You got some killer sounds there Glenn, great mix of speakers. I have to say, when someone sends me a picture of their Dodge Challenger and says "I want it to look like this" you can hear a cry of Hell Yeah! coming from my office.
Yes please share an IR of this cab! Also it would be a really interesting video if you could show us your steps in capturing a good impulse
You were talking about fitting all of it into a 2 door car, and it reminded me of the time I had to put half of the band's equipment in my 77 firebird. Our singer used to have a moving truck because of his company he owned, but he sold the company and scheduled a gig, and when the gig came time, he said woops... Forgot I don't have a way to get the equipment. So there I was in my Firebird, had a full stack, bass half stack, two bass guitars, double neck guitar, bunch of stands, chords, 8 motorized lights, a contoller, mics, and all of the 8 peice drum set except for the lowest tom, which I had to leave behind. I mean, he had three, sooooo... eh... He didn't need it even tho I got scolded for it. I ended up putting two of the tiny rack toms under the hood, protected from scratches, of course though. But it was a hell of a sight. You gotta do what you gotta do when the bassist won't buy a car to help take stuff to a gig and the other guys in the band live too far away. The bassist had a pot budget, as well as a rum and coke budget too, that he never shared with us; so I guess he was only **completely** useless... 😂
*EVERY* time I was on public transport in London with a combo amp stuffed with pedals and a guitar case, going through the rush hour to a gig I asked "Why did I give up violin?"
There is also the flute :-) A friend plays double bass in orchestras and carried it through public transit more than a few times
We had friends in London whose kid played trombone. It was hilarious and painful to watch him haul that thing onto a double decker bus. The case was taller than he was.
why don't you use a (cheaper than this one) modeler instead? at least for the small gigs it would be safer and more convenient going straight to PA or using this kind of setup with whatever backline they put, if it has an fx loop is basically the same principle
Never knew you could mic a cabinet with a 5150. I learn something new each day lol
Glenn, your guitar playing has improved a good bit! Keep up the practicing!
Im sharing this with a client of mine who insists on playing his *name redacted* 60w modeling amp at gigs 😂
Lou Aguado Actually....to be fair, when done correctly, a “name redacted” rig can sound decent live. Around 2001-2002 I was experimenting with simpler setups after doing the tube amp and rack thing for years. There were lots of new modelers coming out and I wanted to try some out. I ended up gigging with a ***e 6 P*D with the foot controller into a Randall half-stack. By most standards, including my own, that should have sounded atrocious!! But I received more compliments FROM SOUND GUYS about my tone than any rig I have ever gigged live with. Not just local sound techs either. We did opening shows for national acts and even a couple of those guys were curious what I was using. My main patches were just one of the Marshall or Mesa models with a sprinkle of delay or chorus to taste. Just good, “meat and potatoes” tones. I ran the P*D into the front of the Randall so I could use the amp EQ to make slight adjustments from room to room and not have to edit patches. I want to reacquire that gear at some point to compare to modern gear and prove it can work fine when used correctly. Cheers!! 🤘🤘
@@christopheranderson2158 Do you remember what Randal you were using
@@christopheranderson2158 to be fair the guy probably showed up with a Line 6 pod and yeah you can make great noises with it but if you aren't that great it's going to suck even harder lol
Just at the beginning, but...there's another damn good reason for connecting the speakers in parallel - if you blow the coil on one (or one of your joints fails), there's still a load on the amp. If you blow a coil when they're wired in series, the amp's output goes open-circuit and that's a very expensive repair.
@@digiscream i hate to say it but those are the best experiences not only for personal growth but for sharing... :-( thanks for sharing... :-) I have filed into my brain that there's always going to be a failover load on my amp somewhere if I am going mission critical without a net live somewhere, or even just getting burly at home because my neighbor pissed me off again and since weed's legal he can't Karen my ass for playing loud shitty guitar while still under the noise ordinance limit. You'd be surprised how miserable you can make someone that's 250m away without being *super* loud. Damn. I just realized that I've done that so much, it's now a skill. time invested pays off lol ha ha ha
@@digiscream also I have a pair of Sunn/Bassman 1200S that I've never turned up so that's a great thing to know - from what I understand the only amp that's known to slag more voice coils is the Peavey Firebird 700, so it's definitely a catastrophic failure waiting to happen in my rack if I don't *accommodate* it. Thanks again for pointing out that once slagged, everything fails to open, eventually. Sure you get some heat, but once the short has burned the fuck out everything and stops, you've either thrown a breaker or made a big hole in your circuit, literally free space where the magic smoke used to live.
All things considered, I think the QC alone is enough to get through a gig.
Hell yeah on the IR!
Clearly you’re really happy with the sound coming from these speakers. You seem happier and more positive than usual. Cool stuff. IR would be nice. Thanks for great content.
Absolutely I'd love to see some impulses of that cab! Those sounds were killer and I'd love to see how they react with my various amp sims!
