Every one of these pieces are in my list of favorite piano works. To me they are not sad, rather they are thought provoking, beautiful, and reflective. The visuals in this vid are absolutely stunning. How on earth is it done?

Glad to hear that you like it! The visuals are created using a technique called "Ink in Water," where they are initially filmed with a camera as ink is dropped into water. They are then further manipulated using software.
