    They are fun! I have a CAT 304.E2 with a 18” 36” and 42” grading/tilt bucket.
    Didn’t hear him tell you but you should be able to “float” the front blade, pushing the blade control quickly down, then you can back drag with just the weight of the blade and it actually floats and with smooth out nicely. Front bucket on tractor should do the same thing.

    You are going to have so much fun with that when you get past the "nervous stage" of running it... Congrats and (psssst) i am so jealous right now......

    You'll get the hang of it. Just playing with it for a few days you will be fine. Just don't go near anything you don't want destroyed until you feel comfortable with operating it!!!

    I never ran any equipment but i bought a new bob cat e 42.
    Got 200 hr of seat time before winter so im can't wait till the maine mud seasonbends.
    I will say the best machine to own is the one sitting in your yard that you can say is yours.
    More inportant than machine brand is operator experience.
    For people like us that will come in time...with a big 😊 on our face.

    Whatever you do, be very mindful of your tail swing. I’ve seen some very bad things happen when people forgot what the backend was swinging into.

    Nice!! Practice, practice, practice! … once the cameras are off and no one is watching the pressure is gone and you can just enjoy learning how to operate you’ll be a pro in no time!

    The thing that impresses me the most with excavator and back hoe operators are the good ones can actually feel hitting an underground line or pipe before causing significant damage.

    Never run a bucket narrower than your thumb if you’re digging deep or you’ll damage your thumb. 12” buckets clog up easy if your dirt is wet. Get an 18”.

      Think he said in the first video he has either an 18" or 24" on order and it would be there shortly.

    You will learn to use your feet for travel as you use your hands for the boom and bucket and thumb movements all at the same time.
    Wipe up excess grease as it attracts dirt and grit that can migrate into the swivel points.

    Like every new learning experience, time and practice will make you an expert! If you had to learn to drive a stick shift, you always become better and more comfortable with practice.

  • @TheBurnsStuff
    @TheBurnsStuff Před 2 lety

    I would travel in low speed for smaller travel movements, such as repositioning around a smaller hole or tree. High speed could be too fast or jerky if you are trying to rotate or position the undercarriage (tracks). Just like anything, you will get a lot better at it with practice. You'll have that "ah ha" moment after a couple hundred hours. When some movements click, you won't even feel the natural change. Eventually, you will get good enough to run feet and hand controls at the same time. The efficiency of using combination controls is very self rewarding. This is going to be awesome!!! I'm really excited for more excavator videos.

  • @jcrawford25

    Congratulations! When your tracking around your property keep your boom low to avoid anything overhead like power lines and such, keep your bucket curled up and your stick in tight to avoid hitting things when you swing around. If you want to practice grading with the bucket place you an old timber or tire or something you don’t care if you destroy and practice bringing it to you and pushing away without digging into the ground. As you get smooth increase your rpm’s and speed up your motion.

    I don't think you did too bad for a first timer. Grading with a toothed bucket will take time. Make you a place in the back 40 where you can practice where no one will laugh at you. Practice is the only way to increase skill. Enjoy your new toy!

    I have a Backhoe attachment for one of my tractors 🚜 and it’s nice but it’s aggravating to use because I hafto climb out of the tractor cab and then climb back up on the backhoe to operate it and you can’t reach anything in the cab to adjust the engine idle speed and mine is made to fit larger tractors like my John Deere 4020-> my John Deere 4620 it’s so heavy that my John Deere 1530 can’t carry it without it lifting the front end off the ground

    Run it for a month then trade it in on a Bobcat. We have LED lights and USB ports. Use rabbit for point A to B. Don’t turn sharp in rabbit. It’s hard on the two speed.

    • @BigTruckBigRV
      @BigTruckBigRV  Před 2 lety +1

      Find a Bobcat dealer that will trade me in a few months for a comparable model and I make that happen.