Hi Glenn... nnn... nnnn... nnnnn !!! After 23 years of playing bass and being obsessed with gear, I finally found my own "Ultimate Small Gig Rig" for bass: I bought a used 2X10 GK cab that I added to my 1X12 Cube Roland. The result is incredible and not much expensive. I also changed the bad preamp of my 1987 Japanese Soundgear bass for a Seymour Duncan one. It's so clean, solid and brutal, I recommand it :) Cheers from Montreal!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Free badass impulse? Yes please. I still use the revv impulse you gave out a while back. Thanks for all the great content.
Yes! Please make it available to us. It sounds awesome and 100% record worthy. Thanks for the video Glenn and for the great ideas!
Drummer checking in.. It seems like we're entering into a golden age of guitar tone. That's pretty exciting. Best to you all!
This was a blast Glenn! I really liked the adventure and the vlog style pieces. More of this!
An IR of that little monster cab would be excellent..!! Bring it ON!!
Glenn, your guitar chops are improving!
No sloppiness, great sense of rhythm. Keep it up!
An impulse of that cab would be really AWESOME!
This is so cool! I'm definitely getting some ideas from this video!
I'd love that IR when available! That sounded brutal but clear. Love it!
Really awesome rig! Also took notice on some of those sick video transitions earlier in the video!
This video is right up my alley! Been looking at small rigs over the past few weeks! And yes would love to see an IR made - that would be great!
JESUS GLENN im glad youre indoors!!! god forbid a light breeze comes in!! youre going to get swept away!!!! looking good man!!!!
Wow was that Plexi tone ever sweet!! And yes, I'd love to have an impulse of that cab :) Thank you Glenn, you're amazing
This weekend I received the Turd Polisher shirt. Looks great! Thanks! 😎
I got the updated cab with the stripes and my playing and tone improved a lot.
I've been rocking ZILLA for about 10 years now. Best cabs in the world. Period.

This is a great setup. Love how compact it is.
Great sounding rig! Ofc we want that IR!!! Cheers!
The cab sounds killer! I want that IR!
Celestion F12-X200 and F12M-150 FR speakers - designed for cab (not monitor) use with modellers. Great vid Glen!
Yes please the impulse would be awesome!! Thnx Glen
the whole amp is a kick on the chest!!! amazing!!!! I loved it!!!
Hell yeah an IR of that cab would be KILLER!
I've played in bands for 16 years now, the quesition that always is risen when a guitarst gets a new rig or changes amp/cabinet:
"How should I setup this thing, what OHM does I need to use on the amp if the cabinet is using 4/8/16 ohms?????"
Thanks Glenn for making me a solid and simple rule! Now I can brag the next time I'm getting the question \m/
Damn glenn that rig sounds freaking awesome. Please make that IR available as soon as possible! Keep up the great content, cheers from Colombia🇨🇴
Definitely would love that IR!
Damn Glenn, nice chops man, rocking!!!
OK dude..that strat sounded awesome. love it..You play that guitar well.
Love this rig! Really wanna get my hands on the Quad Cortex. Make those IR's happen man!
That sound was RIGHTEOUS
it would definitely be awesome to get a hold of this rig.
Props to Glen for sitting left legged with his guitar! That's a severely underrated part of proper playing technique.
An IR from this cab would be amazing thanks Glenn !!!
Cool rig, thanks for sharing this , this is gave me a cool idea
Yes I’d love an impulse of that cab. Your impulse response pack is still my favorite. Sounds fucking kickass dude.
Definitely would love a IR of this. Love your no nonsense gear reviews. Keep doing what you do bro🤘🤘🤘🤘
Dude! You have been practicing! 🔥🤘🏻 That rig sounds fantasic. 🍻 And I'd absolutely love an IR of that cab. Thanks for even suggesting you'd do that.
Dripping pure awesome! Loved the video, and keep rock'n ! :)
While we´re at small gig rigs: I once replaced the rythm guitar player in a friends Melodic/Death band as they where about to tour. My rig: a borrowed Explorer knock-off into an interface to my laptop running the RVXX (v1) with an IR of a soldano cab and a cheap powered wedge as monitor. I also did the merch stand after our set and had like half of the people coming up asking me about my rig, apparently the sound had been really good.
almost forgot my tiny pedal board: a tuner, a boost and an EQ
sick cab you got going on there!
Hell yeah, I could always use a new ir and that cab sounds killer! Cheers!
Yessss an ir of your cab would be welcome!!!!! Thanks in advance!!!!!
the ir idea sounds great!!!
Super good video, thank you!
Yes please! Awesome video
Def would love an ir especially knowing that it would for sure be a good one
That cab sounds great! Yeah would love an IR.
Thanks for the Video. Great setup.
IR from the cab would be great!!
Yes please on the IR!! That would be awesome. Great tones by the way Glenn!
