I am loving the extra musicality that I am learning from these "Beginner" lessons. As always, thank you so much Rich. Peace and love.
When The Saints Go Marching In is an amazing song to practice triads with!
🙏🏼Thank you for all your videos. You are my favorite instructor ever, of any subject, and I really appreciate all of it so much.
Thanks so much, Mark! That means a lot, brother.
You're a great teacher, Rich. Your content is much appreciated. All the best to you, Mike
Mike! Thank you so very much for your incredible generosity. This means more than I can say.
You’re just a very good teacher. Thanks so much!
Wow! Thank you, Jessica. I appreciate your kind words, and your generosity means more than I can say. 🙏🏾❤
Rich, You're the MAN! As a habitual overthinker, I mull over the some of the concepts my in-person instructor gives me. Unfortunately, sometimes it doesn't click right away because there is only so much info I can absorb within an hour. Your channel brings a lot of clarity to my "new to bass" brain. Thanks so much!
Merci! Rich
@@DomDoski thank you so very much! 🙏🏾
The mysterious triads explained beautifully. Thank you.
“Whatever, Brown!” I’m keeping that one! ;)
You are a Good Teacher, waiting for Lesson 7
10 usd to you Rich Tks for the great lessons. More to come 🤘
Love the way you make things easy to follow teacher, happy new year from the uk👏🏿 🇬🇧
Thanks so much! 😊 Happy New Year from Toronto. 👋🏾🇨🇦
Rich Brown, I used your music so often for/with clients with Post-stroke movement issues, aphasia, parkinsons's disease, dementia and COPD. Thank you for creating such mature, somatically involving music that lets people connect both to themselves and others.
Wow! Thank you so very much. What an incredible honour. 🙏🏾

Thx so much for taking the time to put out a series of consecutive lessons that help us get on our feet before making a further commitment.
Thank you Mr brown I was struggling for a while until I saw you you are a blessing
Hey Rich, First, some other”bass teachers” are crowding your space, trying for redirects. Also, I’m doing this to create new neural pathways in my brain, and you are definitely doing that. I can’t play my old standards the same anymore because I hear different (and better) notes in my head. Training my fingers and ears is working.
Brilliant, I am enjoying your lessons. I am a beginner and all the way from ZA. Thanks, and may God bless you 🙏
You know what would be useful for me? Some examples of using triads and first inversions in actual songs. Thanks!
Thanks a million, brilliant lesson!
Thankyou for todays lesson❤make more simple useful
Thanks for the video. Good to go back to the basics.
It never hurts, right? Thanks for watching!
Excellent lesson, thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much, Paul. That means a lot.
This lesson came right on time !
I appreiate you tuning in. Thanks very much!
You are a gift sir... following.
Thank you so much! Very kind of you to say, and I appreciate you for following.
Nice to see you 🙂. Thank you for today's lesson. Happy New Year !!
Thank you, Esther. Always great to hear from you. Happy New Year to you and yours. 🙏🏾❤
Mr. Brown.... belated seasons greeting to you and yours.... Its always a good thing that you stop by with new homework for us.... We always learn something new from you..... I'm finding that there's always the technicalities that we need to involve in your lessons.... stay safe and come back soon....
Recently stumbled upon one of your beginner videos. I love it. I was feeling hopeless, but now I have new hope. Thanks.
As a guitar player learning bass, this is encouraging to see. For a guitarist, inversions (based on the "CAGED" system) are our lifeblood for mastering triads all over the fretboard and that knowledge is a direct transfer to bass.
I picked up my bass once again, after a long while, this time to do things right. Started on lesson one and my fingers feel nice. I can't wait for all the future beginner lessons. Good job Sir.
😂❤ Thank you. Going from guitar to learning bass....its fun 🤝
Excellent video ! The root-3-5s are all over the fret board and totally useful for just about anything. Wealth of helpful instruction! Thanks.
You're so right! Once you know where they all are, your options are limitless. We'll get into more of this soon. Stay tuned!
Thanks once again Rich! You're the King of Bass!! 👑🎸
Thanks!
You are a huge blessing! I have always wanted to know how to play the Bass guitar. You have made it simple with your short lessons. I always look forward to them. Even though I do not have a Bass Guitar yet, I am loving the lessons using my Acoustic.
Innerstanding . Thank you
Thanks, Rich. You’re right about the root-by-default method of playing; I’ve never spent time working on inversions. I’ll have to try integrating them into the modes exercises-up and down the neck-that you’ve shown us. Could you create a video that combines the two? Curious to see where you take this
Thanks so very much for the SuperThanks! There will be more on inversions soon. This was a brief introduction for beginners to learn the shape of the first inversion. For a more advanced lesson, you can check out this video I did a while back. czcams.com/video/T8aVoRBdRtc/video.htmlsi=R9FKeQuXQcWlwRZA
Grazie.
Thank you so much, Claudio. This means a lot. 🙏🏾
You have a cool laid-back style of teaching, I like it, Keep on with the great content, man!
Thanks, Rich!! Love your channel…from a fellow Torontonian!! Cheers, Scott
Also I hope your mention of the money note (the third) will be explained I’m a root and fifth player for a ukulele band and would dearly love to expand.
Thank you Mr. Brown!
thank you for the slow no pressure approach!
Do you know what lesson it was where you went over the riff for your CZcams theme song. It's super funky!!
Now this will be stuck in my head all night. OCDOCDOCDOCDOCDOCDOCD
Awesome lessons! Thank you so much sir!
Thanks doctor Brown

As always, I appreciat you, Travis. Thank you so much! I'm getting ready to play The Rex here in Toronto tonight and next Saturday. I'll be heading to Halifax next month to do a bass a clinic and a trio show, and then I'll back in Europe for most of March with Steve Coleman's band.
Thank you 🙏🏿
I am learning and enjoying your videos. Can you show how you can use a Triad in an actual song.
Definitely. This was just an introductory lesson to show you the shapes. More on this coming soon. Thanks for watching!
Loving the beginner series, can you recommend any strings so to give a jazzy upright bass sound
Calmness in your teaching is awesome 🙌
my neighbour and my only friend, Mr Rich back at it again 😌❤️.
This series is great, Rich (as always). I've been renting studio time and there is a Steinberger bass hanging around, begging me to learn in my spare time. Your videos are indispensable in helping get around the instrument.
Question: you wouldn't use a 1st inversion shape on the A-D-G strings (using G major as the example, B on the second fret of A string and then the two open strings)?
Thank you!!!!
Nice learning sir thanks very much
Hi Rich. Now into week 4 of my journey into bass and continuing to love your great content - many thanks. Maybe I'm trying to go too quickly, but starting to look at Lesson 6, if I take it easy enough, my fingers of both hands are starting to find the right notes and positions . Trouble is, my bass sounds as if my fingers and toes are also finding most of the other notes/strings at the same time, so it sounds more like church bells than a rhythm instrument. Do you have any tips/content/exercises to help beginners get a nice clean sound on a progression of notes. I'm worried that I might be baking in some bad habits. Thanks again.
lesson 6thhhssssss
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! This comment wins. 😂🤣😂

Can somebody please clarify the sequence of the notes for the inversion patterns for me?
Is it B, D, G, D, B, D, G
and
Bb, D, G, D, Bb, D, G ???
sometimes you talk too much in videos and sometimes they are too long but i understand they are for beginners and you are taking your time for these videos
this video was so long and my feet got cold because i was stressed
Go. Go. Gadget GM7

Very much appreciated, my brother! Thank you.
