These Baked Potatoes on the Grill are the best baked potatoes you’ll ever have. They’re fluffy, soft, and cooked to complete BBQ perfection. The secret is in the process. By seasoning well, grilling them in foil, and finishing them on direct heat, these potatoes stay moist on the inside, and crispy on the outside.

My mother taught me when microwave ovens were first sold.
Microwave the potatoes first, then grill or throw in the oven. You essentially preheat the inside of the potatoes. I used to incorporate this into my 30 minute suppers when I was Mr. Mom.
Yes 5 mins in a microwave on high, the 20 mins in fan grill oven on high. Done in half the time.
Exactly as I do them here in the UK, but I must admit the skins done the American look really something else. I've just got to try!
New tricks for an old dog.
I do the exact same thing. 6-10 mins in the 'wave, then wrap in foil and finish on the grill. And you can unwrap and add some smoke and char at the end like she did.
@@johnvrabec9747 I'm so lazy now that I'm on my own again that my potatoes come in the microwave variety from Costco!
Yeah and I heard people boiling ribs before putting them on the grill and I always thought they were morons.
I worked the hospitality industry for 40 years and never new the temp for a baked potato....thank you
Just a quick suggestion. Instead of using olive oil. Have you considered lightly dredging your potato through Bacon grease and then follow your procedure? I assure you, it is Yum Yum!
Great advice!
Haram
@@Naos1 lmao get out
i tried that really tasty and crunchy 😋
There is always one.
Tried this method yesterday and the results were UNREAL!!! I even threw some sweet potatoes on and they were the best I have ever made!! Skin was perfect on both!!
That's very cool. If you have one, you should try them in the air fryer. The skin also gets very crispy and yummy. It's great.
My dad did them this way since I was a kid in the 60's and I still do them on the grill.
Thanks. I gotta say, why would someone give this a thumbs down? Do some people just hate potatoes? So odd. Thanks for sharing this!!!!!
I did this exactly how you did it a few weeks ago and it was a huge hit with my wife. She loved them. I am making them again tonight. So thank you.
I was never much of a fan of baked potatoes until I tried your recipe, now I make them on my Webber Kettle at least once a month, which makes my wife happy thank you
As a micmac Indian we lived off the land. My particular band were Potato Farmers.! So we ate a lot of Wild Onions, Fiddle heads & Leeks.
Baked, now grilled, is one of my comfort foods. Thanks
As a kid we called these hobo dinners, wrap up with other vegetables and some ground meat, and threw it on a campfire. Some of the best eating in the world.
Not the same.
I only use charcoal. I cook several veggies wrapped in foil. The BEST I’ve made are carrots...one pound, triple wrapped, placed directly on the coals, with 3 tablespoons of butter, pepper and salt...cooked about 30 minutes. Diced taters & onions is great the same way, except you double wrap them and line the bottom with sliced onion to prevent the potatoes from scorching.
I’ve never cooked potatoes on my Weber kettle until yesterday. Followed these simple instructions……..PERFECT. 🥔👍🏼
I always enjoy trying your recipes. They're simple and delicious. I also love watching you share your enthusiasm for cooking, especially the honest remarks ;-).
Your husband is a terrific camera man and should get more credit, but I suppose his reward is getting to eat your food 🤗.
I never knew there was a temp for baked taters. Thanks for the info!
I do them on a charcoal grill. Put them on at full heat. Just turn them often so they won't burn. After about 45 min to an hour, I cook whatever meat I'm doing. Leave them on the grill until meat is done. Great every time.
Lol it's called "squeeze test" till soft.
😐
@@johnschutte71 you might have the wrong test in mind! 😂
what temp do you bake your potatoes?????????
Little trick for quicker cooking. Get a big clean 16 penny nail and insert it in each of the taters lengthwise. Helps cook the "innerds" quicker. ;)
You forgot a few things. I stab the heck out of it with a fork. Smear with butter and garlic powder. The butter and garlic soaks into the potato from the fork holes. Cook on the hot side of the grill for one hour and then remove the foil if you want a crispy crust. I've had lots of people tell me, this is the most amazing baked potato ever, LOL.
I like to wrap mine in 4 layers of heavy duty foil and then throw them directly into the coals on my kettle grill for an hour turning them every 15 min. The super high heat makes them amazing.
I coat my taters with olive oil then coat the entire thing with coarse sea salt and cook the whole time un-wrapped. I love the crispier skin.
