- The most common question I get asked is: "Ryan, where do I find normal Thai girls amongst the tourist areas?". Referring to girls which are not involved in the nightlife scene, or are/have been, a freelancer.
In this video I detail some of my experiences, some advice and also some input from my friend who is a normal working girl here in Pattaya. She also owns her own business if anyone is interested in buying some beautiful candles here in Pattaya - / candle.factorybyme
If you're coming to Thailand to live here and are interested in dating Thai women outside of the Thailand nightlife scene, some of the tips I give in this video may help. These Thai bar girls and freelancers are not out of the question, and this video is not an attempt to disrespect them in any way.

Speaking more she didn't want to seem incompetent during our interactions. In the end, it didn't work, but I still go into that pharmacy and get a smile.
Personally, I think it's best to just keep your eyes open and go on with your day. If you like watching movies, go to the cinema. There are lots of girls overthere as well. and like you said, do some shopping. You could go to the Big C supermarket and if see a girl, ask her for some advice on what to choose. That's a good opening. I'm kind of a shy guy but in Thailand, the people are a complete 180 from people in the West.

About the rejection in Thailand, the girls will not shame you if you ask her contact. If you approach a girl in a gym, you will not be filmed and upload on Tiktok. If you want to find a normal girl, go to the provinces other than Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Chaing Mai.

You forgot something. She would be doing it for her family, meaning she will never love you. In many cases, she just sees you as an income stream. My friend, who is a British Admiral, has two kids with a woman. One day, a long time ago, he picked up the phone and heard his wife on the other line trying to hire someone, let’s just say, to take care of him. He was so heartbroken that he jumped in front of a moving vehicle, killing him instantly. The point I’m trying to make is, if there’s no love in it, what’s the point? Def helps to learn basic thai words. I had an experience that was funny at siam. Got some food between the tattoo session on holiday in 2017 guy served me but the girl next to him working said suay farang and i quickly replied chai/yes. After a few mins of the girl being shy n running off i got the line id eventually and spent a day with her checking out the river and octave skybar. Good memory with a normal girl.

Here's the thing and I'm pretty sure its obvious but sometimes it needs repeating - if you wanna meet a regular Thai girl, don't go to Pattaya. Thailand is a huge country. So WTF would you go there ?? I mean why would any falang go there ? They go for one reason and one reason only, and its not the beach, the temples, the food, the culture (LOL), and most of all its NOT the regular Thai girls.
Although you are correct with Pattaya being the most saturated with freelancers, this is a beautiful city with a lot to offer. I know many people who visit here and live here and don't even bat an eye at the nightlife scene, yet enjoy everything else of this city. If you only know the bars, then we all clearly know what YOU would do if visiting ;)
@@TravelGlitch Agreed. I've been living in Pratamnak for four years. I moved away from Chiang Mai to get away from the yearly smoke pollution. Why Pattaya? It's close enough to date women from BKK, has cleaner air, foreign food, and beaches. I took my last drink in 1995. I did avail myself of freelancers my first few months here, but that gets old. Since then, I've been a serial monogamist.
I lived in Thailand for 8 years there is a saying u can take the girl from the bar but u can't take the bar from the girl.. I tried a few times to take a working girl give her a job in my company the money I earnt was for us the money she earnt was for her family. It never worked. I respect the girls they have to make money or starve - Walking street one my favourite spots - just enjoy your self I do not see any point in having a girlfriend if you only visit once or twice per year - I had many chances to have a girlfriend I just keep them as friends
Met my thai wife in a bar! That was 20 years ago! She was 18 and I was 49. She’s fantastic and we have a great marriage! There are some real gems in the bars but most are just pieces of coal. I got lucky. People ask how I handle the fact that she was a working girl and slept with a lot of guys. I just say how many guys you think the girls on dating apps are sleeping with? Ive been with dozens so who am I to judge? She was only 18 so hadn’t been in the bar too long and hadn’t lost her ability to pair bond like most do after a while in the business. I am Thai-French, but I didn’t grow up in Thailand as a child. However, I have lived there intermittently for 30 years.
Even as a Thai national, I was always treated as a foreigner because I am of mixed heritage. I have to show my Thai national ID for them to see I’m legitimate.
But in saying that, I have better insight than many of the tourists coming to my country. Of course, there will be exceptions to every rule, but no good Thai girl will ever date a foreigner, unless it’s just to benefit them financially. As far as I’m concerned, it doesn’t exist as I have never seen it myself personally.
There are exceptions for those Thais that are living abroad, but they are probably in the same category as me, meaning they are able to sustain themselves without leaching off someone else.
On top of that, the mindset is very different. It is the same in Japan or Korea, for example, you would always be seen as a tourist even if you live there for 40 years, such as my father who speaks perfect Thai and even reads Thai, which is very hard.
So, to make this short, don’t expect to find a wife material woman. If you fail to satisfy what she needs, she’s going to do what she does best and find someone else to replace what you fail to do.
Altogether, just get rid of you like many Filipino women do in the Philippines as an example.
As someone who lived in China for quite a while and travelled extensively in SEA, I agree 100%. If anything, Filipinas seem more willing to at least involve you in their family and friend groups. Maybe there's a bit more competition there and a lot less freelancing, so foreigners are more likely to come with serious intentions. But Thailand, Vietnam, and all of East Asian countries are very closed off. Even if you live there for years, they view their cultures--abit arrogantly--as unique and incomprehensible by outsiders. So, don't expect to be "in with the crowd" there. That said, there are plenty of normal, open-minded, West-focused women, who combine the best of both worlds and will treat you seriously with devotion. Just have to find them. Don't expect to land and find a wife in a month, you're going to have to be coming back or living there for years to figure out which girls are serious about you and not just using you for resources or as a status symbol.
In my circle, my independent friends are willingly to be with non-Thais, in some groups even more than with Thais. And they definitely don't after their partners' money. They seriously upset seeing their potential partners having no financial management skill.
It's just that I haven't heard one (successful) story that they met their boyfriends/husbands outside, especially in bars...no matter how expensive that bar is. More often than not they met in dating apps with good reputations, chatting everyday for months on end; or they met in their workplace, or when they lived/studied/worked abroad. Their relationships took time to develop.
Doesn't mean there is none happy couple who met in bars, on the street, or on the plane. It's just my friends and I are reluctant to form romantic relationship with strangers that way because there're so many scammers and creepy people.
Lastly, from what I witnessed, women I know aren't with foreigners because they aren't comfortable communicating in English. (blame Thailand's English education) They don't want to get out of their comfort zone so they avoid talking with non-Thai speakers, hence they found no mutual interests with the said foreigners. The friendly ones probably had tried and found out that despite so much effort, they could hold conversation for less than 30 minutes...If it was exhausting since the first day, how could one imagine being with the person for long? After all, there are only few to none non-Thais in their circle of acquaintances and workplaces to begin with.
However, I think learn some Thais then join some volunteer activities such as at Soi Dog, take art classes, bird watching tours, meet ups etc. that interest them, where they can take time together, probably increase chances of meeting normal girls with serious relationship in mind...
