sound louder, i'm pretty sure you don't build any boost in park but when you drive usually in 2000rpm range you hit boost, if you have an intake for instance which you don't in this video you'd here a wooshing almost whistling noise when boost hits and it would probably be louder with the delete, i don't know though as i don't have the delete but just a thought.
Exactly. Drive audio before and after with pressure in the system will truly show the difference. The fact it affects the BOV sound in park is a good indicator though. Bet the difference is a lot more under boost and engine load!
Sounded smoother for sure. More natural maybe ?
It is a little bit louder but if you are wanting the blow off sound you need to put a cold air intake on it with a opened filter even with the hood closed it will sound like a blow off valve
Also need to fit an atmospheric blow off valve as the OEM is a recirculating one
@@Mahalo_83BOV’s aren’t good for this engine tbh
@@Monfreakyhow come
The after has a whistle after the blow off is all I can hear different.
Is difficult to say, I think is better when driving.
All engine noises amplify if test running in the garage.
You can hear thge whistle when thotle is released
Have mine on the way, Driving a 2009 Jetta TDI, Neuspeed says their damper wont fit if i have the metal bubble stock damper however. I strongly believe its going to fit, i spent hours doing research and looking at various parts online, bolt placement, size measures, angles, etc. I think its going to fit. But aside from that.
Reason why im commenting is because i see soo many owners do this part change but have the stock air filter box.
I already have a cold air intake and a big cone filter thats not oiled out of the box. You can hear the turbo with the windows up, i can only imagine what its going to sound like with the damper delete. Its going to scream.
I have a tdi also, does this do much to it.
@@ChrisBryja i noticed a difference in how it takes off.
After i got mine in i had to take it to a buddy of mine and get it milled because there was a notch on the side that would leak all the boost out. Apparently neuspeed never thought to make ones for the 2009 models. However it works nice for me.
And I dont have any engine codes. Been driving with it now a week after comment. I suggest making extra sure you know which one to get because there is about 10 different types.
@@ChrisBryja and yes mine screams.. Just exactly how i imagined before installing
I was thinking bout doin the Neuspeed discharge pipe with thier turbo muffler delete, don’t know if it’s worth it or not
Im assuming the answer is no, but would this mod require a tune to ensure no harm is done or engine codes?
no
Much the same!, maybe a help with other upgrades!
There is a small difference. I just put one on my 1.8tsi and it sounds better now as well.
Did it make it more quiet ? Lol. I have one of these and this video makes me think it's not worth the hassle to install
If anything it would make it louder because its a muffler delete
@@JJ-cb6co I ended up doing it. It ended up being a nightmare with the seal. I noticed zero difference in sound, similar to the video.
I think there is a small difference, when you do it at idle. Does it make any difference when driving?
The sound difference might be there, it's just such a small change if any
Quick question. Why would your first mod be a turbo inlet pipe on this car before any kind of intake or even pod filter setup?? Typically don’t see inlet pipes until past stage 2??
Well I started ordering stuff right when i got the car and I saw a lot of owners added the inlet pipe so I just went for it.
What about the damn o ring bro that’s worst part is getting that back on right
For sure, really sucked!
VW tech here, just coat the o-ring with a dab of grease, she'll stay put then. Learned that doing a lower running cover and having to take the turbo muffler off.
I think I head a bit more spooking now
Great video 👌
Does it void warranty
I just got a 2020 gti from dealer ship and want to make some little upgrades and want to know if it’ll void anything also
@@rudydaberry122 if it doesn't cause direct damage to whatever breaks then no your good.
There is a difference.
There's not really much difference in sound and I doubt there is a measurable gain in HP or torque. But the value of increasing the air flow with all the little air flow mods you can do is to prepare the car to take full advantage of a software tune beyond stage 1.
To be honest there’s not one difference in sound. I played it on different sources such as my iPhone & my surround sound system. Perhaps there’s a change in performance?? I was looking into this mod for my GLI but is not looking worth while
Nah not really
The recirc noise is louder and the spool down is much more noticeable.
I think with an intake and the turbo inlet pipe it’ll probably all make a combined louder sound. Did an intake and then put the turbo inlet a month after and the difference was noticeable. I think after I put the muffler on it’ll be way more. Someone said to think of it as adding change to a jar, one coin isn’t much at first but after adding on quite a bit it makes a difference
Should of waited until the fans were off for sound test
you can hear it spool off
Incredible Work 👍
So now can you pair this with an intake?
I've had a couple different intake set ups now
@@ColoredinLightand? What’s the conclusion bro?
Hmm?
Would this still make a difference if I've got a ram air intake already installed ?
It's more part of the turbo than the intake
@@ColoredinLight ohh okay might get it fitted in that case
Do another sound check when you have new intake and when boosting 🫡🫡
Did that quite a while ago now
Do all turbo engines have this? I have an 18 Cruze and kinda curious.
The TMD is most common on the euro cars. VW, Audi, and several BMWs use it. The Germans like a quiet turbo.
On your Cruzer, your best bang for the buck to hear your turbo better will be a quality aftermarket intake set up. It will act like an acoustic chamber, amplifying everything the Turbo is doing. This is true for 95% of the turbo charged engines on the road, even diesels. 👍✌️
Slight difference
It's ment to he Hurd wile spooling this acceleration not stand still
Litle sound wistle at the end.
But any horsepower with that mod bro?
Probably not by itself
good video. disappointing result. I can barely tell a difference
Hi bro, congratulations for the video and since I'm also on the subject of modifications I wanted to ask you if this kit is applicable to a 2011 Audi TT8j3 1.8 tsi
Thanks in advance
You will probably want to look to find a part for your engine and car specifically
I installed this without the O ring. Everything seems to be fine. Any negative side effects that could happen?
A boost leak
What’s this even do?
blah blah blah get to the point
🤣