I started out with Susie's method steaming my potatoes in foil. Even with the foil removal and some time on the direct heat I could never get a nicely crisped skin. Then I tried coating all of the oiled skin in salt (and pepper +/- garlic) and cooking unwrapped on indirect heat. A result I much prefer. You can pull them at 210 degrees F., but if they go a bit longer they only improve.
I don't wrap them.
Pellet grill 400⁰ for about 1 hr. Direct ish or Indirect both ways are great,
If you coat the potatoes with leftover bacon grease, they get a nice smokey flavor. Also, soaking a chopped onion in white vinegar for an hour is a fantastic topping.
The bacon grease also makes the skins extra crispy and you will never throw out a baked potato skin again.
I love the way you do them perfectly! Ignore the advice trolls who are too scared to start their own cooking channel. I have mine on now and going to load them up along with Ribeye steaks 🥩 for the 4th of July! 🚨 205-210 internal temperature is new learned lesson. Thanks 🙏🏾
Nothing like a crisp skin on a baked potato. Love your new logo.
Wow, your grilling made my mouth water!!
This video saved my life. I love you Grill lady.
Never thought of unwrapping them and putting them back on the grill. What a great tip - it makes them even better!! Thanks!
The best way to recycle your aluminum foil is to crumble it and use it to clean your grill grates after you are done.
Thank you for this tip, never paid much attention to potatoes vs meats......great!
Doin this Sunday. Smoking ribeye roast and I was just gonna phone it in with some microwaved potatoes, but nope grillin em now. Great idea
First video I've seen if yours, I'm hooked! Thank you for teaching us drinking l grilling in a "normal" cooking show delivery! All the other videos for grilling I've found are super low quality and they have dudes that are not skilled in communication or teaching. Clearly, they're great grillers, but your clear informative presentation has me looking forward to the rest of your videos! It's WAAAY too hot to be cooking in the house this summer!
Great addition with my red wine :))
I just did roasted chicken and potatoes on the pellet grill for Mother’s Day. Just wrapped them in foil and backed them on the top rack. I’ll definitely try this method next time!
i never knew what the perfect cooked temp was.....so thank you...love your vids, learnt a lot from hey grill hey....thank you from the rainy UK..
Followed your instructions and they came out great! My wife loved them with just butter and salt. We are going to pair them up with some steak tonight, we will cover them with cheese and sour cream and of course more butter. Very easy and very flavorful. Thanks!!
I’m going to love doing this one!
Those potatoes look like heaven 😍😍😍
Not sure how I got here, but glad I did. Thank you!
I cook baked potatoes the same way... I also shake some garlic salt on with the salt and pepper.. tastes amazing.
Love it ,.. watching from Kentucky “ The Bluegrass State “ ....... Thanks
These look amazing Susie!!! I Love grilled bakers. I start mine in the microwave (be sure to pierce completely through in a few places beforehand). Brush with oil, sprinkle with kosher salt, then throw on the grill's top rack until crispy; about 10-15 minutes on a medium-hot grill. Potato perfection!
How long do you microwave them for? I'd like to do that to save some fuel
Exactly how I make my baked potatoes when making grilled steaks. Sometimes I use Chicago steak seasoning.
great job you are making me so hungry
So simple love it !
Just watched your video. For the first time in my life I managed to bake potatoes on the grill correctly. Thank you.
Now this is a simple way of baking potatoes
No 3 hours prepping and boiling potatoes, then letting them get dry under Tuscany sun then getting salt from the Bahamas
No 149 dishes to wash after preparing them
Just straight up potatoes! I love it
What he said, clean the grill grates, but throwing the foil at him was cute haha
I love the way you do them perfectly! Ignore the advice trolls who are too scared to start their own cooking channel. I have mine on now and going to load them up along with Ribeye steaks 🥩 for the 4th of July!
Nicely done ✔
made them like you said, awesome. then few days later stopped by a friends house, they was peeling taters for mashed, so I snagged peeling no wrap seasons same as baked on my pellet grill and omgoodness, was happy no one else was there cause I ate all my tater skins.
I completely coat my potaoes with Olive Oil, and then Mrs. Dash. Wrap in foil and bake. They come out soft, and enjoy with skin on with Butter, Sour Cream and Chives. You're welcome!
Looks awesome
Beautiful, I'm trying this method tonight. Thank you.
Yummm!!! I always cook mine like this, but never finished on direct heat...Definitely gonna try it!!
Gotta try this for sure!!