I love the Neural Dsp quad cortex.
You can put all your fx pedals in this with the capture feature.
No more pedalboards with 10 or 20 pedals.
Not quite. Yet...
Wont capture fuzzes well or delays and other modulation effects.
Love the video! I'd love to see a more budget version of the portable rig.
HELL! YES! Drop that impulse!
Also, you've gotten so much better with guitar! Good job, Glenn!
Used your last IR giveaway live a couple weeks ago, loaded into my quad cortex. I'd definitely be interested in this IR!
I always love a new cab IR !!!
The cab has a bit of a hollow-sounding boxiness/muddiness to it. You can reduce that by putting some polyester stuffing in. Fluff it up loose and add it in. The more stuffing, the more sound absorption; add to taste. Commercial product name is Acousta-Stuf. You can just use the polyester stuffing used to make stuffed toys. I used to use (when it was easier to find) fluffy cotton batting in speakers. Another thing I've done with speaker cabs is to staple some thin fiberglass insulation (the small project bags) to the cabinet walls. Again, add to taste.
I loaded my Harley Benton 2x12 with a Celestion F12m150 and a Celestion F12-x200. Wired in series for 16 ohms. I am extremely impressed. I'm using the Orange Pedal baby power amp with a Fractal FM3.
Been using the same basic idea for the past 5 years and loving it... Mine is with an Atomic Amplifire as the sound source and a rotating door of amps and cabs to go with them. Currently using an EHX .22 with a Peavey cab for local shows and whatever the backline is when traveling.
Would LOVE and impulse of that cab!
awesome small rig. And yes, the IR please, we want it
Awesome! Thanks for this
As a live sound engineer, I like how this solution gives me the option of mic'ing the cab and/or a DI output.
Very cool rig! An impulse of the cabinet would be very cool
Killer!!! One of the best channels/reviewers on here! Thanks for posting. This makes me want to get rid of my Kemper Power Head (sounds awesome), but when played next to another tube halfstack , the Kemper sounds a bit harsh, and then gets a bit muddy if you dial back some of the ice-picky-ness. I can get a ggreat sound, but when really cranked, the BangenOlfson (SP?) power section can sound harsh, I have a feeling the SD Power thing doesn't have that issue. Great tone by the way!
I would love the IR, sounds F* great 👏👏👏
hartke hd 500 , it is so loud and clear, I have never had an issue with volume, as a bass player having the di out makes everything easier for larger shows, but I have never had to go above half even at bigger (for me) gigs that were amp power alone. I just plug right in and the tone is always perfect when I keep it flat, and at only like 35 lbs for a 500 watt 2x10 I have literally no complaints, it has thrived on many a beers spilled on it, and I don't see it failing any time soon even with 2 tours and like 3 years on her belt.
I’d like to give that IR a try, great video as always
I would freaking love to use the IR! the IR's you've uploaded are always very top notch when it comes for usability and it's another great IR with a unique tone for us guitarist to find our tone and rock out without annoying the neighbors. This fucking rocks!
would totally love that IR Glenn!!
I don't know what an impulse for a guitar rig is but I'll have one... yours truly a guitar newb that will probably remain one forever...... AND THAT SHOULD HOPEFULLY DRIVE ME TO ACHIEVING MORE UN NEWBIEISH WHILE NEVER COMING OFF A JURK BUT SECRETLY INSIDE I will be..... but I have absolutely no intention of doing this so I'm actually just wasting my and your time... and I do this well and that is one of my achievements
Please get us an IR of this, it sounds AMAZING!
Awesome. Would love the IR. 👍🏻👍🏻
I'd DEFINITELY go for those IRs!!!
I 'm an old school kinda guy, love that sound ya got going, I want it!
My Stage Rig: Helix with OwnHammer Friedman 412 GB25/V30 IR into HeadRush 112 on a stand. MIM Strat with a JB Jr. in the bridge and HipShot D-Tuner. Can carry it all in with one trip from the car. Total 65 lbs. Sounds sick. Loud and Clear.
I'd love that ir!
Fractal FM3, 2 Expression Pedals, Matrix GT1000FX Poweramp, and 212 Cab has been my live setup. Great sounding, compact and versatile.
I liked the sound level difference to see the difference in the sound the microphones pick up... I haven't had any experience with milking cabs, I've now got a little insight on getting the sounds I need to fit a mix
I would LOVE an impulse of that cab, it sounds so fucking great
Yes please, an IR of that setup would be great!
I'd love to grab an IR of that cab.
Very sweet sounding set up.
I have your Lancaster Audio IR Pack, and that was siiiick. So an IR of the Zilla you built there would be also be mint to play about with
We would definitely love that IR! Great to break away from what everyone else is doing for a change.
AGREED!
If there was an IR, I would be on Board!
Hell yeah!
ooh an ir of this would definitely be cool
Count me in! 🤘🏻😷