Cameraman know how to clean the grill... ❤
"can we wait?, I have one more thing" Her; has 200k views, him; "you can do whatever you want"
While I haven't tried this recipe yet, this video did inspire a new interest in packed potatoes and now I love to make them. Love watching your videos and cannot wait to try this method.
Thanks for this awesome video
Nice video. I’m always open for new grilling/smoking suggestions. I’ve cooked a lot of baked potatoes, but I never grilled them after they were done. I will definitely try it. Thank you!
Just rolled a couple off my Malory grate tonight with some porters.O use one of those meat tenderizers with 20 prongs on it and poke my potato all over then oil end up with about 1/4 inch crunchy then nice fluff beyond that.Ive actually never used that tool on meat.Just butter and chives with a bunch smoked pepper for me.🔥👍
Omg Susie I could feel the drool running down the side of my mouth while watching this video…must to try this weekend..😘😘
Wow I have to try it. Thanks for the video
I've been cooking mine direct heat for years. I also pierce the spud before oil and salt. My favorite way.
I use charcoal and use direct full heat. Just turn them often so they won't burn. Perfect every time.
That's how i d9m6yeml my fav94rite me5yod.
Around how long does it take for direct heat? Also do you put it on when the coals are still flaming or after they gray?
@@sussybaca7256 I go for about 1 1/2 hours. I put them on very early. About 30 minutes after lighting charcoal. red hot or just getting there. You have to turn every 10-15 minutes at the beginning, so it won't burn too much. By the time I add the meat, an hour later, I put them around the edges of the grill for the last 30 minutes or so.
@@kevinbossick8374 thanks for the tip gonna try it out next time
I love potatoes and I love this video
Just fantastic
Thanks! I did think about unwrapping and putting back on for a time. Can't wait to try my next potatoes
I reuse the foil as a grill cleaner. Scrape those grates with a bit of crumpled foil. Use tongs to avoid burns. It works well! Alternatively, let the kids craft the foil into various shapes, like crowns or dogs or stars. Several pieces can be crumpled together to make a ball heavy enough for catch, or made mostly flat for a frisbee. One little girl used the foil to make body armor, stuck an empty soda box on her head, grabbed a pool noodle (sword) and became a knight!
Love baked potatoes, my mom used to do cheese boats as for me and my sister
Can't wait to try it 👍
The skin is actually the healthiest part of the potato 🥔 and these potatoes are looking bomb!
Love chilli and cheese spuds
These look fantastic and delicious..also try it with peanut oil I think that would be great as well
Really glad I came across your channel. I am using your video today to make the baked potato’s in my Weber today. Thank you for making some great content!
I absolutely love your channel. You always make it look so easy.
I`ve tried many of your recipes, and have had great success.
Thank you for what you do, and sharing it here!
OMG girl…🤯
Thank you for the fantastic video! ❤️
Love this thank you
Salt is your friend… it draws out the moisture of the potato, and encourages the crispy skin
Sprinkle skins with garlic powder along with salt and pepper. Takes it to another level.
New subscriber!
If someone doesn’t have 10 minutes: Wrap potato in foil with oil, salt and pepper and then put on the grill, first indirect heat then direct.
Thanks. Great simple recipe.
Doing this for tonight
We love your content!!!!
Hmmm, never thought about temping my potatoes, great idea! They look delicious.
i put a long aluminum nail through it to transfer heat better then bake, gutter nails, works great, also when cooking a roast or anything,
Just done these tonight absolutely perfect Happy chap from the UK
would have been interesting to do a couple wrapped, a couple unwrapped, and then compare. I grill sweet potatoes unwrapped. Rubbing in oil does help keep the skin from getting really dry.
Love it
Thanks Susie👌
Great video
Thanks
Doing this tonight
Wow this is interesting.
Never tried grilled baked potatoes but I sure want to try them now.
Thanks for the video upload.
Love the new intro and great way to cook them 'taters. Going to give that a try!!
Hey I have the same grill! Also I’ve used this method numerous times and it’s flawless.
This is great, thanks. Video is informative and entertaining 🙂
I took a shot every time she said “fluffy” now I can’t cook🙄🥃now I got to order a baked potato from the bar down the street😂🤣🤣🤣
Get a room
She said fluffy twice. My 14 year old sister can take more liquor than you
@@ryanwagner7573 I’m reporting you for giving a minor liquor.
Great tips
Thanks for sharing.
Nice! Thanks
I’ve never had a baked potato without sour cream.
Yum!
